Most of the mod files you can find for Resident Evil 4 comes from Nexus Mods. Yes there are some alternatives; but mostly they are re-uploads and most of them are not in consent of their original authors.

Unfortunately, Nexus Mods requires creating an account to download files. You can simply create one by clicking register[users.nexusmods.com] button in the top right corner of the screen and filling the registration form with your information.

For some reason, few mods are only be shared from a Discord server. To download these mods, you need to have a Discord account to join their server. To create an account, follow through this[support.discord.com] guide. You can join Modding Haven server from here.[discord.gg]

You can find many mods that's exclusive to this server under discord-exclusives channel, which can also be found right under ==== THE LOUNGE ==== category. You can filter other mods that made for other games by clicking RE4 button above the mod list. Many mods move on to other platforms eventually if you don't want to join a Discord server.

Almost every CAPCOM game utilises the revolutionary REngine. But it's not the only thing they have in common. If you want to install mods for them, from Street Fighter to Devil May Cry - it's best to use Fluffy Mod Manager. You can download the tool from here.[fluffyquack.com] Extract it wherever you want to, then run the FluffyModManager.exe and follow through.

There is a choose game button on the bottom right corner, pick Resident Evil 4 Remake. Be sure to click the downloads button and download the background and logo textures from under the Fluffy Mod Manager Upgrades tab for the better looks. It's optional though. Another optional, but convenient thing to do is clicking options from bottom right corner of your screen and turning off the category mod list view setting.

Manager might ask where you keep your game, this was not in my case, it just automatically found where it is. But if it asks, just follow through and show where your game files are. All steam games are under steamapps/common folder. In this case, your game folder will be named RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4.

Now from options, press Open mods folder tab. Your explorer will bring a new tab, and this is where you'll be deploy your desired mods. Keep them in compressed files, such as .rar or .zip or extract them under a folder - it doesn't matter. It's really up to you. But keeping it clean is recommended. After you deployed all mods, you can press Refresh mod list tab to make them appear in the tool.

When you deployed your desired files, just turn their tick on from Fluffy Mod Manager. To uninstall, just turn the tick back off, or use Uninstall all mods tab from top right corner. If you're unable to run game after modding, be sure to remove all of your mods and use the Re-read game archives tab, right above the uninstall all mods tab.

Finally, most of the mods require the REFramework to function. You can download it from here,[github.com] just scroll down and press on RE4.zip. Install this like it's just another mod with Fluffy Mod Manager.
Mods will not block any achievements or game progress unless explicitly stated. None of the mods listed above have such problems. They do not interfere with your save data, except for the Additional Save Slots. It's always better to be safe than sorry, so remember to back up your save data regularly to prevent any loss of data.

To back up your save files, navigate to your main Steam directory where you first installed Steam. Then, go to the userdata folder. There may be more than one folder in this directory, so make sure you're going into the one with your desired Steam account's ID. For Resident Evil 4 Remake, you need to copy the folder named 2050650. You can then paste it wherever you want to keep it.

Also a pro-tip, just change the folder icon of both your userdata folder and game folder for future visits.
You don't have to backup your game files. Mods won't mess up with them, and even if they do - just use Fluffy Mod Manager's remove all mods feature, and right-click Resident Evil 4 Remake on your Steam library, select properties from the menu and navigate into Local Files tab. Then select Verify integrity of game files option. Just do this in worst case scenario, like constant game crashes when mods removed etc.

Classic Gameplay, when used in pair with Relentless Enemies, because on its own, it's a little bit like cheating. One-shot staggering everyone is not designed for this game as they don't react fast enough. But the other mod makes them, so it's still on fair ground. Actually, combining these two make for a better gameplay feel than both the original and remake. It's more challenging too. Just turn off the Ganado Rush option; it's just boring.

Supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.

Kick Open Doors with only door kicking enabled it is a great mod to fill the gap that the remake created. It's not super useful, but it comes in handy when you need it. In many cases, you wonder why CAPCOM decided to remove this feature in the first place.

Supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.

Manual Flashlight is a great small script that both disables Leon's automatic ability to use a flashlight and allows users to manually open it. In some areas, it would be really useful because the remake really likes dim and dark lightning.

Adjust Crafting Ammo halves gunpower requirements to craft ammo types, while also reduces the result by 2/3. You also spent same amount of resources, so it's fair and balanced. Vanilla really requires many gunpowders to craft, especially Shotgun and Magnum ammo. In many cases, I rather craft a flashbang instead of crafting an ammo - because it's cheaper and feels more effective. With this mod, I've many options.

Nightmare - AI Changes Only while I don't like the difficulty design of this mod, this small add-on that works without base mod is a great complimentary mod for Relentless Enemies. From my testing, enemies will try to flank you from off-screen angles more and they stay less passive when paired with Relentless Enemies.
Download it from here[www.nexusmods.com] from miscellaneous files area.

Hardcore and Professional Mercenaries is a great mod that overrides game's difficulty parameters in The Mercenaries to make enemies more aggressive. Also can be turn on and off whenever you want.
You can download from here.[www.nexusmods.com]
Supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.

Dynamic Weapon Profiles is a comprehensive mod that offers various options for players, including the built-in Better Weapon Balance, Extra Dismemberment, OG Stagger, Shotgun Slug Options, and No Reticle. These features allow for a more balanced and immersive gameplay experience, without the need to rely on meta weapons.

Supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.

FX Remover with Color Correction turned off. I love the remake's art direction, but the blue tint is not for my style. When turned off, you immediately notice the difference, and it pays homage to the original better without tinkering with reshade or Nvidia color filters.

Longer Brighter Laser, as its name states, makes your laser slightly more visible. Your 10 spinels that have been spent for the laser sight would recommend this.

Red Herb Fix because they're meant to be red, not pink.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Ashley Classic Eye Color just because eyes will turn red when she's under influence of Las Plagas, and golden eyes really suits her well. It's also more original-friendly. New Ashley is better though.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Killer 7 Alteration because the big 80's laser on top of a weapon is not something that I fond of. This mod will move the laser to beneath the barrel, like a sane person do even if it's 2005.

Black T-Shirt is just what it's author said, a simple re-texture of Leon's t-shirt from Navy Blue, to black. A simple change makes all the difference, it looks better and makes Leon's look more significant to his original counterpart.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Ashley Casual Outfit Extras Pack adds so many new options for Casual Ashley outfit. From hair colors to tight options, you might find something you like. I recommend fishnets for tights.

Simple UI - Mercenaries we all can agree that The Mercenaries' UI have an outdated design. This simple mod attempts to fix it with removing a bunch of stuff and moves some elements for a cleaner look. Mayhem bar is now on bottom left corner screen, and that's a great reason to download this mod.

Mad Chainsaw Man replaces the Dr. Salvador's costume with his mad version from the demo. It's more pleasant to look at with it's distinctive look. Also suits the modded game better, if you've installed gameplay mods listed above.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Camera Backlight Disabler mod does exactly what its name implies. Disabling this feature creates a more immersive experience by removing the unrealistic glow surrounding the character. After all, in real life, none of us emit light, do we?

Supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.

Classic Jacket Retexture mod is a simple re-texture of Leon's default costume that pairs well with the Black T-Shirt. This creates an even more original look.

Riot Gun (2005) modifies meshes and textures of Riot Gun as the name implies, and brings it closer to it's original design. Chrome-silver finish looks so much better than the pale black.

Ultimate Face mod improves our protagonist's face to be more age appropriate, to make him more determined and more inline with original games.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Additional Save Slots is a great, small script mod that allows its users to have more than 20 save slots. Personally, I'm using separate completion save files, and they have already filled the 10 slots, so it's a blessing to have. I've set it manually to 40 save slots because, as its author states, it might corrupt your data. So, I decided the lower the value, the safer it is.

Better Gacha Tables make better use of your silver and gold coins while keeping it fair. You still miss all the charms on your fresh playthrough, but you're more likely to get what you want without spending hours in the shooting range.
Download it from here.[www.nexusmods.com]

Third Person Camera Controller allows you to tinker with the camera settings that the game doesn't allow you otherwise. It's relatively easy to use and keeps the game fresh with new angles.

Allow Costume Changing In-Game fixes a huge nuisance. Now you can switch costumes for Leon and Ashley on to go, even if menu says you can't. Funnily enough, there are some voice lines in-game that triggers when you switch a costume. This can't be installed via mod manager because it's a single .lua file. You have to place it in RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4\reframework\autorun to make it work.

Auto Save on Pro is a must-have mod. While the mod's name may suggest that it's a cheat, it's not. In fact, you can even set the mod to not enable its main feature, auto saving on professional difficulty. The mod allows you to reset the timer when loading a save after a game over, even if you choose the Load Game option instead of Continue. Without this mod, the timer would remain the same as the time when you got the game over, which can be frustrating.
Download it from here[www.nexusmods.com].
Auto Save on Pro supports REFramework's ScriptGeneratedUI.
You can press Insert button to bring up REFramework's menu. Although the menu has many tabs, most of them are irrelevant for the majority of users.
Consider disable the Camera tab as it can cause issues with menu screens and also disables vignette even when the option is unticked.
In the Graphics tab of the REFramework's menu, you'll find an option called Enable Scope Tweaks. I highly recommend enabling this option, as the default scopes in the game can be blurry and show jagged edges. By increasing the Scope Quality to 2 and turning on Enable Interlaced Rendering, you'll get much better scope visuals without any noticeable loss of performance. To improve your experience with an ultrawide monitor, you may want to activate the Ultrawide/FOV/Aspect Ratio Fix option. This will adjust the field of view and aspect ratio to fit your monitor's wider display.
If a mod comes with a built-in menu for adjusting its experience, you can find those options listed under the Script Generated UI tab in the REFramework menu. Some of the mods mentioned earlier will have their options available here. I've stated which ones have this feature below their images.

• NEW UPDATE FOR THE GAME, WHAT TO DO
You'll be mostly fine, but it's better safe than sorry. First, you should remove all mods by using Uninstall all mods feature of mod manager. Then when game has been updated, use Re-read game archives option on mod manager, then start installing back your mods.

If you have issues after game has been updated, uninstall your mods again and verify your game on Steam with Verify integrity of game files feature. Before installing mods again, use Re-read game archives option on mod manager, then start installing.
• MOD UPDATES, HOW TO INSTALL THEM
Some mods will update over time, but unfortunately, there is no option to update them with a single click. To keep your mods up to date, you must regularly check for updates manually. You can use this link[www.nexusmods.com] to find the latest updated mods. If you have previously downloaded a mod, you will see a small banner appear on top of the thumbnail image indicating that an update is available.

To update a mod, first uninstall the old version by turning off the mod's checkbox in the mod manager. Then delete the mod's files before installing the updated version into your mods folder. If you accidentally delete the files before turning off the mod's checkbox, don't worry. The mod manager will still keep track of the mod until you turn off the checkbox, at which point it will automatically remove the mod from the list.
• RIOT GUN BUG, LOST TEXTURES
With The Mercenaries update, Riot Gun uses new meshes and textures that identical to what it had prior. Most users are not aware of it. If you have this issue, simply remove all mods by using Uninstall all mods feature of mod manager, then verify your game on Steam with Verify integrity of game files feature. Before installing mods again, use Re-read game archives option on mod manager, then start installing.
• A MOD DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY
To fix any issues, you can use the REFramework's Reset Scripts function in the ScriptRunner tab. Also in same tab, try to turn off some scripts to find out what causes the trouble. Don't forget to save the game beforehand, because this feature might crash your game.
• IS MODS WORKING WITH THE PIRATED GAME?
I don't know, and certainly, i don't care. I do not condone piracy as long as it's not abandonware. Also, there are only one cracked version for RE4R out there, and it's from a schizo trans-phobic person. For your interest, one of the most known and most trusted re-pack creator known as FitGirl advised that schizo person can damage your software.
Game modding can offer several benefits and enhance the gaming experience in many ways, allows the players to customize the game to their liking, creating an unique and personal experience that can differ from the original game. Mods can add new content to a game, including new levels, characters, and items, that can increase the replayability of a game. Mods can improve the graphics, sound, and gameplay mechanics of a game, fixing bugs or enhancing certain features that players may not like about the base game.
I do not take credit from any of these mods, I did not participate on their creations, i'm just a messenger. Please don't forget to press Endorse button if you like the mod. It'll encourage the modders to keep going.
Also if you consider any of these mods as a cheat, there are better alternatives for cheating.

Also, clicking them causes larger versions of the image to pop up instead of just jumping to that section of the guide.

Still jumps to the right section of the guide though.

Small suggestion.

While it looks neat, the game font being used for the contents list on the right side of the guide makes it harder to read. Particularly at higher resolutions.

Probably better to go with the basic steam text.
