Introduction
Root currently features 37 achievements, 16 of which require the game's variuous DLCs to unlock. Most of them are rather straightforward, meaning you should unlock them simply by playing for a while and grinding a little bit.
In this guide I've included a couple of basic tips for the slightly more complex achievements, along with clarifications for those with somewhat vague descriptions. Any DLC required for specific achievements is also listed.

Unless otherwise stated, all achievements requiring you to perform specific actions a certain number of times are cumulative across all matches you play. All achievements can be earned in regular matches either online or when playing versus AI, but not in local multiplayer games. As far as I can tell, all achievements can be completed while playing a challenge, so keep an eye out for challenges with advantageous conditions.

Instead of unlocking right away, achievements gained during a match will be unlocked afterwards, as the screen announcing the match's winner comes up. As far as I can tell, an achievement won't be unlocked if the action that would have triggered it also caused a player to win and thus ended the game.
General
Craftsmen
Craft 50 times.

You'll easily get this while going for the other achievements. Certain factions' mechanics enable them to craft a lot more than others, so factions like the Woodland Alliance, Riverfolk Company, Underground Duchy will get you there even faster.

Wrecking Crew
Destroy 2 enemy buildings in a single battle.

You'll likely get this during your first couple of rounds. Otherwise, pick a clearing with two buildings on it and focus on attacking it, making sure to increase your odds of hitting hard, i.e. crafting combat cards and stacking warriors.

Sneak Attack
Eliminate all attacking warriors with an Ambush.

Once drawn, you can hold onto an Ambush card, allowing you to use it as when another player attacks you in a matching clearing. Given they can't counter with an Ambush card of their own, you're then allowed to remove up to two of the attacking warriors.
Thus, you'll have to use an Ambush card to successfully counter an attack of either one or two warriors in order to obtain this achievement.

Dominance Victory
Win a game using Dominance.

Once you reach 10 victory points, dominance cards can be used to win the game, by activating them. You'll have to rule the clearings your dominance card specifies at the start of your turn, so you'll have to make sure that none of the other players manages to override your rule on any of them during their turn. So stack these clearings with warriors, clear their surroundings and stock up on ambushes as well as any other fighting-related cards. Also be mindful of factions like the Lizard Cult which can rule clearings without having warrior majority.
If you're playing as the Vagabond, activating a dominance card instead creates a coalition with the player that has the lowest score- Winning in a coalition will instead unlock the "Coalition Victory" achievement below.
If you don't draw a dominance card on your own, you can trade another card for one that was previously discarded.

Coalition Victory
Share a victory in a Coalition.

Coalitions are created when a Vagabond plays a dominance card and see said Vagabond team up with the player who's got the least victory points. To go for this achievement, either play as the Vagabond or fall behind in points during a game with a Vagabond, before making a comeback.
As the Vagabond, you will no longer be able to score points and instead need to support your coalition partner. Improve your relationship to give them cards, attack the other players to prevent them from scoring, wipe clearings to enable your partner to move/build there etc.
If you don't draw a dominance card on your own, you can trade another card for one that was previously discarded.

Challenger
Complete all challenges.

This includes all of the base game challenges along with the harder version(s) unlocked by beating them. All of the required challenges are found under the "Standard"-tab, with none of the other ones added through updates and expansions counting towards the achievement.
Factions - Eyrie Dynasties
Grand Decree
Have a dozen cards in your decree at once.

Try to always add two cards when expanding your decree, using a bird card whenever possible for more flexibility. Through this, build a balanced decree with easily manageable actions; lots of move actions are especially handy.

Iron Grip
Complete an entire game without entering Turmoil.

When adding to your decree, always chose to only use one card to keep things manageable. Stay flexible by adding as many bird cards as possible and going for easy to perform actions, while keeping your decree balanced. The number of roosts you can place in particular is very limited, so add at most one build action. You'll mostly have to play things save, even if that means losing the game in the end.

Eyrie Emperor
Win 25 games as the Eyrie Dynasties.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Eyrie Dynasties and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Marquise de Cat
The Mightiest Army
Have 25 Warriors on the map.

For this achievement, you'll simply need to have all of your warriors on the map at once. When playing with the Riverfolk Company, make sure they don't have any of your warriors in their funds.

Workaholic
Overwork two turns in a row.

The overwork action lets you discard a card matching a clearing with a sawmill on it to produce a wood token. Simply save two fitting cards and trigger the overwork actions on two consecutive turns. Keep an eye on the amount of wood already on the map, as you can't overwork if there are already 8 wood tokens.

Duke de Cat
Win 25 games as the Marquise de Cat.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Marquise de Cat and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Vagabond (Base Game)
Collector
Have at least one of each kind of item at once.

You'll need to collect at least one bag, boot, coin stack, crossbow, hammer, sword, torch and root tea. Each Vagabound starts with a torch and is provided a boot, a bag, a hammer and a sword from the four ruins. The coin stack, crossbow and root tea need to be crafted, gained from another player by aiding them or found in the Vagabound's starting equipment.
In regards to the last option, the Thief begins the game with a root Tea, the Ranger and Scoundrel start with a crossbow, the Vagrant holds a coin stack and the Harrier has both a coin stack and a crossbow.
The Vagrant and Scoundrel are part of the Riverfolk Expansion, while the Harrier is included in the Exiles and Partisans and Vagabonds DLC.

Socialite
Improve your relationship with 3 different factions in one game.

Simply hand at least one card to each of the players; reaching the first relationship level is enough. Remember that you won't be able to improve your relationship with players after you've attacked them.

Vagabond Commander
Command allied warriors to move or battle.

The Vagabound gains the ability to move or fight alongside another player's warriors placed on the same clearing the Vagabound is at by improving their relationship with said player three times. Attacking the player at any point will prevent you from improving your relationship further.

Vagabond King
Win 25 games as the Vagabond.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Vagabond and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Vagabond (Riverfolk Expansion)
The Riverfolk Expansion includes 3 new kinds of Vagabond alongside two achievements that require them.

Bodyguard
Assist 10 players in battle as the Arbiter.

This achievement heavily relies on other players assisting you by making use of the Arbiter's ability. You'll essentially have to try to position yourself in clearings with potential for battles and hope. Aside from that, try chatting with other players in multiplayer rounds to encourage them.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrel
Remove 10+ pieces in a single action with the Scoundrel's Scorched Earth ability.

Simply use the ability on a clearing on which there are ten or more tokens, buildings or warriors in any combination.
Factions - Woodland Alliance
All Your Base
Have all three bases on the map at once.

Placing a base requires you to have a sympathy token on a clearing matching its suit and removes a number of matching supporters. Each base uses a different suit, so you'll have to take over and then hold a rabbit, mouse and fox clearing simultaneously.
Thanks to the guerrilla war ability, your warriors are excellent at defending clearings even in low numbers, so you should have an easy time defending each base with the limited warriors available.

Revolutionary
Destroy 5 or more enemy pieces in a single revolt.

Trigger a revolt on a clearing which holds five or more enemy tokens, buildings or warriors in any combination.

Liberator of the Woodlands
Win 25 games as the Woodland Alliance.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Woodland Alliance and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Lizard Cult (Riverfolk Expansion)
Faithful Crusader
Crusade 15 times.

For this one, your actions are counted across matches, so you'll unlock it sooner or later just by playing. Crusading allows you to move then fight in exchange for 2 acolytes, so focus your acolyte spending on it.

It's All Connected
Perform 3+ Conspiracies in a single round.

Conspiracies are the three actions you can perform in exchange for acolytes. While performing sanctify needs three acolytes, crusade and convert only use two, requiring you to save up 6 acolytes in order to perform the three required conspiracies.

Cult Leader
Win 25 games as the Lizard Cult.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Lizard Cult and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Riverfolk Company (Riverfolk Expansion)
Corner the Market
Establish a Trade Post in every river clearing.

This includes only the clearings with access to a body of water. The autumn map has five such river clearings, the lake and winter maps each have four and the mountain map has just three, making it the easiest for this achievement.
The lake and mountain map are part of the Underworld Expansion.

Prosperous Peddler
Sell 100 services.

This is counted across matches, so you'll probably get it at some point during regular play. To make it quicker, simply select the lowest price for your services - beyond that, you're at the mercy of the other players.

Company Man
Win 25 games as the Riverfolk Company.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Riverfolk Company and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Corvid Conspiracy (Underworld Expansion)
Kaboom!
Remove 5 or more enemy pieces with a single Bomb Plot.

Flip a bomb plot on a clearing which holds five or more enemy tokens, buildings or warriors in any combination.

Plotter
End a turn with one of each Plot type on the map.

You'll need to place at least one bomb, extortion, snare and raid plot on the map. The plots don't have to be placed in a single turn and it doesn't matter whether they're flipped or not.

Grand Conspiracy
Win 25 games as the Corvid Conspiracy.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Corvid Conspiracy and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Underground Duchy (Underground Expansion)
Lord of all Lords
Have all three lord ministers in play at once.

You'll lose one of your highest ministers whenever one of your buildings is destroyed, meaning to get this achievement you'll have to prevent any building destruction for at least two turns. You should group your buildings on only a couple of clearings and keep those well protected. Besides this, do your best to ensure you can actually sway the lords by influencing your hand cards and/or ensuring you have tiles on clearings matching your hand cards' suits.
Avoid going for this achievement in games with factions that can destroy your buildings directly without counterplay, such as the Lizard Cult or the Scoundrel Vagabound.

Underground Express
Move 5 or more warriors from the Burrow to the map in a single move.

Simply recruit or move at least 5 warriors into your burrow, then bring them out in a single move action.

Underground Supremacy
Win 25 games as the Underground Duchy.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Underground Duchy and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Lord of the Hundreds (Marauder Expansion)

All the Feels
Experience every mood in a single game as Lord of the Hundreds.

For this one you'll have to be mindful of the items you add to your hoard, since each kind disables one of the moods from being chosen. Simply note down which moods you've already used and only choose items corresponding to them.

Crushing Dominion
Oppress 7 clearings in one turn as the Lord of the Hundreds.

You'll have to have warriors on 7 clearings that have nothing else on it, meaning many fights are needed.
This mainly relies on your enemies being bad at keeping you in check. Try to build up as many warriors as possible and stuff your hoard so you have many actions available.

Dissenters will Burn
Remove 10 or more enemy pieces in a single turn as Lord of the Hundreds.

Build up your hoard so you have a bunch of actions - defeating warriors will be the main source of removed pieces. Beyond that, use your mobs to get rid of some additional buildings and tokens.
This achievement counts all possible types of piece removal, so things like the favour cards also count towards it.

Hundreds Reign
Win 25 games as the Lord of the Hundreds.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Lord of the Hundreds and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Factions - Keepers in Iron (Marauder Expansion)

Full Assembly
Have a full Retinue (10 cards) as Keepers in Iron.

For this one, try to place all 3 waystations to maximise your card draw, then save your cards for the retinue.
Adding 10 cards shouldn't be an issue and you'll mainly have to avoid losing them. Cards are removed when delving for relics while not ruling at least the number of clearings around them equal to the relic's value. Recovering relics will also remove a card if you're not ruling as many clearings matching the clearing you're recovering on as the relic's value. Keep an eye out for both cases and play it safe, only recovering relics of unknown value while ruling 3 clearings around them.

No Badger Left Behind
Complete a game without losing any warriors to Live off the Land as Keepers in Iron.

You may have at most 3 warriors on any clearing at the end of your turn for the an entire match. Prioritize movement actions on your retinue to empty overfilled clearings and be mindful of the Vagabond gaining allied status with you and moving your warriors around.

Relic Mastery
Score 3 columns of Relics in a single game as Keepers in Iron.

You'll need to collect 3 of each type of relic for this. The biggest problem will be you winning the match before gathering all 9, as they'll give you a lot of victory points. Even if you only take the lowest valued relics, you'll still amass a minimum of 19 victory points, with up to 26 being possible if you take the highest value ones.
Thus, make sure to collect as many 1- and 2-point value relics as possible and don't get a fourth in any row. Also avoid destroying buildings or tokens and don't craft any cards that give you points. You should also prioritize movement actions on your retinue to reach the spread-out relics.

Iron WIll
Win 25 games as the Keepers in Iron.

Wins in challenges count towards the win achievements, so make sure to complete all challenges relevant to the Keepers in Iron and look out for ones you can easily win if you want to grind the achievement out quicker.
Maps - Lake (Underworld Expansion)
Amphibious Warfare
Start a battle in a clearing you just moved to with the Ferry.

On the lake map, using a move action on the clearing the ferry is on allows you to move to any clearing next to the lake. Simply use this to enter a clearing with enemy warriors on it and have an action available to initiate battle with them.

Ferrier
Use the Ferry 20 times.

This achievement can be completed over multiple matches. The lake map ferry can be used once per turn to move pieces from the clearing it is in to another clearing adjacent to the lake.
Maps - Mountain (Underworld Expansion)
Mountaineer
Clear 20 closed paths.

For this one, your progress is counted across matches. The mountain map features a bunch of initially blocked path, any of which you can open up in exchange for a card. This can be done at most once per turn and is of course limited by the number of blocks still present.

Towering Success
Score the Tower for 3 turns in a row.

The tower in the middle of the mountain map rewards you a victory point if you're ruling its clearing at the very end of your turn. You don't have to rule throughout the three turns, but if an enemy takes over the tower, you'll need a way to take back control during your turn.
Thanks for reading
I hope this guide could assist you in getting all achievements. Make sure to tell me in case I messed something up or didn't make things clear enough at any point.

Also, consider rating the guide and/or dropping an award if it helped you. It’d be much appreciated.

the dirty rotten scoundrel ability is bugged as it does not trigger the achievement after you torch 10+ pieces on a clearing

Towering Success - It helps to be the Lizards (automatic rule if you have a garden there) or the Cats (lots of warriors). Eyrie and Moles are fairly good, too.
