How To Make A Chest In Terraria

While Terraria has much to offer regarding items, player inventories are limited. It is only fair that players can only carry a few things, which is why they will need to make a chest to keep items safe for later use. Players that do not know how to make a chest in Terraria will be pleased to know they will learn about it and much more in this guide.

How to Make a Chest in Terraria

Terraria offers 42 different types of chests, but only 27 can be crafted. Recipes for chests are straightforward and available early in the game, but a few are available late. To make a chest in Terraria, follow these steps:

1 Craft a workbench.

2 Gather the required resources to craft a chest, i.e., eight pieces of Wood and any two pieces of Iron Bar.

3 Stand near the workbench and open the inventory.

4 Look for the Chest icon and select it in the Crafting menu.

Apart from the standard chest, players can craft different types of chest by using different resources, such as:

• Cactus Chest – Eight pieces of Cactus and any two pieces of Iron Bar.
  
  
• Ebonwood Chest - Eight pieces of Ebonwood and any two pieces of Iron Bar.
  
  
• Granite Chest - Eight pieces of Smooth Granite Block and any two pieces of Iron Bar.
  
  
• Marble Chest - Eight pieces of Smooth Marble Block and any two pieces of Iron Bar.
  
  
• Sandstone Chest - Eight pieces of Smooth Sandstone and any two pieces of Iron Bar.
  
  
• Flesh Chest - Eight pieces of Flesh Block and any two pieces of Iron Bar.

Chests that Can’t be Crafted

Some chests cannot be crafted and are generated randomly throughout a Terraria world. These randomly generated chests can be found in Underground layers, Biomes, and Caves. Randomly generated chests offer a rare item along with several common items.

On the flip side, some chests can be converted into a Mechanism. These chests cannot be used to store items but, when triggered, will inform the player, open doors and light sources, or activate a trap. Also, The Dead Man’s Chest may contain Gold Chest loot but is rigged with traps to kill the player. Also, some enemies appear as chests.
