Flatout 2 Small Improvements

A simple guide on addig a little improvements to Flatout 2 using three simple mods.
The mods include: Improved & fixed aspect ratio, better fov, fixed scale, higher quality and upscaled textures, hd hud, new lore friendly expanded soundtrack.

What you need:

• ZPatch FO2 by Zolika1351. Download here[zolika1351.pages.dev]
  
• FlatOut 2 Alternate Textures And Extras by Thrillvilled. Download here[www.nexusmods.com]
  
• Bugbear Entertainment Collection by Lughzi Download here[www.nexusmods.com]
  
• WinRar or 7zip use the one you like.
  
• Any text editing software Notepad is more than enough, but im going to use Notepad++

Install Step: One

After downloading the files, all of them should be in rar or zip format, in my case its rar.

Using WinRar or 7zip extract the files to your choosen location where you can easily access the files.

After extracting the files there should be 3 folders as shown here.

If you done have the 3 folders and extracted all the files you can go to Step 2.

Install Step: Two

Now that you have all the files extracted, you need to open the Flatout 2 main directory.

To do that go to your steam library list, then right click on Flatout 2, choose "Manage", then "Browse local files".


Now you should see the untouched FO2 main directory as shown here.

Now you can continue with Step 3.

Install Step: Three

First install is ZPatch.

Open the ZPatchFO2 folder and you should see six files as shown here.

Copy all six files then move them to the Flatout 2 main directory and overwrite if asked.


Now you can continue with Step 4.

Install Step: Four

The second install is FO2 Alternate Textures And Extras

Open the FO2 Alternate Textures And Extras folder then you should see one file as shown here.


Copy the file then move it to the Flatout 2 main directory as shown here.


Now you can continue with Step 5.

Install Step: Five

The third install is Bugbear Entertainment Collection

Open the Bugbear Entertainment Collection folder then you should see these two files shown here.


Copy the file named Music.bfs, then move it to the Flatout 2 main directory as shown here.


Now you can continue with Step 6.

Install Step: Six

Now that you moved all the files, you need to find a file in the Flatout 2 main directory named "patch".

Open the file using your preferred text editor software. Im going to use Notepad++
You now should see the following text lines shown here.


Now copy the name of "FO2 Alternate Textures And Extras.bfs" and "Music.bfs" files, and add them to the patch files lines as shown here.


Now all you need to do is save, then you can close the text editor.

All the install steps are done, you can continue to the finale now.

The Finale & Credits

If you done everything by the guide you can now start your game and enjoy the improved game.

  • - Upscaled Textures
    1. Upscaled most Menu textures like track icons, car icons and more to 4k
    2. Upscaled the HUD to 4k
    3. Upscaled the font to 4k
    4. Upscaled car engines and interiors to 1k
    5. Upscaled Driver textures using Topaz Gigapixel Ai
    6. Ported over the player driver skins from FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage
    
  • - Extras
    1. Removed overlay filters
    2. Removed silly speedlimits on all the cars
    3. Stunt cars have different drive modes making them unique

So, what now. Is this actually good?

@mirddes I looked into it, and tested it both career and quick races, even on modded maps and my conclusion is that its fully compatible, just make sure you installed FOJ Part 1-3, Part 4 (Carpack 2) and Updates 2 (Part5) then install the mods here.

the bots now seem absolutely retarded, with all 7 bots consistently wrecking themselves most races.

seems to be incompatible with FOJ
please apply all of this to FOJ
