Intro
Good day to you, fellow Tenno!

I notice that other players use Trinity in one of 2 particular ways, both of which min-max a particular ability in her kit. I feel this is an oversimplification of her as the support she is. I have 2,600+ hours in game, 5,200+ hours on Steam, and (according to my in-game profile) 37% of my play time has been on Trinity and Trinity Prime. That approximates to just under 1,000 hours of playing Trinity in my Warframe career. It frustrates me when people only want an EV or a Blessing Trinity; both can definitely be done and that’s what this guide is for; to show that it can be done.

Now, keep in mind the stats on this mod screenshot will be a bit higher than you would get with the mods alone. That is because I have 3 crimson Archon Shards giving 30% ability strength, 2 amber Archon Shards giving 50% ability casting speed, and the Arcane Aura Helmet for 25% more ability duration. So you likely won't be able to get to my hyper min-max'ed numbers on this build. Don't worry, this build works without it.

Modding
  • So, generally what people do with Trinity is build her for her Energy Vampire ability for overshield generation or her Blessing buff. For the EV build, people build for extreme negative duration as that will give shields and energy to the squad very quickly just due to how her EV ability works. For those that are unaware, with Trinity’s 2nd ability, Energy Vampire, you mark an enemy that gets stunned/blinded and stays that way until the end of the duration (scaling with ability duration). During the duration, the enemy will shoot out 4 Pulses of energy. If you increase your ability duration on your build the time between Pulses will be longer, thus taking longer to gain more energy. If you decrease your duration (with Transient Fortitude or Fleeting Expertise) you can do the opposite and lower the time between energy Pulses and, as a result, get energy quicker. So, as a result, it makes sense to build lower duration for an EV Trinity build. My main issue with this is that it hinders her other abilities severely. Her 4th ability, Blessing, heals all members of her squad and gives them a % Damage Reduction buff that is based on duration. If you build a Trinity like this your Blessing buff will have basically no length. Conversely, you can build for high ability duration and some ability strength to maximize Trinity’s Blessing buff. This is great for keeping a %DR (% Damage Reduction) buff on you and your teammates.

  • But if one build wants low ability duration and one wants high ability duration, how do you do both?

  • Great question! There is an interesting trick to resolve this. If you mark an enemy with your Energy Vampire then kill the enemy immediately afterwards you will trigger all 4 energy Pulses to be sent out instantly when the target dies. And, as a result, you do not have to worry about building low ability duration for the benefit of a single ability and the detriment of other abilities.
  • The best way I have found to optimize this is to build her for high ability duration, then high ability strength, near 100% ability range and 45% ability efficiency. You want the ability duration for your Blessing buff and Link. You want the ability strength mostly for your Energy Vampire. You want an ok amount of range to give the energy to your allies properly, for if you get too low on range your EV’s range will suffer a lot and not be effective. And I opt for lower ability efficiency so I can get more ability strength with Blind Rage. The way I justify that is with the fact that I am constantly making energy by using my EV. Also, using a Primed Flow is a must in this case so you can keep your ability rotations up properly.
Gameplay/Tactics
  • In terms of actual play, your main goal is to keep your squad alive and full on energy. You can see the health, shields, and energy of your squadmates by pressing “Z” (“Z” will toggle this ui visual on and off), it will appear on the right side of your screen under your health/shield bar. This is very helpful to know which squadmates need energy/healing and which squadmates have your Blessing %DR buff. Be sure to keep your Blessing buff on them at all times as this makes them take significantly less damage from all sources, thus, making your healing job easier. If you see a squadmate take a big hit of damage or you see they have a bleeding damage proc (heat, toxin, slash, etc.) use your Blessing to heal them quickly.
  • It is important that your ability rotations are properly executed as well. When you enter a mission you want to EV, then kill the first enemy you can in the mission. This is so you can get enough energy to go through the mission. If you don’t do this and use your Bless or Link first you will not have enough energy to use your EV which is necessary to keep yourself stocked on energy. Generally, after getting into a mission, I use my EV on an enemy, kill it immediately, then EV another enemy and kill it. This usually will fill my energy to where I can start using my Link and Blessing. So, I’ll then cast my Blessing then my Link. Then I’ll EV and kill another enemy to get back the energy I used on Link and Blessing. Do this kind of thing and you’ll be able to keep your team alive basically indefinitely. Keep your Link up all the time, recasting right when the duration falls, use EV to give energy to yourself and your squad, and make sure every squad member has your Blessing %DR buff.
  • One of the main things to watch out for is running out of energy to the point where you can’t use your EV. I always keep Energy Restore Pads for that situation. You can also use the Zenurik focus ability to remedy this. If you keep up with how much energy you have and just kind of spam your EV you should be fine.

Another issue you might run into is your squad not staying within 50 meters of each other on a mission. The reason that is important is because the range on your Blessing is tied to Affinity gain range. So, if 1 teammate is more than 50 meters from you when you cast your Blessing, they do not get healed or given the %DR buff. You can actually increase Affinity gain range by 25 meters with a passive from Vazarin focus school which helps. The main way I’ve helped with that is just advising my team to stay somewhat together in a mission.
This guide is a Work In Progress
I am still working on this guide as there is a lot for me to cover and I can not do it all in one sitting. Please feel free to comment to give me your thoughts on what I need to cover or dig deeper into.

Happy farming, Tenno!

@glitchhunter09 You are 100% correct. I should have made this guide sooner tbh so it wouldn't be information that isn't as valuable. I'll continue to work on it though; thanks for the response!

This is great and all but not a lot of people use her anymore because her gameplay gets boring to some and also because with all the methods DE has introduced for self healing, healing and energy restore frames just aren't as highly valued as they used to be. That being said, she CAN be situationally useful, especially in the Duviri circuit on steel path. However, this depends upon what kind of teammates she has and what kind of build she has. The unfortunate truth is, poor trinity has been power crept to hell and back again. To top it off, damage reduction no longer helps anymore after enemies hit a certain level.
