Helpful dev tool info
By starsofthestorm
This guide includes all features of base-game dev tools, except for the dev tool interface (the thing that pops up when you press H)
Haven't seen a guide on this yet so here I am !!

Spawning items
You can only spawn the three key items without mods, which are Spearmaster's pearl, Hunter's green neuron fly, and Rivulet's rarefaction cell.

5 is for the pearl

6 is for the neuron fly

7 is for the rarefaction cell

Although there is the "objects" tab in the dev tools, I cannot figure it out and have completely stopped trying, I am not the person to ask.
Normal features
Everything you can do, not including spawning stuff keys, not including things about the dev tool interface (reached by pressed H). A couple aren't fully explained due to me not fully understanding them, but I did my best !!

8 kills all creatures in the room you're in, not including slugpups and slugcats. This does include Guardians, with a slight difference for Saint. (Spoilers for late-game Saint campaign) You must press it three times to kill a Guardian in Rubicon, just like how it takes three ascension attempts to kill them normally.
From what I've seen, killing Guardians in any campaign besides Saint where you can ascend will not let you go through the next pipe without max karma. It stays locked anyways.

9 resets the rain timer to max WITHOUT resetting the entire cycle and putting you back in the shelter. Really helpful, one of my favorites for long travel !!

0 immediately starts the rain, like, instantly heavy rain. Never used this but it's cool I guess.

V teleports the slugcat to the mouse location. This includes all slugpups and all slugcats, even in co-op regardless of where they are in the room or if being held or not.

B drags all creatures in the room to the mouse/cursor location except for slugcats, slugpups, and batflies

R resets the cycle from the shelter. (Instead of just refilling the rain timer like 9 does, it resets the cycle completely and puts you back in the last shelter you were in)

G flings all vultures in the room skywards, however it must be pressed multiple times or held to actually send them anywhere

A (if held) will slow the entire game down, including creatures and such, like mushrooms almost

W (if held) will drag the slugcat to the mouse location

S (if held) will run the game very quickly, the opposite of A

Q will give you one food pip

I (i) will create a block of yellow text in the top left corner of your screen showing all sounds happening in the room at the current moment.
The screenshot can't capture one thing about it- IT MOVES AT LIGHT SPEED. It is going VERY fast for me, I think it's because of the dead vulture. It's not always this fast but it certainly can be.

P i dont really understand? i think it shows creatures in the room and then something else that i dont get, a bunch of little cubes that you can click on. I'll have to explore that a bit more.
Originally there is just one cube wherever your mouse / cursor is, and hovering over creatures, poles, pipes, and the ground will cause the cubes to get bigger. if you click on any spot that has the bigger cubes it makes those lines / paths of cubes.

K pulls up some text that i screenshotted in the image below, I'm playing on Monk campaign as Rivulet (using co-op to do such yk) so I'm not too sure what it means yet !!

N seems to move the entire room / camera towards your mouse location, however it was EXTREMELY shaky for me. (I was messing around with B since it drags creatures around and forgot to press it again so beastmaster is up !!)

M pulls up this neat thing, which shows the slugcat's reputation / relationship with all creatures that have a reputation system. It also shows a few different things below that which I don't fully understand (I'm not sure what it means by flies but I'm guessing batflies, I'm also not sure what dynamic difficulty or "how well player do" means) but some are the total creatures in the world, total lizards, time left before the rain cycle (i'm guessing its in seconds). I'm not too sure what a precycle countdown is, but I assume it affects campaigns that actually have precycles.
It also put numbers by the pipes / shelters I could enter, the karma gate being 2, the shelter being 3 (not in the ss for some reason?), the pipes above being 0 and 1, and then two spots out in the sky?

Every key (not including 5, 6, 7, or H due to having different features) is listed here
Thank you !!
If I forgot anything please let me know, and also please tell me if I missed anything and I'll test it and then gladly add it !!!

The next section planned is one for the dev tool interface (which is, again, reached by pressing H), however most of the functions don't seem to work for me so it might be a while if I ever add it.

Thanks for reading !!! If you have questions, comments, or concerns, let me know !!

The precycle countdown is for when a shelter failure happens, it starts at a very high number and counts down to 0, when it reaches 0 the cycle starts

I love how you're playing as SRS with a dms in it

omg sorry! i accidentally sent the previous message prematurely, the green lizard bites increase from 25% up to 40% lethal chance at 0% difficulty level, to 100%'

dynamic diffculty is based off the amount of cycles survived, and if you have "new dynamic difficulty" enabled in remix, it is also affected by the amount of regions visited

dynamic diffculty (as you mentioned in the section of what "M" did) basically is a stat that increases the diffculty in rain world through various means in your current campaign. most prominent thing it does is makes lizard bites have a higher lethality chance,
example: green lizard lethality chance increase from 25% up to 40%

i think the only way to get it back would be some way to force load it and turn off voidsea or just restart
Hunter May 29, 2024 @ 12:57pm
which is unrelated i just wanted to say that
Hunter May 29, 2024 @ 12:56pm
@weewummerrygun i did that to one of the sandbox arenas which made it break permanently before that i was messing around with the voidmelt setting though

from my coding knowledge wich is very little the yellow blocks from p are like pathing all the creatures that can walk will pathfind to you by doing 2 things, checking if they go and if they can go back this might be related to that, i might not be right but uhhh idk

good guide! though i would like to mention that pressing i displays sounds currently being played, while pressing k shows behaviours (i think thats what they are?) in action (like, for example, creatures dying, a vulture entering a room, and some scav behaviours/animations)
