How to make an object transparent (For all you idiots)

For some reason, people keep making, and using addons that are created to make an object invisible. This is ridiculous because there is already a way to control an objects transparency using the color tool.

Uh, yeah...

Find the color tool (colour if you're bri'ish) and slide the transparency slider to whatever you want. (Duh, why should I have to make a guide for this you idiots)

It looks like a transparency slider so I shouldn't have to describe it.
