oblivion has charm and is the best open world game ever
I think the loading screen part is rather silly, as I think we're all running systems fast enough there shouldn't be enough time to read what's on it.
I like the map style of Skyrim better, but I like how you can even fast travel to parts of towns/cities in Oblivion.
I prefer the journal/quest entries of Oblivion better - I like how it is more detailed.
As for inventory, I like Skyrim's better as it separates items better, and you get a visual of the item and can inspect it.
I do have a lot of hours in Skyrim, and not many in Oblivion as I started TES with Skyrim and am working my way backwards through the series.
