Improvements for Splinter Cell: Conviction
By Joshhhuaaa and 1 collaborators
This guide will show you how to improve your experience in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, and optimize it for modern computers.

Ubisoft discontinued the servers for Conviction in September 2023. However, the multiplayer is still playable when using virtual LAN applications.

Black and White Filter - Disabled

Note: With the black and white filter disabled, you can determine if you're hidden in shadows by checking the HUD area displaying your weapon and gadgets. It will appear gray when you're hidden and black when you're outside of shadows.

Character Lighting - Enabled (Default)

Character Lighting - Disabled

Note: Character lighting includes all non-playable characters, such as enemies, who will no longer be lit in the dark, making them harder to spot when in the shadows.

Note: The Blacklist Control Scheme currently disables rolling and sliding and may have other issues. If you're using keyboard and mouse, ensure to disable this scheme because it will disable those actions for your input as well. I do not personally recommend using Blacklist Control Scheme due to these limitations.
Insurgency Pack (DLC) Download
As of March 1st, 2024, Insurgency Pack is no longer available on the Steam store. Only previous owners can download it from their Steam library.

If you have purchased the Insurgency Pack downloadable content for Conviction, you may have noticed that the DLC is not being activated and the levels are not accessible.

This issue surfaced after the Uplay servers were shut down in June 2021 since the DLC was previously activated through the Uplay servers.

ThirteenAG Fusion Mod now includes the option to restore DLC that was unavailable after the server shutdown.

How To:
Copy content of archive to the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction folder.

You will now have access to the Insurgency Pack DLC:
  • San Francisco, CA
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Portland, ME
  • Salt Lake City, UT
Coop & Multiplayer Framerate
Conviction's Coop & Multiplayer uses a synchronization system that requires both players to have the same frames per second.

By default, the frame rate for Coop & Multiplayer is locked at 30 frames per second. Depending on the quality of the connection, it's possible to achieve a stable 120 FPS.

How To:
ThirteenAG Fusion Mod allows for adjusting the sync frequency via a configuration file:
src / system / update / convictionsettings.ini
[NetZ] MAX_SILENCEDTIME=30000 SyncMinInputDelay=0 SyncMaxInputDelay=200 SyncInitialInputDelay=1 SyncInitialStepFrequency=10 SyncMaxStepFrequency=60

Using the SyncMaxStepFrequency parameter, you can specify the FPS limit for Coop & Multiplayer. By default, ThirteenAG Fusion Mod sets the FPS limit to 60, instead of Conviction's default 30 FPS.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previously, unlocking Conviction's Coop & Multiplayer FPS involved running an executable each time to hook into the game. Now, using ThirteenAG Fusion Mod is recommended over this older method, though you can still try this method if encountering issues.

Conviction Coop FPS Unlocker v1.1[drive.usercontent.google.com]
Original Post for the Conviction Coop FPS Unlocker

How To:
Run the "ConvictionCoopFPSUnlocker" executable and follow the instructions on the command prompt window.

It's recommended to use the Simple mode and enter an approximate ping value for you and your teammate to allow the tool to determine optimal settings for the session.

After obtaining the ping value between you and your teammate, the tool will automatically inject into the game when it is brought into focus. The command prompt window will close automatically once the tool is injected.

Note: If you run the tool while in an online game session, the FPS unlock will only apply once the host returns to the lobby.
Coop & Multiplayer LAN Restoration
Ubisoft discontinued Conviction's servers in September 2023. Coop & Multiplayer were previously unplayable when using LAN because the game relied on servers for LAN sessions. However, a workaround has been created to be able to play the game on LAN with the servers offline.

ThirteenAG Fusion Mod includes a fix to make LAN accessible again and redirects gsconnect.ubi.com, so you can skip modifying the Hosts file when using the Fusion Mod.

How To:
Download and extract the archive. Use the included shortcut "Shortcut to Hosts file" or navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Open the hosts file using a text editor, and add this entry to your hosts file:

Run the command script, "FlushDNS.cmd" to flush your DNS cache or use command prompt and type:
ipconfig /flushdns

Run the "scc_lan_helper" executable as an administrator before starting the game and keep the command window open while playing the game.
Mouse Polling Rate
Currently, many mice come with polling rates that can reach 1000 Hz or higher. However, in Conviction, higher polling rates may cause issues with your mouse aim. If your mouse allows it, try setting the polling rate to 125 Hz through software. This issue also applies to all games in the series, from the original Splinter Cell to Splinter Cell: Blacklist. It is possibly related to the use of the Unreal Engine 2.

Update: We got it to work. Just slight desync at times. I'm just an idiot.

Great Guide +1

I'm sorry to revive this old post. But currently I am having difficulty trying to understand how to get a basics on how to get a Co-op game going. We have downloaded "ThirteenAG's Fusion Mod" and applied them to the correct file hierarchy but we can not find each other when "creating" a game or looking for one. Is Radmin or a VPN still needed? Any help is much appreciated.

So far...
We both have "ThirteenAG's Fusion Mod" filed correctly (we go to the load screen immediately)
We can search for LAN (which would stop us bc need of servers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But we can not connect or find each other.

Hi i just finished with the installments of the deniable ops DLC bonus maps and i'm glad i can finally play them, however i ran into a weird issue : When i play ONLY on those maps, Music, gunshots sounds and then some are missing.
I can still hear dialogue, movement, Hand to Hand takedowns, just fine but can't hear my silenced gun or the music when near enemies
And when i tried on the pre-existing maps, sound work as intended
Just wondering if anyone else had that problem and,if so, did anyone manage to solve it and how?

You installed the fusion mod right? It's required for the DLC maps to appear on the list.

You also need to scroll or press down while on the last map, and it will continue scrolling, you will not see the DLC until you scroll down the map list. Some people don't realize that since the GUI is kinda confusing and didn't put a scroll bar.

Hey idk if anyone is still playing conviction anymore but i've recently re-purchased it after seeing it on sale to replay the campaign and the Hunter game mode in Deniable Ops. I've been struggling to get the DLC maps working even after installing the files in this guide. Idk if i've installed it wrong or anything, any help would be appreciated.

I'm really grateful for the work that went into this, especially giving us the opportunity to play the Third Echelon map for Deniable Ops. So damn cool!

To get this mod working on the steam deck:

Go to: "/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction/src/system/"

Then rename: "version.dll" to "d3d9.dll"
