The diary will describe tenants and an order in which their room numbers must be placed in order to get the washing machine code. Look around the apartment and match the descriptions up to the room numbers. Write these down, once you have all the numbers you'll have the code.

Go downstairs and put the code into the washing machine. It'll unlock.
