Risen Remaster Mods 2023

Bored of the usual Risen experience? If you want to change it up, this article shows the list of mods than i use on my own playthrough. Its looks great in 2023 and its also performance friendly.

Risen

Risen - ModStarter 1.3.4.0

Overview

• It is needed to have installed Risen (any language) with patch 1.10 to launch this version of RMDS.
  
• RMDS have Russian, German, Ukrainian, English, Italian, Polish, Czech and Spanish language interface. You can choose language in the program (Menu->Options->Languages).
  
• All languages texts was disjoined from program and placed in separate – “Languages.ini” file (In MDS folder). You also can add your own language by adding new section with language name and translated text there. After that you can select new language in MDS, from menu - "Options-Languages".
  
• Main addition to MDS in this version it is support of “Online Mods DB”. There you can download new or add your own mods.
  
• It is possible to launch Risen MDS without mods. It will give possibility to you to download only needed mods from online Mods DB.
  
• MDS already have online checker for new version. On first MDS launch, it will ask for checking for updates on every program startup. But you can change this option in any time if you will change your mind from menu - "Options-Updates”.
  
• After release of the official patch 1.10, it is not needed to install some other fixes to working with RMDS.
  
• As it was in recently versions, RMDS include this programs : RisenAut, RisenPak, RisenCSV, RisenTAB, Custom Font Installer and Risen Tune. MDS also have possibility to "hide" savegames from different mods (by default this option - disabled) and it can change your savegame-dir to other (user-defined) path.

Download instructions :

File - "RMDS_OnlineDB_1_3_2_0.exe" consists only Risen - ModStarter without any mods. (You can download needed mods from online mods DB).

If you already have old version of RMDS installed, then you must uninstall all currently installed mods from mod-starter and then uninstall old MDS too. Or if you already have many mods in your mod-list, then you can just install new version in the same folder with old version, after what you will have new RMDS with your mods in the mod-list.

ReShade is a generic post-processing injector for games and video software developed by crosire. Imagine your favorite game with ambient occlusion, real depth of field effects, color correction and more ... ReShade exposes an automated and generic way to access both frame color and depth information (latter is automatically disabled during multiplayer to prevent exploitation) and all the tools to make it happen.

The possibilities are endless! Add advanced depth-edge-detection-driven SMAA antialiasing, screen space ambient occlusion, depth of field effects, chromatic aberration, dynamic film grain, automatic saturation and color correction, cross processing, multi-pass blurring ... you name it.

• Important Notes

Read install order

1) Install 1.3 patch (unofficial patch, see miscellaneous files)
(!) NOTICE TO PATCH! If your game localization is not German/English/French/Italian/Spanish DO NOT COPY data\compiled\strings.p00 file

2) Download Risen_Remaster_Launcher.exe and place it to BIN game folder
Try it...If it work fine - you can download textures
(!) You can't use textures without Remaster Launcher! (you will get a out of memory error)
(!) So, test it first and don't waste time to downloading textures!

3) Download and unpack main archive with textures
4) Updates\Fixes (if avaliable)
5) Run game via Risen_Remaster_Launcher.exe

TO CUSTOM MODS:

(!) If you plan to use custom textures mods with remaster you should comment out this string (by adding ';' to string begin)
--> ;[RE-ORDER REMASTERED TEXTURES]
- You should do it before install any custom mods!
(!) This function required for updates and remaster pack installing (disable it only after install all files from this page)

(!) Also:
If you use deprecated Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast - add game folder to exclusion
(false positive to any code injectors)

Known issues:

Random error 'process terminated now' on game start. It cause only on game launch. Just re-launch game
TIP: press [WIN key] and close risen game window, then restart launcher
(This is vanilla issue on some systems. Google it)
UPD: Try running as administrator

ReShade Preset - Vibrance

To run ReShade with this preset:

1. Download the preset and place it in the game's directory, in the 'bin' folder where the executable file is located
2. Download newest version of ReShade
3. Lunch the installer and select Risen's executable file
4. Check all boxes and install
5. To enable the preset you can
a) select it in the configuration menu after installing ReShade
b) point to it in ReShade.ini config file by inputting '.\Vibrance.ini' into 'PresetPath'
c) enable it from the game's level by opening ReShade menu with 'Home' button

Bug Report:

Issues Fix:

If you cant load the preset ingame, reinstall ReShade and select DX9, not DX11.

For my german friends:

Falls ihr nicht wisst wo ihr den "home button" findet. Im deutschen Layout der Tastatur ist es die "pos1" Taste.

You can also edeting the preset if the colour to strong for your opinion.
Klick ingame the home button, select colourfulness and adjust the colour scale.

high-resolution loading screens

Sounds Overhaul

This mod fix some ingame sound related bugs and overhauls almost every ingame sound effects; environment, the Hero, monster noises, the BOSS, inventory and combat sounds in Risen.

INSTRUCTIONS

Install the mod:
Works with Risen ModStarter, so you need to copy my extracted mod library "Risen (English or German) Sounds Overhaul v1.1" into the extracted RisenMDS/FanMods/ and start the ModStarter. Pick my mod from the list and click on the "Integrate mods" button in the right side of the program.

OR...
copy manualy the two mod files into your Risen Library/data/compiled/ "sounds.p0x" and "speech_english.p0x" or "speech_german.p0x", then rename the "x" part to the next .p0x free number in the library in the same name. Like: if there is already a "sounds.pak" and "sounds.p00" than you should name the mod "sounds.p0x" to "sounds.p01" and do the same with the "speech_english.p0x" or "speech_german.p0x" file too.


Remove the mod:
Start the ModStarter and click "Delete mods from game" on the right side of the program. That's it!
OR...
delete manualy the two renamed mod files "sounds.p0x" and "speech_english.p0x" or "speech_german.p0x" from your Risen Library/data/compiled/

Walk to Sprint

The default speed modifier for walking is 0.375.
This mod changes this single value to 1.35, resulting in something like a sprint.
You can now use your walk hotkey for sprinting.

Any Idea how to run the Risen Remaster Launcher on Steam Deck?

Some mods won't work with the Update from the consoles realease. But by using the game's properties on Steam and looking into the Betas tab you can still download the vanilla version. You'll just have to update to 1.10 by yourself. With that version, most mods should be working
