How to add custom models to your guns in CS:S

CS:S is a really fun game. But over time, those old gun models can get a bit boring. So i'm going to tell you how to swap your gun models for something else!

This guide won't tell you how to add custom playermodels, only gun models!

Step 1: Download Custom Models from a reliable website

From own experience, I really recommend GameBanana[gamebanana.com]. Once you've downloaded the models you want, extract the files to a location on your computer.

Step 2: Navigate to your custom folder

You can find the folder in your CS:S directory, which is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike. The cstrike folder should have the custom folder in it. If there's no custom folder somehow, just create it yourself.

Step 3. Extract your model to the custom folder

Now, your .rar/.zip with your model can look something like this:

I'll show you how to extract both of these types of models.

1. Four model folders
You need to create a folder, you can name it whatever you want (but to be more organized name it the name of the weapon). After creating the folder drag and drop those four model folders into the new folder you just created.


2. One .vpk file
There's no need to create a special folder for the model - just drag and drop it into the custom folder. It's that simple!

Step 4. Test out your new models!

Load up into CS:S, create a server and test out your models. If you can see them and there's no broken textures etc. you're all set! Have fun with your new models :D
