There Is No Light: Side Quests Guide

Side Quests
Here, you can find the locations and steps to complete the different side quests. There are 15 side quests in total. Some side quests can only be started at certain times throughout the game.

There Were Two of Them


The Sarcophagus
(3 parts)
*Note:This quest can be done any time before the final time advancement.*

Part 1:
Along the Path of Pride, you will come across a concerned gentleman looking for a way to find his family on the other side of "The Sarcophagus". The first part of this side quest is to locate the map that he asks for. You can find the map in a side room further along the main path. When you drop down from a metal platform, go northeast to a small path. The map will be around the corner.



Part 2:
Following your return with the map, He will mention seeing you again later. You will run into him in Mind of a Fool (2nd Fast Travel Point). He will be in the lower left corner. He will tell you that a member of his group needs sap from a tree to survive an injury. You will be tasked with acquiring this special sap. Follow the path to the east until you drop down between red glowing mushrooms. Then follow the small path on the right side of the screen. You will find the sap after a horde battle.



Part 3:
After returning with the sap, He will again say goodbye and you will see him in New Moon where you can finish the quest. You will receive the Ira Omen Blade mode.


Father's Gift
*Note: This quest can only be completed after the first time advancement and if you have 1 karma point*
This side quest begins in the Central Station residential area (West of the Sanctuary).








The mother that you talk to will mention her husband had left a gift, a wooden sword, for his son. Your task is to find it and bring it back to her son. The sword will be located along the Path of Pride. Continue along the path until you reach New Moon.


You will be traveling left of New Moon on the circular boat.




Once you retrieve the sword, bring it back to the mother and son. Where you receive the memory shard.

Collector
(2 parts)
*Note: The first part of this quest must be done before the final boss fight of Vault of Heaven.*
The Bestiary is an interactable item in your inventory that explains the many different parts of the Underground. Once you unlock the Bestiary you will need to find the 39 different pages scattered about. To start the Bestiary Side Quest, you will need to go through the Path of Greed.

Part 1:
First, go to the second Fast Travel point in New Dawn. To the east, you will see a circle of 5 altars. Approach the altars in the order shown below. Once you complete this, a room to the right of the screen will be accessible.


The NPC in the room on the side will be the one we work with to get the Bestiary. His first task for us is to collect the two book parts from "The Red-Haired Girl."


Part 2:
The "Red Haired Girl" mentioned can be found along the main path at New Dawn, specifically the fifth Fast Travel location.






Once you speak with her, she will ask you to kill a demon and bring back a piece of him. Follow this route to find the demon she is speaking of.



Upon defeating Sabnock, the demon, you will take his scalp back to the Red-Haired Girl. She will give you a part of the book in return. To get the other part of the book, you will need to progress in the main path. You will receive the other part after the final boss fight in the Vault of Heaven.

Part 3:
Take both parts of the book to The Archive of the First. The author will be waiting for you there. Use these directions to find him.








Keep in mind that after you acquire the Bestiary, you will need to collect all 39 pages to complete it.

The Scythe of a Guard

*Note: This quest can only be done after 2 time advancements and if you have 2 karma points.*
This quest begins in the Hospital wing. It is in the southern room just inside the Hospital. This room will not be accessible until the second time advancement.


The NPC is looking for a new material for a scalpel. Your task is to find a scythe that he can use to make scalpels. You will need to go through the Path of Greed up to the sixth Fast Travel location in the Vault of Heaven. Once here, you will travel north to a corridor and enter the eastmost door. Continue forward until you reach a final room. There will be a secret button in the top left corner of the room. The scythe is on the other side of the secret door.



After collecting the scythe, return it to the doctor to receive a memory shard.

Echoes of War
*Note: This quest can be started after 2 time advancements.*

This quest begins in the barracks of The Solar Corps Guard.








The Combat Knife will be located along the Path of Pride. Start at the third Fast Travel location. From here move forward until you reach a T heading North and South. Go South and stay on the West side. You should see a small path leading to a side room. In there, you will find the knife.



Take the knife back to the man in the barracks.

Shelter
*Note: This quest can be completed after the second time advancement.*


This quest starts in the residential area of the Central Station. You should see the NPC on your way to the Nursery.






She takes care of animals and needs a replacement dress. She ordered one from a lady along the Path of Laying. Follow the main path to the fourth Fast Travel location. Continue along the path until you reach the room with cages and enemies fighting. Directly below the fighting enemies, there is a room tucked into the bottom part of the screen. There on the wall is the dress.



After collecting the dress, return it to receive a memory shard.

And You, Brutus
*Note: This quest is located along the Path of Laying, but you must complete the quest dealing with the Conjoined Brothers before you can finish this one.*

This side quest starts at the beginning of the Path of Laying. You will be escorting a lady and her child through groups of enemies. The path you take her along is the main path you would be traveling anyways.


Directly after the escort, you will reach a group of pilgrims headed to the Lighthouse of Hope. To the right of the giant stone, you will notice two conjoined brothers.





After talking to them, you will get a flask with a note.




With this bottle, you will need to go to the fourth Fast Travel location in the Waters of Purification. From here, continue forward until you reach the room with cages and fighting enemies.


Continue past the enemies to the far right. From there continue forward and jump a small gap to a path along the east wall.


Travel north and, once again, escort the lady and her child through enemies to a safe location. From here, take a left at the T and there is a gap in the fence to the north. You will have access to the pond below the waterfall.


Take the bottle back to the brothers. Continue through the Path of Laying until you reach the camp after the elevator. From Here stay to the right of the tents and go south. You will see the brothers holding a plank of wood so you can go up and help the lady with her child, one last time.


After this final part, you will have a boss fight with the traitor that has been leading pilgrims into danger. This is at the eighth Fast Travel in the Lighthouse of Hope. After you defeat him, you will receive an Omen Blade mode. And the Achievement "And You, Brutus".

Star Eaters
*Note: This quest can only start after the third time advancement.*

This quest starts above the restaurant in Central Station.









The NPC is looking for blood from a monster that he helped create. To achieve this, you will need to go to New Moon in the Abyss. From there, you need to hop onto the circular boat and stay to the south. There will be an opening going down. continue until you are in a separate room. To the west, there is a large door that you can now interact with. Opening it and going inside, you will find a boss fight.

Once you've defeated the boss, bring the Vial of Blood back to the NPC and you'll get a memory shard.



O Captain! My Captain!
*Note: This quest can only be started after the third time advancement.*

This quest starts above the restaurant in the Central Station.










The NPC will explain that he needs a lantern from the tail of his airplane that got separated from him. You will need to head to New Dawn, where we first met the red-haired girl. From here, go to the path on the farthest right. Continue east and jump over to the path against the wall. Go north and through the door, there will be a boss fight.





Take the lantern back to the NPC and you'll receive a memory shard.


Newlyweds
*Note: This quest is only available after the third time advancement.*

This quest starts in the Solar Corps sleeping quarters.








The NPC mentions that his daughter wants a ring that his mother used to have. You are tasked with finding his mother and getting the ring from her. He says she might be in Old Nimbus. A lady there states that she is in Spiritina. You can find her above the main section of Spiritina and she will hand you the ring.



When you bring the ring back, you will receive a memory shard.

My Own Way
*Note: This quest can only be started after the third time advancement.*

This quest begins north of the standard residential area in the Central Station. Once you talk to the NPC, you can enter the house and start a boss fight. After the fight, the NPC will show you a necklace, where you receive a memory shard.




Champion Gabriel (Fate of New Moon)
*Note: This quest can only be started after you have discovered New Moon, and you've advanced time once.*

Once you have finished the story of New Moon, you can go to the headquarters of the Solar Corps and start this quest for the Champion Gabriel Achievement.










The general will ask you to place a locator device in New Moon so his soldiers can go and get rid of New Moon. To prevent this from happening, right after you place the location device, talk to the NPC in the very center of New Moon and he will ask for your help defeating the Corps Guard champion.



Once you have defeated the champion, return to the General.

Champion Uriel (Fate of Spiritina)
*Note: This quest can only be started after you've discovered Spiritina and you've advanced time once.*

Once you have finished the story of Spiritina, you can go to the headquarters of the Solar Corps and start this quest for the Champion Uriel Achievement.








After talking to the general, he will ask you to meet his informant in Old Nimbus where you will be given explosives. You will be told to plant them in Spiritina. Fast travel to the fifth location in the Depot. Before you start planting explosives, speak with the spider mother in the center of Spiritina. She will ask for help in fighting the Solar Corps champion.









After defeating the champion, talk with the spider mother again and return to the general.

Champion Raphael (Fate of the Waters of Purification)
*Note: This quest can only be started after you have discovered the Waters of Purification and advanced time once.*

Once you have finished the story of the Lighthouse, you can go to the headquarters of the Solar Corps and start this quest for the Champion Raphael Achievement.








The general will ask you to go talk to his scout in one of the pilgrim camps. We WILL NOT do this, as this will instantly kill everyone at the Waters of Purification. Instead, we need to go directly to the Waters of Purification and talk to the leader there. He will ask for help defeating the champion from the Corps Guard. *Note: Keep in mind, if NPCs die, you will lose Karma.*



After you've done this, return to the general.

There Were Two of Them
*Note: You can only start this quest after completing the Champion quests.*

This quest starts in the Corps Guard headquarters after the champion quests. You don't need to succeed in the champion quests, only complete them.






After you finish the champion quests he will ask you to retrieve his brother's locket. You will need to go to the Path of Laying. Fast travel to the second location in the Lighthouse of Hope. From there, jump down to the left of screen and travel up until you see a gap in the fence to the Northeast. Immediately go up and the first room to the north is where you can find the locket.





Return the locket to the general to receive a memory shard.

NOTE: YOU CAN FUCK UP DEFENCE OF SPIRITINA BY LEAVING AREA!!! I didnt knew where to go after killing the champion sooooo... I gotta now finish the game with this fuck up
