AMX-56 Leclerc - french modern main battle tank. The tank was created by GIAT (now Nexter) in the 1980s to replace the outdated AMX-30 tank. Serial production started in 1992. As of 2010, there is no further production of the Leclerc. In 2011, 354 tanks of this type are in service with France, another 388 are in service with the army of the United Arab Emirates. Before the advent of the South Korean K2 Black Panther and the Japanese Type 10, it was considered the most expensive MBT. The main weapon of Leclerc is a 120-mm smoothbore gun model CN-120-26, with a barrel length of 52 calibers (6240 mm), equipped with an automatic loader and stabilized in two planes.
