An Exhaustive Crypto Start Guide for Grey Hack
In Grey Hack, cryptocurrencies are player-made and player-driven currencies designed to facilitate trade between players and enable them to speculate on value. This guide aims to help you understand how to obtain and utilize these currencies.

This guide will be updated as new features and services go live within the game.

Setting Up a Master Wallet

To manage the various cryptocurrencies, you will first need to set up a master wallet.

Dependencies
Most cryptocurrencies require the blockchain.so library.
Download it by entering "apt-get install blockchain.so".


Creating the Wallet

• Visit the Shop: Search for a shop and go at least 30+ pages deep to find the wallet.
  
  
• Download and run the wallet through a terminal.
  
  
• Select [2] - Create Wallet to register your master wallet. Note that you can only create one of these per account, so it's crucial to keep it safe.
  
  
• Use a strong password and never store it anywhere within the game. A random string of alphanumeric characters is recommended (e.g., Ax8Swe43zPi5jJ)
  

It's essential to store your wallet login information outside the game because the in-game password tracker under "Accounts" does not function correctly.

If you need to recover your account, in case it has been hacked, the UI will not update to show the newly changed password.

Wallet Interface
You can buy and sell directly from the wallet, but it might be easier to use the Stocks.exe program for those options. Here's an overview of the wallet interface.


During the course of this guide, we'll be returning to the wallet interface at several points.
Take special note of option [6] as we'll be needing it shortly, to generate a temporary PIN code.

Stocks.exe

• Visit the Shop: Search for a shop and go at least 30+ pages deep to find Stocks.exe.
  
• Download Stocks.exe

The program provides a list of different coins, as well as whatever buy and sell orders are currently live on the market. It also allows you to post buy and sell orders of your own.

Change the coin you're viewing with the drop-down menu in the top left corner.


In the drop-down menu on the right, where it says "Sell coins" on the picture above, there's an option to check out your wallet details. You can use this menu to see what cryptocurrencies you currently own.

Disclaimer: The pricechart seen in the Stocks.exe program is currently not working as intended.
The values displayed on the chart are incorrect, instead, you'll have to rely on the list of buy and sell orders.

Purchasing Coins

• To purchase a coin (e.g., EliteCoin), set the menu to "Buy coins."
  
• Set the amount and unit price (e.g., 1 coin at $75).
  
• Double-check everything and click "Publish buy offer" to send out a buy order.
  
• If there are no corresponding sell orders meeting your criteria, you can either wait for your order to be fulfilled by another player or cancel your current listing.
  
• You can only have one active listing at a time, for a particular coin.

In this instance, our order isn't instantly filled, since the coin price closest to our specified max price is $77.

Deleting Listings

To cancel a listing, we have two options.
If we navigate to our wallet details within the Stocks program, there will now be an option to cancel our active listing.


The Stocks.exe program can be a bit buggy in certain circumstances, so we'll also be showcasing how to do it via. our wallet interface as well.

Go back to the wallet, log in with your saved details, and choose [4] - Cancel trade.
Enter the currency you want to cancel, and your buy offer will no longer be active in the stocks app.


We can now fill out an instant buy-order, instead. Make sure to view current sell offers on the left while you fill out your buy order on the right.

Selling Coins

To sell coins, list the current buy offers on the left and fill out your sell offer on the right.


That means we can either fulfill an instant offer to Eraser at $60 or set our price higher and wait for another player to provide a more lucrative buy offer.

Those are the basics of buying and selling coins on the Stocks platform.

BTC

Created by 3nigma
BTC is priced at $1 for easy 1:1 conversion and trading between players.

• Visit the in-game website of www.ancedbkv.info or 130.123.6.99 to access BTC.
  
• Download BTC, BTCshop, and if you want a little gambling, the BTCcasino software.

Registering a Subwallet

• Run the BTC binary from a terminal window and type "register."
  
  
  
• Fill out the required fields with strong and unique credentials.
  Here's an example password on the house: 25z5r!ay5NuDe2O09>€aU6Y8CmVg9
  
  
  It's important to note that whatever username you specify, will be assigned a random number at the end of it. Our username won't be XcXcsve3 like we chose, but instead, it will be XcXcsve3#123.
  
  You can choose to purchase a token in the BTC interface after registering, which will remove this identifier, for 7000BTC. To purchase it, choose the login option after launching the BTC binary.
  
  
  
• Store your BTC credentials outside the game.
  
• Connect BTC to your master wallet using either your wallet credentials or the wallet PIN.
  You can get a temporary wallet PIN in the wallet interface. [6]

It's much safer to use the PIN option, instead of the wallet password option.
You should only provide your wallet password if you really trust the creator, of whatever it is you're signing up for.

Even then, I'd strongly suggest you use the wallet PIN feature. It's there for a reason.



Purchasing BTC

• Run BTC and choose the buy option, then log in with your credentials.
  In this example, we'll log in with our wallet username and password.
  
  Again, I'd like to reiterate, you should only provide your wallet password if you have absolute trust in what it is you're providing it to. For demonstration purposes, I'm choosing the password option this time.
  
  
  
• Specify the amount of BTC you want to purchase.

While we're here, I'd also like to note that the safer option for obtaining BTC is through the Stocks program, instead of using the easy option built into BTC. To purchase through Stocks, simply create a buy offer like we showed you earlier and specify the unit price as $1 for BTC.

That's a judgment call you have to make for yourself, with every coin you choose to interact with.
The easy way, which requires trust, or the secure way.

Selling BTC through the BTC interface
To sell BTC, head back to the BTC wallet binary.

• When prompted on an action, specify "sell".
  
• Enter your wallet credentials
  
• Specify the amount to sell. It converts back to $ at 1:1 ratio.

BTC Shop

• Type BTCshop in a terminal to access the BTC Shop.
  
  
  
• Purchase player-made tools, learn from source codes, or buy pre-made tools like the enhanced decipher tool.
  
  
  
• We'll navigate to the [0] - TOOLS section, then purchase the Enhanced Decipher Tool.

When prompted for login information, provide your BTC credentials.

BTC Casino

• Type BTCcasino in a terminal to access the BTC Casino.
  
• Specify how many spins you would like to purchase.
  
  
  
• Each spin is 50 BTC.
  
• Spin to win.

Repeat steps 2 - 4 as much as required.

EliteCoin

Made by the Viper Team.

EliteCoin is mineable by players and used to pay for services associated with the Viper Ecosystem, such as remote storage via. OortCloud.

• Visit the in-game website dedicated to EliteCoin at www.viper.com or 170.220.64.188 to access its platform and services. You can also get it by adding the repository of the same IP.
  
• Download the EliteClient software from the website.
  
  
  
• You can also choose to download it by adding the repository

"apt-get addrepo 170.220.64.188"
"apt-get update"


To see everything available for download, you can use the "apt-get show 105.96.145.49"


You can then type "apt-get install EliteClient" to download and install the EliteClient.



Registering an EliteCoin Subwallet

• Run the EliteClient binary from a terminal window and choose "2 - Register" to sign up.
  
• Fill out the required fields with strong and unique credentials.
  Note that you do not have the option of using your wallet password, with the Elite Client.
  Only a temporary wallet PIN is accepted. Refer to the Wallet section of the guide, if you're unsure how to generate one.
  
  
  
• Store your EliteCoin credentials outside the game.
  
• To start mining, you'll have to log in with your newly made credentials, then choose the mining option.

Every mining cycle currently lasts for one real-life minute. Mining operates by assigning a probability of success to miners, based on their hash rate, and then choosing a winner from the current pool of active miners.

The probability of success is apportioned within specific boundaries, attempting a fair distribution among all participating miners.

As a result, it is essential to have a video card with a performance close to that of other miners, in order to receive an adequate share of the success chances and increase your likelihood of winning.

To achieve a higher hashrate, consider obtaining or upgrading your GPU.

Please note that the one-minute cycle timer is a result of a bug in Grey Hack's cryptocurrency API.
Upon resolution, mining cycles will be extended for longer durations.



EliteCoin Services
After acquiring the coin through mining or purchasing it from other players who have mined it, you can use the currency for any of the Viper Team's software purchases.

Currently, EliteCoin can be used in the following services:

• OortCloud Backup Service: Securely store and access your valuable data.
  
• More services coming soon!

ShadowCFT

Created by RocketOrbit
This section is still undergoing updates. Check back for a guide on pair switching in the future.

ShadowCFT is a player-driven cryptocurrency designed for fractional mining and trade.
Setting up ShadowCFT is a bit more involved than the previous two coins.

• Visit the in-game website or IP address dedicated to ShadowCFT to access its platform and services.
  
  
  
• The client is only available as source code, so download the client.src, we'll show you how to build it into a binary in the next step. The client requires the dependencies CFTAPI and shadowCoinsAPI, so download those to your /root folder as well.
  If you're planning on doing any mining, make sure to grab miner.src while you're here.
  
  
• Open up CodeEditor and load the .src file.
  
  
  
  
• You can now build the binary. Give the binary whatever name you want. I chose shadowClient.

If you keep your dependencies for shadowClient anywhere but the /root folder, you'll have to specify the path in the .src file before you build it. The lines in question have been underlined in red for your convenience.


Registering a ShadowCFT Subwallet
Start a terminal and start the ShadowCFT wallet binary, by typing out whatever it is you called it. I built mine with the name "shadowClient".

• Type register to start the sign-up procedure.
  
• Fill out the required fields with strong and unique credentials.
  
• Store your ShadowCFT credentials outside the game.
  
• Connect ShadowCFT to your master wallet using your wallet name and a temporary wallet PIN.

If you're not sure how to get a temporary wallet PIN, refer to the wallet section of the guide.

This guide won't be covering pair swapping at this moment, but you can use the wallet binary to check your different balances related to CFT.


Mining ShadowCFT
We're signed up to the subwallet, let's cover mining.

• Open up CodeEditor and load the miner.src file.
  
• Build the binary with whatever name you want. I called mine shadowMiner.
  
  
  If you keep the dependency "shadowCoinsAPI" anywhere aside from /root, make sure you update the path at the highlighted line.
  
• Start a terminal and start the miner binary, by typing out whatever it is you called it.
  In my case shadowMiner.
  
• Log in with your ShadowCFT credentials.
  
  
  
• Mining will start automatically once your credentials have been accepted.

Unlike EliteCoin, a coin is not guaranteed to be minted during each mining cycle for ShadowCFT.

When new coin generation is still available, the miner will continue running without stopping after each cycle completes.


However, if new coin generation has been stopped, restarting the miner will not help in this situation. The mining process can only resume once new coin generation becomes available again.


BONUS - Direct Cryptoswapping with ShadowBTC
Outside of directly purchasing the coin or mining the coin, we can also swap other crypto currencies directly to it.

• Head back to the shop and download the shadowBTC binary.
  
  
  
• Great! If you run the binary, you'll be prompted with whether you wish to trade your BTC to ShadowBTC, or the other way around.

We now have 50 ShadowBTC, which in turn can be used to transfer around for CFT, though we'd need a lot more than 50 for that.

This shows how if you mine ShadowCFT, you're not stuck in the Shadow Ecosystem, but can instead swap it to other crypotocurrencies directly in the shadowClient.


There are currently crypto swaps between BTC, ShadowBTC and ShadowCFT supported through the shadowBTC and shadowClient binaries.

Bonus - Reclaiming your Master Wallet

If another player has obtained the credentials to your Master Wallet, you can regain control by creating the filling out the following script in CodeEditor.

Replace the placeholders with your details and build it as a binary.

Read the disclaimers before proceeding, or risk losing access to your Master Wallet permanently.

This script requires the blockchain.so library to be located in the /lib folder. If you're unsure how to download it, refer to the beginning of this guide.

Before proceeding, ensure that you save your new password OUTSIDE of the game.
The in-game UI in the "Accounts" settings of your preferences does NOT update to reflect the updated password after using the recovery script.

This is a bug in the current build. Failure to save the new password may result in losing access to your Master Wallet, likely permanently.



Replace the following placeholders in the script:

• "YOURWALLETUSER": Replace this with the name of your Master Wallet.
  
• "CURRENTPASS": Replace this with the current password for your Master Wallet.
  
• "NEWPASSWORD": Replace this with your desired new password for the Master Wallet.

Build the binary and run it from a terminal.

Save your new credentials outside the game.
