Dragon Age Origins - Ultimate Edition
Dragon Age: Origins - Mod Manager✅
Mod Manager allows for the installation of game modifications released DAzips.

Download Link[www.nexusmods.com]

  • First Step

Create a Override Folder. Its the same method that we use in DA2 modding and is the simplest so we'll cover thats first.
(Documets > BioWare > Dragon Age > packages > core)
Now create a "override" folder.

  • DAO Mod Manager:

Unpack the file it to your drive location of choice.
Open the folder and start the DAO-Modmanager.exe.

If you downloaded the mods of your choice, unpack the file and open it.
Now start the mod manger and drag & drop the ".dazip" file in to the "Installed DAzips" section.

Just test it with one mod to check everything works fine.

If you want to uninstall mods, just right click the mod of your choice and select "Uninstall".

4GB Patch ✅
Download[ntcore.com]

Start the patch and select the "DAOrigins.exe" and klick OK.

CharGenMorph Compiler ✅
Download[www.nexusmods.com]

CharGenMorph Compiler automates the process of merging chargenmorphcfg.xml files, searching through all override directories and reconstructing a singular "master" xml file containing all the values.

  • Important Notes
===========================================================================
-Do not run this program from within the Dragon Age/Dragon Age 2 override directory.
-Ensure your paths are setup correctly.
-Ensure you have full administrator privileges when running the program.
-Ensure your anti-virus/spyware/firewall software, etc has the DA_CharGenMorphCompiler.exe executable file marked as "trusted." There have been reports of Comodo interfering with the correct operation of this program and producing errors.
-The .NET Framework 4.0 is required, download it from Microsoft.

*This program expects individual mods to be installed into separate subfolders within your override directory. You should extract each cosmetic mod into a separate, dedicated subfolder if you want this program to work properly - throwing all your xml files into one folder will not work!

Improved Atmosphere ✅

When you played Dragon Age, were you disappointed by the lack of life in towns? Were you bothered by the fact that most ambient NPC’s after Ostagar refused to move a muscle and were instead just hopelessly standing in one place? Did you enjoy hearing your companions interact with each other, but were disappointed there were so few instances in which they would engage in conversation? How about more variety when it comes to your own equipment and also that of the NPC’s? Wanted the bodies of your victims to remain after you slew them?

This mod attempts to negate all of these shortcomings, and much more. And the best part about it? It's modular; you can use everything it has to offer or only a small portion of it.

  • Greatly improved NPC (both minor and major) ambient behavior routines. Their list of activities now includes, but is not limited to, talking, walking, drinking, sitting, resting and forging.
  • Increased number of non-combatant NPC's and non-hostile animals, closing the gap between the number of enemies versus number of friendlies.
  • Dozens of new item color tints and hundreds of new items--armors, weapons, clothes, etcetera--made with the intention of providing more customization options, for both the playable characters and non-playable characters.
  • Revised appearance and statistics (optional) of most original items, tended to in an effort to give each item an unique look and to close a large gap in item statistics between the most powerful items and other items of a similar quality--in short, all unique items are now more or less useful throughout the whole game.
  • Increased amount of party banter triggers (placed in sensible areas of the maps), making it possible to hear most, if not all, interactions between party members in a single playthrough.
  • Increased number of gameplay opportunities, in-game encounters and role-playing possibilities. This was accomplished by fixing bugs that were never tended to by the developers, restoring cut content, as well as adding new--lore friendly--content.

Dragon Age - Lighting Enhanced ✅

  • Important Notes
===========================================================================
Anti-aliasing needs to be disabled from the Dragon Age Launcher in order for this mod to work, the mod has SMAA implemented, and you can force AA from your graphic card control panel.
===========================================================================

Basically this mod adds:
  • Sharpening through Lumasharpen
  • DPX
  • Subtle Bloom
  • Tonemapping and Contrast adjustment
  • SMAA

  • Installation:

1) If you are using the ENB version, you need to download these ENB files. If you are using the NON-ENB version, just skip to point 3.

2) Unzip the downloaded ENB file; and copy the contents to your "Dragon Age\bin_ship" folder (Where daorigins.exe is)

3) Download the file uploaded here, extract it, and copy all the files inside the ‘Core’ folder to your "Dragon Age\bin_ship" folder, overwrite when prompted.

4) The second folder 'SweetFX Settings' contains various presets, if you want to use them, just copy the "SweetFXsettings.txt" in the selected folder to "Dragon Age\bin_ship" and overwrite the default one.

5) Open DAOriginsConfig.exe and DISABLE Anti-aliasing, SweetFX does not work with DA:O's AA; I have enabled SMAA in SweetFX, if you need more AA, you can force it from your graphic cards control panel.

6) Run the Game! "Shift+F12" toggles ENB, "F11" toggles SweetFX.

Tinimaus and SarahCousland's - the Rescue at Ishal ✅
  • Important Notes
===========================================================================
NOT recommended for first-playthrough's
===========================================================================

This mod extends the ending of the battle of Ostagar (mod contains spoilers). It adds two new cutscenes and two new pre-filmed movies, showing details of the devastating aftermath of the battle, what happened to Alistair and the Warden after the tower ambush. Lore-friendly. For all races, genders, and origins.

Following Loghain's betrayal and the ambush at the top of the tower,
both Alistair and the Warden are left to die at the hands of the darkspawn.
A gravely injured Alistair attempts to shield his fellow Warden from further harm, not knowing Flemeth is on her way to rescue them both.

This was a part of the story that Bioware chose not to include in the vanilla game.

It will add two brand new cutscenes mixed with two new pre-filmed bink videos (BIKs) that show the devastation of the Ostagar battle and the narrow rescue of Alistair and the Warden by Flemeth. It will play after the tower ambush and before you wake up in the Korcari Wilds with Morrigan.

Based on Dragon Age lore, the identity of Flemeth, and Morrigan's comments about Flemeth turning into a "giant bird" we decided that it was very possible that Flemeth shapeshifted into her well-known dragon form for the rescue.

JB3textures ✅

BioWare released Dragon Age: Origins recently, but many textures throughout the game are noticeably low-resolution. This texture package gives the game new, resized textures (Using fractal method, fake HDR and my own photoshop methods) and many textures are reworked. With JBtextures, the world of Dragon Age: Origins will look significantly more detailed!

  • Need 75% less memory then version 2.1.
  • Many textures rework for high detail.
  • Faster loadings.
  • No more black and corrupted textures.
  • High textures resolution for: objects, armors, terrains, creatures.

Game engine is bad, have memory leak. Use only JB3 main file, and updates, don't use optional files if you have any problems with graphic in game, like glitches, black textures. Game work better on 64 bit systems.

I recommended use only ONE optional pack. Choose which one you want. With only ONE game will be ok, you can try with TWO but it can be problems in Denerim. With more then TWO will be problem with memory leak in all gameplay.

Before installing, know that JB3textures needs more RAM and VRAM from your computer than the game's default textures (Double the amount). Expect the game's loading times to increase (5 - 10 seconds more than usual).

Installation instructions:

Use only JB3 main file to get 100% compatibility whithout glitches and memory leak problems. Use optional files, and test what you'r pc can handle. With all optional files is 99% you will get memory leak!

Memory leak is game engine problem, this old bug, but BioWare never repair this.

Dude... In order for the 4gb patch to do anything, you need to literally replace the DAorigins.exe with a copy that isn't broken. Why would you not mention the most critical step in the entire mod list? The game does not work otherwise

Finally a stable modlist that doesn't crash and has just the right amount of content!~ Thank you for the amazing guide, btw I was wondering if its possible to modify the list further with a few gameplay tweaks on my own accord without breaking the game or do I not touch on anything further?
