What is this?
This list is a comprehensive guide to the best custom level packs available for Baba Is You. It includes ratings of each pack's difficulty (where available), details on the total number of levels, flowers, and orbs in each one (levels/flowers/orbs), and download links for everything. The first 10 descriptions in this list are taken, with permission from Olies' Discord list[discord.com]. Olie is also the developer behind three of the listed entries.

The main goals of this guide are to:
  • Make these level packs available to a wider audience.
  • Give players who have finished the main game an idea of what to try next.
  • Provide information about the difficulty, content, and quality of each level pack.
  • For level packs I have already played, I have added a personal review. Please keep in mind that these reviews are only my personal opinion and may be biased due to my lack of Baba Is You skills and my impatience. Your mileage may vary. No offense is meant, especially not to the authors.

How to Install Custom Level Packs

To install custom level packs, you will need to copy the level pack folder into the \Data\Worlds directory of your Baba Is You installation. On a typical Windows installation, this directory is located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baba Is You\Data\Worlds
Once you have copied the level pack folder into the \Data\Worlds directory, you can start playing the level pack by selecting it from the main menu.

I hope this guide helps you find some great new level packs to play!
Recent updates to this list
May 6th, 2025: Almost exactly one year since the last update (May 5th, 2024), I went through the list again—checked and fixed broken download links, added version numbers for level packs where applicable, and made a few minor tweaks. All download links should now be working correctly again.

Keep an eye on this list—more updates are coming. I’ll be honest with myself: Baba Is You is just not a game you ever really stop playing :). If you have any recommendations for great level packs, feel free to drop them in the comments. And if you run into any issues or glitches, your feedback is always appreciated—leave a comment or reach out to me directly.

May 7th, 2025: I fixed a few more links today (some Discord links were especially outdated) and updated a bit of information here and there. I also added a link to my Baba Is You Android modding guide on Reddit.
Alphababa Soup by Randomiser
A challenging pack filled with "aha!" moments, an obvious favourite among many baba veterans! And that's for good reason - it's a gauntlet of complex, tightly-designed levels that'll leave you scratching your head for hours.

As Expected by hutthutthutt
There's no text in this pack. The mechanics for each of the different objects are, quite simply, as expected. Baba is YOU. Rock is PUSH. Keke is MOVE. Flag is WIN. Level is DIFFICULT and has INTRICATE SOLUTION. It's basically just pure sokoban that pushes the limits of how these different base mechanics interact with each other. It's very clever.

Personal opinion: 8/10
Playthrough time: 11:02 (~14 min / puzzle)

I'll be honest: I went into this level pack with low expectations. After all, isn't BIY without rules modification just boring old Sokoban? But I couldn't have been more wrong. "As Expected" is one of the best BIY level packs out there.

The pack maintains a high level of quality throughout. The puzzles are intriguing and entertaining, and they gradually increase in difficulty. Some of the puzzles use advanced techniques like object priority, but the pack teaches you the techniques needed to solve them, ensuring you have fun during your playthrough. Later levels even have some surprises, such as meta stuff.

I had a lot of fun playing this level pack. It's a must-play for any BIY fan.
Baba Is Travel by Berries Butcher
That Baba sure do be travelling. The main focus of this pack is on presenting the player with an array of difficult levels, tied together with unique environments and a pretty world map. There's an emphasis on manoeuvring objects around like a sokoban, rather than making or breaking certain rules. There's a lot of complexity here!

Babanother by Napier
You want something difficult? Really? You sure? Well, here you go. Babanother takes a whole bunch of levels from the basegame and tweaks them ever so slightly. These changes are carefully engineered to massively change the solution and difficulty of the original level. It's not for the faint-hearted!

Everypence by Olie
This pack tests the limits of how far an unmodded pack can go, using hidden text trickery to create custom properties and cutscenes, each of which are neatly divided into sectioned off corners of the map. It also has a few custom sprites, and it's own OST!

Personal opinion: 8/10
Playthrough time: 12:22 (~13 min / puzzle)

I went into Everypence by Olie with low expectations, fearing that it would be all about cutscenes and story. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the level design is the main strength of the level pack.

The puzzles are clever and well-designed, and they are challenging enough to keep players engaged even without the cutscenes. The cutscenes and story are also well-made and fun to watch, and there is great Baba style custom music to listen to. I would definitely recommend Everypence to anyone who enjoys Baba Is You.
Letters+ by Olie
An exploration into a bunch of different ways that letters can be interpreted. The mechanics are clever in a "huh, i never thought of looking at things like that" kind of way, and make a lot of sense once you understand how they work. Features a custom soundtrack!

Levelpack extensions:
Letters+ is an immensely popular level pack for Baba Is You, so much so that it has inspired the creation of four semi-official 'fan packs' by other talented authors. All of these packs offer a worthwhile experience.

Personal opinion: 8/10
Playthrough time: 17:16 (~14 min / puzzle)

Full disclosure: I actually played the pack in v1 earlier, and my playthrough time for v2 may have been a bit longer if I hadn't.

Having played the original version of the Letters+ pack, it was clear to me that I had to come back for remastered v2. The update maintains the charm of the original levels, offering a polished experience. The letters mechanics continue to provoke thought in a subtle manner, and the addition of new levels brings a fresh layer of challenge.

For those familiar with the original, Letters+ v2 provides a balanced mix. Remastered classics offer a comfortable return, while the new levels introduce a bit more complexity for those seeking an added challenge. It's a casual yet enjoyable extension of the letter-based puzzles, making it a good pick for both returning players and those diving into the pack for the first time.
Persistence by Randomiser
Using the modded word "PERSIST" (created specifically to be used in this pack), Persistence explores the implications of what's essentially the level-transform mechanic on steroids. So as not to give too much away, this pack goes completely off the rails in the best way possible, some of the puzzles requiring you to visit multitudes of different maps and levels in order to solve!
  • Difficulty: 3/5 (same as base game)

Repose by Marlowe
If you're chasing an experience that's similar to the basegame, this is for you! Repose teaches and explores a handful of the new words that don't appear within the basegame levels in a distinctly baba-like fashion.

Personal opinion: 9/10
Playthrough time: 34:30 (~13 min / puzzle)

"Repose" is a level pack that is so good, you would think it was made by Hempuli himself. The level pack maintains a very high level of quality, with clever puzzles, creative ideas, and a neat overworld design. There are some minor flaws, such as useless text pieces in some places, but these are few and far between.

Regal mimics Hempuli's style, but also brings in a lot of new and fresh ideas. The level pack focuses on words not in the main game, teaching them in a way that is both challenging and rewarding.

I highly recommend Regal to all Baba Is You players. It is a clear example of what a level pack can be, and it is sure to provide hours of enjoyment.
The Legend of Zelbaba by Hillexed
Face off against the evil Wug with the help of Zelda powerups, such as the grappling hook or the deku leaf! There's also an array of mashups of classic Zelda songs in the baba style to keep your ears just as entertained as your eyes. The pack is a lot more chill than most, with an emphasis on lighthearted fun rather than complex puzzle solving.
  • Difficulty: 1/5 (chill)
  • Totals: 54/6/3
  • Version: 7.3 (2021.08.13)
  • Discord[discordapp.com]
  • GameBanana[gamebanana.com]

Personal opinion: 6/10
Playthrough time: 2:23 (~3 min / puzzle)

This level pack is a creative homage to the Zelda series, featuring levels that mimic the mechanics and music of the Zelda games. It also has unique cutscenes, which are well made and add a lot of personality to this pack.

However, this level pack may be not for you: Most, if not all of the levels will provide no challenge at all to any player who succesfully completed the base game. The Zelda powerups are fun to use, but they can also be a bit clunky and tedious. Additionally, the decision to leave all text unhidden may confuse some players (I personally thought about a bug at first).

This pack is recommended for fans of both, Zelda and BIY. Everyone else will most likely not have much fun with it.
Ba I Yu by Team Ba I Yu
Ba I Yu is a level pack that recreates all the base game levels in very small grids, creating a unique and challenging experience. While it faithfully replicates the original levels and you can use hints from the Baba Is Hint[www.keyofw.com] website, the cramped spaces add an extra layer of complexity. It's worth giving it a try if you enjoy a different take on familiar puzzles.

Personal opinion: 7/10
Playthrough time: 32:46 (~8 min / puzzle)

"Ba I Yu" takes a unique approach to difficulty in Baba Is You levels. Unlike the typical challenge where understanding the solution is the hard part, this pack flips the script. Here, it's clear what's expected of you (you did finish the base game, did you?), but actually pulling it off is the tough part.

The pack cleverly condenses all original game levels into tight spaces. This deliberate design choice adds an extra layer of complexity, forcing players to plan several moves ahead in order to succeed. While it's a commendable execution, it can also be quite frustrating at times.

Despite the initial annoyance, "Ba I Yu" offers an engaging twist on familiar levels. It injects a sense of novelty into the gameplay, making it worth a try for those seeking a fresh challenge in Baba Is You. However, its condensed design might not appeal to everyone.
Baba Braves The Internet by Patashu, hutthutthutt and many others
"Baba Braves the Internet" is a curated Baba is You custom level list originally created by Patashu and later recreated in pack form by hutthutthutt. Quoting Patashu: "The purpose of this level list is to provide a gentle on-ramp into the world of custom levels, sorted from easiest to hardest, hopefully free of extreme difficulty, cheese and levels that require you to guess an obscure interaction without guiding you into testing it. I hope you find it useful!".
Metatatext by Batata
Metatatext is a modded level pack for Baba Is You that explores the concept of metatext, or text that describes text. In this level pack, players must use their powers of metatext to manipulate the words of the levels in order to solve the puzzles. Metatatext is a challenging level pack that requires players to think about the nature of language and how it can be used to create new meanings.

Personal opinion: 9/10
Playthrough time: 27:21 (~20 min / puzzle)

Among the various levelpacks available for Baba Is You, Metatatext by Batata truly stands out. This levelpack falls under the "modded" category, using extra LUA code to change parts of the game that the standard level editor can't touch.

Metatatext smoothly incorporates the Metatext mod by EmilyEmmi to add new interactions and mechanics. The mod fits seamlessly, creating puzzles that still feel like classic Baba Is You challenges. Batata's level design takes advantage of this mod to create puzzles that are both tough and enjoyable to solve.

It's worth mentioning that a bit more refinement could have been beneficial. Some puzzles might be susceptible to unintended solutions ("cheese"), like the elusive MH-02 puzzle where even prominent puzzle solvers like Icely Puzzles remain puzzled. There's also the occasional chance of running into LUA errors. However, these small issues don't take away from the overall experience; you can complete the level pack without major problems.

Metatatext captures the essence and gameplay you'd expect from an official sequel. It's a clear recommendation, especially for fans of the original game. Despite these minor hiccups, Metatatext blends seamlessly with the Baba Is You experience, offering more of the core mechanics to enjoy.
Strangeland by Olie
Made for the Baba Is You Official Fall GameJam, Strangeland is a textless pack featuring 6 worlds, custom music, some rather strange aesthetics, and a heck ton of puzzles to solve!

Important note:
The totals listed here are correct for Strangeland v1.6 (the final version). After reaching these totals, you might still have two locations in the world that appear as if they should contain levels, but in reality, they remain unfilled. According to Olie, these placeholders were never populated with playable content.

Personal opinion: 7/10
Playthrough time: 9:48 (~5 min / puzzle)

Strangeland, a Baba Is You level pack created by Olie, offers a collection of levels that, despite being numerous, can be completed relatively quickly. It might even feel a bit too easy for experienced Baba players. The pack introduces well-executed special mechanics in each of it's worlds. Additionally, Olie has included lots of bonus content. The custom music is fitting, and the puzzles themselves are both clever and challenging.

One notable departure is the shift from the core mechanics of Baba Is You towards a gimmick-based Sokoban variant. This transition is handled adeptly, adding a unique flavor to the experience.

Recommended for players who enjoy thoughtfully designed level packs and are open to a Sokoban-inspired twist.
Trio Levels by Kawasaki
Trio Levels is a comprehensive level pack centered on the theme of threes. Within this pack, every level offers three distinct variations, ranging from easy to normal and ultimately, hard. This level pack builds upon the foundation of Hempuli's 'dot' levels, significantly expanding upon the concept. It features an extensive collection of 165 levels.

Personal opinion: 8/10
Playthrough time: 54:41 (~20 min / puzzle)

Trio Levels truly shines in its well-crafted level design, cleverly incorporating the "threes" theme with escalating challenges that keep players engaged. While the difficulty level is notably higher than the base game, the carefully constructed puzzles make for an enjoyable and rewarding experience. The levels skillfully play with players' expectations, adding an extra layer of excitement to the gameplay.

A standout feature of "Trio Levels" is Kawasaki's YouTube channel, which provides hints through brief YouTube videos. These videos not only offer helpful guidance but also complete playthroughs for those needing more assistance, catering to players of varying skill levels.

While the overworld is beautifully decorated, the arrangement of levels feels mundane, lacking the imaginative touch found within the puzzles themselves. Unlike most expansive level packs, there's a (mild spoiler ahead) notable absence of meta puzzles. However, as you will spend most of your time in the levels and not on the overworld, that's a rather small complaint.

This level pack is best suited for experienced Baba Is You players seeking a satisfying challenge and an opportunity to test their puzzle-solving skills.
Nimi's Garden by Marlowe
Explore Nimi's Garden, a level pack with around 200 levels, with a heavy emphasis on words from the MegaModpack. It's made for players who finished Baba is You and New Adventures but maybe haven't delved into mods much. With custom themes, sprites, and a baba-style overworld, it's a chill yet challenging experience.

Personal opinion: 8.5/10
Playthrough time: 55:43 (~17 min / puzzle)

In my ongoing journey to break free from my BIY addiction, Regal managed to pull me back in with the promise of another potential gem: "Nimi's Garden." Much like its predecessor, "Repose," this one doesn't disappoint. While "Repose" focused on editor-exclusive words for a homebrew sequel to the base game, "Nimi's Garden" goes a step further by including the Mega Modpack, introducing new words and mechanics for yet another homebrew sequel.

The level pack is a mix of clever puzzles and creative ideas. The overworld design pays tribute to Hempuli's style while adding its own touch. The level pack boasts plenty of custom artwork and sprites, all well-executed. "Nimi's Garden" also throws in an overarching puzzle, adding a fun twist to the experience (remember to jot down notes or snap screenshots).

However, as with any new addition, a few hiccups are par for the course. The Mega Modpack isn't flawless, and you might encounter some unexpected behavior during gameplay. In my playthrough of v1.0, I ran into a soft lock that needed manual save file editing to get past. While Regal has addressed these issues in v1.1, fixing the soft lock and more, there may still be a few levels with unintended solutions. These minor bumps didn't significantly dampen the overall experience.

I'd recommend "Nimi's Garden" to fellow Baba Is You players who've conquered the base game, New Adventures, and maybe Repose. It's a worthwhile adventure for those looking for new challenges and a continuation of the Baba Is You journey.
Honorable mentions
This list contains level packs that could have been in the main list, but didn't make it for one reason or another. Some are on the smaller side, some might not be as popular, some might still be a bit rough around the edges, needing some polish. All of them are guaranteed to offer a unique and enjoyable gaming experience.
  • Silver Meadow by Silverhawke[github.com] (60/3/1)
A level pack for Baba Is You that offers a mixed bag of classic and experimental levels. The classic levels are well-designed but can be tedious, while the experimental levels are hit-or-miss. Some of the experimental levels are ingenious, while others are frustrating.
  • Synthetic Genesis by Potatosynthesis[github.com] (93/5/9)
Consists of ~100 levels with a major focus on editor-exclusive words. This pack combines Potatosynthesis' previous two packs Babasynthesis and Babamorphosis. Although the two maps are reused, a major portion of these old levels have been changed. There are also a lot of new levels, so the players who have completed the previous packs should still enjoy this pack.
  • Modded Medley by hutthutthutt[hutt3.itch.io] (122/9/1)
Modded Medley is a new level pack for Baba Is You that showcases Patashu's Mega Mod Pack. It includes over 20 new words and mechanics, as well as some of the most challenging puzzles in the game.
  • The Web by Maildropfolder[maildropfolder.itch.io] (10/1/6)
This pack involves meta shenanigans, and a lot of it. Much like a spiderweb, most of the levels are connected to each other in some way, and it quickly becomes a tricky tightrope navigating the increasingly complex sequences of levels.
  • Choose Your Main by Olie[itsolie.itch.io] (9/0/0)
Choose Your Main is a short level pack that explores how different characters traverse the same environment. The level pack features custom sprites, music, and is completely unmodded. The level pack was the winner of the One Stage, Many Acts competition.
  • Variations on a Theme by Pixlate[archive.org] (10/0/0)
Variations on a Theme is a short but challenging level pack by Pixlate. Each level features the same basic design, but the rules are different each time, requiring you to think outside the box to find a solution. Think of it as a super-charged variant of Hempuli's 'dot' levels, but with even more twists and turns.
  • Prison World by Alphons6[archive.org] (14/0/0)
All the levels in this pack are inspired by the main campaign's infamous "Prison." The levels balance simplicity with striking visuals. Yet, be ready for a genuine challenge in later stages, where you'll need a grasp of rarely used game mechanics to navigate through intricate puzzles. It's a unique and engaging experience that goes beyond the usual.
  • Reflection by InUniverse[archive.org] (8/1/0)
A pack focused on playing through 2 mirrored levels at the same time. Levels are designed in a way that makes it impossible to desync the player characters - saving you from some headache.
  • Farthest Shore by Kubius/Kusibu[archive.org] (69/5/3)
This pack features pleasing visuals and neat level design. While it leans towards the easier side, it offers a fun experience that may be swiftly completed, making it suitable for players of all skill levels.

@Alby (and everyone else) - I fixed all the download links. Everything should be available to the outside world, again.

Unfortunate that Discord has been breaking attachment URLs. Hopefully more people that put work into these level packs mirror their levels to sites other than Discord, I'm not comfortable staying in the Baba is You official server.

Thank you for making this list!
