Zero (Character)

Omschrijving
Zero is a combo-heavy character that plays almost exactly like his appearances throughout Mega Man X4 to X8. He trades shielding for a command Dash and ledge grabbing for wall jumping capabilities.

----------------------------------------------------------

Here I'll go through all his moves by order of game appearance, along with some comentary when necessary.

~~Mega Man X4~~
Here we have most of his moves. Mostly because X4's techniques are pretty all-rounded and have their general uses. Along with their appearances in Marvel Vs. Capcom, some of them have been well adapted to fighting games as well.

-Jab (1, 2 and 3): Three-Hit Combo, which is Zero's signature attack from X4 and X5.
-Neutral/Forward Aerial: Air Attack without upgrades from X4 and X5.
-Up Aerial: Kuuenzan, from Split Mushroom, that lets you do a spinning aerial attack.
-Down Strong: Rakuhouha, from Cyber Peacock, lets you slam the ground releasing energy waves. The waves deal little damage and no knockback.
-Up Special (Air OK): Ryuenjin, from Magma Dragoon, that lets you do a rising flaming sword uppercut.
-Down Special (Ground): Tenkuuha, from Storm Owl, lets you slash in front of you with an enhanced Z-Saber that reflects projectiles.
-Down Special (Air): Hyuoretsuzan, from Frost Walrus, makes you stab directly downward with some horizontal movement control.
-Side Special: Raijingeki, from Web Spider, lets Zero stab with a Z-Saber imbued with electricity, stunning opponents.
-Dash Special: Shippuga, from Slash Beast, lets you perform a quick slash while dashing.
-Air Dash: Hienkyaku, from Jet Stingray, lets you Dash in the air. Possible to keep momentum if you attack during it.

~~Mega Man X5~~
Unfortunately, in X5 most of the techniques were less-popular versions of those from X4. The only truly new ones were Dark Hold (which would be OP in Fraymakers) and Sougenmu/Twin Dream (which would be hard to implement). So the only one that I was able to use was the Buster, which came back after being omitted in X4.

-Neutral Special (Air OK): Z-Buster, that fires a projectile in front of Zero. Can be held for continuous firing. Uses X6 Buster sprites.

~~Mega Man X6~~
Aside from questionable level design in this game, Zero's techniques were pretty good. Not much to comment on, except that Sentsuizan was made to look more like their Marvel Vs. Capcom iteration.

-Up Tilt: Third hit from X6's three-hit combo, which is good for an air combo starter.
-Down Aerial: Sentsuizan, from Ground Scaravich, makes Zero dash diagonally downward while swinging his Z-Saber. Has a sweetspot in the beginning that spikes opponents.
-Up Strong: Shoenzan, from Blaze Heatnix, that works similar to Up Tilt, but launches a fire wave along the swing trajectory.

~~Mega Man X7~~
Aside from REALLY questionable decisions for this game, we finally get a playable version of an ability Zero had as a boss fight in X2, X5 and X6.

-Forward Strong: Hadangeki, from Vanishing Gungaroo, has Zero perform a slash wave with a swing from his Z-Saber.

~~Mega Man X8~~
Personally, I think Zero's techniques in this game shine more with his other weapons than with the Z-Saber. However, one of them has already been well adapted to a fighting game, and it works well in all it's appearances.

Side Special (Air): Raikousen, from Gigabolt Man-O-War, lets Zero dash forward after a delay, having a lightning strike following him in the process.

Certainly one of the more unique fighters, including gimmicks that fighters normally don't have, such as turning around in the air, air dashes, etc.

You could make it slightly easier to use strong attacks out of dash, but otherwise well done. You've earned yourself a favorite.
