How to Beat the Eater of Worlds
By MUD >SERVIÇOS PC ONLINE<
Terraria players have often struggled to fight the big worm boss known as the Eater of Worlds.

In Terraria, the Eater of Worlds is one of the first bosses players can encounter when playing in a Corruption world. This boss is a massive worm that constantly rams into players, blocking their path and shooting loads of projectiles at them in Expert mode. The rewards for beating this boss are pretty worth doing, but the struggle to defeat it in the first place cannot be overstated.

This boss can be fought as soon as the game begins, but it would be advisable for players to defeat the Eye of Cthulu and obtain significant armor and accessories to help turn the tide of battle. The only requirements are having a hammer and/or some method of destroying Ebonstone, usually explosives.

Summoning the Eater of Worlds

The Eater of Worlds is an early Pre-Hardmode boss exclusive to the Corruption biome, and there are two ways to spawn it. The way most players will be familiar with is delving into the large naturally generated chasms of the Corruption to break Shadow Orbs, which can be destroyed with a hammer or using explosives. Explosives can be found in underground pots and chests or sold by the Demolitionist.

When the Shadow Orbs are destroyed, a whole host of items could be dropped, most of which will benefit some players.

After three orbs are broken, and the player receives their gun and two other items, the massive worm will spawn. It can also be spawned another way, which is worthwhile if the player has run out of Shadow Orbs to destroy. Worm Food can be crafted using 15 Rotten Chunks and 30 Vile Powder (made from Vile Mushrooms at a bottle) and crafted together at a Demon Altar. Using this item in the Corruption will spawn the Eater of Worlds.

The Best Gear for the Eater of Worlds

The best gear will generally resemble the equipment used for the Brain of Cthulu, given that the Eater of Worlds is its Corruption counterpart. Most early game pre-hardmode materials, armor, or items will function in this boss fight, and Terraria players should go with whatever they prefer for accessories. This guide will list some of the best things to give the best chance to beat the boss.

Platinum Armor will be the best bet for armor choice, as it has the highest defense of any armor obtainable before fighting the Eater of Worlds. Shadow armor could also be obtained if the player defeats enough segments of the worm before dying. For summoners, a Flinx fur coat or Obsidian armor is preferable. For Mage, the Diamond robe and Wizard's hat are a great combo.

Accessoriesplayers should be going in with are mainly ones found underground in Golden Chests. In particular, the Hermes Boots, Cloud in a Bottle, Band of Regeneration, Feral Claws, and the Shield of Cthulhu in Expert Mode. These accessories focus mainly on movement, allowing an easier escape when fighting this colossal worm. Mage players should swap the Feral Claws for a Band of Starpower.

  • Melee should focus on more close-range items for this fight since any longer-range melee options will usually do badly against this boss. The Ball O' Hurt becomes an easy recommendation, tearing through the boss's health. The Blade of Grass is difficult to get from the Jungle, but the extensive range and great projectile make it worth going for.

  • Ranged should consider trying piercing options, such as the Jester's Arrows. While the Musket can be used for players that want to focus on hitting the head, its inability to hit multiple segments makes it impractical. The Demon Bow is the best option in combination with the aforementioned arrows, but the Platinum Bow is not a bad replacement.

  • Mage should consider the Diamond Staff an invaluable asset given its piercing, significant damage, and general ease of obtaining. The Waterbolt is an option only if players can get it from the Dungeon before Skeletron, which depends on how nice the world generation is. Finally, the Vilethorn is the best option, but only if dropped from a Shadow Orb.

  • Summoner doesn't have many options at this point of the game, but the Snapthorn made from Jungle materials is a must. The Vampire Frog Staff is great if the player has the patience to wait for a Blood Moon and start fishing. If not, then the Finch Staff or Flinx Staff are both adequate replacements that only take some exploring or grinding.
How to Fight the Eater of Worlds

The Eater of Worlds is a tough fight in normal mode, practically rushing the player as soon as they break a third Shadow Orb. Players can fight the Eater of Worlds underground or use a rope to climb back up to the surface for more freedom of movement. However, in Expert Mode, this becomes less of a choice, as the Eater of Worlds will start firing dark projectiles that become much less of an issue underground.

When the third orb is broken, the boss spawns, so players should have an escape route to their arena planned. This makes going in with a hammer rather than purely explosives a good option, as explosives could blow up rope or platforms around it. Once the fight begins, the player must dodge the Eater of Worlds' rushes and be wary of the boss splitting off into several segments. There is only one phase, but the middle of the fight is the hardest.

Terraria players will have to look out for the worm splitting off, and at different points in the fight, players will need to change up their strategy.
Start of the Fight

Initially, there will only be one massive worm to contend with. This phase is not too tricky, merely requiring the player to dodge the worm rushing at them by either running away or jumping over and running under it. This is where damage can best be achieved by hitting it with piercing projectiles or getting close enough to hit it at close-range.

Ideally, players should try to hit the head and tail more than everything else because breaking these will cause hearts to drop and make the worm not split off. However, in an actual battle, this becomes impractical and slow, and it is preferable to do as much damage as possible in a short time frame while keeping an eye on health.

Middle of the Fight

This is where the fight gets a lot harder. Unless Terraria players exclusively hit the head, the worm would have split into many segments. This means running across the arena, meaning Hermes boots are invaluable. Given the large number of smaller worms in the middle of the fight, it is difficult to dodge them, so running rather than avoiding them is the better strategy.

Getting in some shots or waiting for a worm to close in and then getting in some close-range damage are the ideal ways to harm. After a while, worms will start to die, and the fight will get easier as time passes. This means by the time Players have taken out some of the worms, the battle will be the easiest it has ever been, allowing a clean finish.
