How to Beam Attack

A hidden tool in your arsenal.

A brief tutorial

Aim towards the ground. Jump and melee shortly after (similar to a rocket jump from other FPS games). If it works you will be launched high vertically and your gun will be held sideways with a sigil on the end. Fire once to shoot a piercing beam.

The effect expires even if you do not shoot. If you are holding the fire button before doing this technique you will need to release before you can shoot the beam.

This technique has poor horizontal mobility, and cannot be aimed like a traditional rocket jump. Do it near a wall to chain in into a wallrun to increase your mobility.

Too many bugs between you and the floor can block your swing from hitting the ground, so make sure you have some clearing.

I found it odd that the game does not teach you about this and expects you to find out about it organically. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how I got this to happen occasionally. I hope this guide saves someone else that frustration.

@JarlVanHoother You don't need to fire to charge the attack but of course you do need to fire to use the beam. But yes getting the beam just involves hitting the ground with your melee attack at the start of a jump.
