  • While there are some mission specific achievements, the game works in a mission select system so that you can play any of the unlocked missions anytime you want. So if you missed any achievements in a specific mission, you can simply replay that mission without breaking the game progress.
  • Each mission will record the highest difficulty you've played it in. This means you can play the game on any difficulty and if you want to try doing a mission specific achievement on an easier difficulty, you can do that anytime without it affecting any difficulty based achievements.
  • If you are very confident in your ability in playing fast paced action game with quick reaction times and micromanaging equipment, you can start the game on Prepare to Die difficulty. This difficulty will disable health regeneration and auto lock on for weapons. Meaning you won't be able to regenerate health during missions and you will have to manually press RMB (right mouse button) everytime you want to lock on to an enemy. Also enemies will be much more aggressive on this difficulty.
  • I should warn you that some of the late game boss fights and some specific missions will get very difficult in Prepare to Die difficulty. However, you do need to complete the whole game on this difficulty if you want to get all the achievements.
  • I have added some video guides with tips from my personal playthough for specific fights that I found difficult.
  • I have added spoiler tags to all the hidden achievements so you won't accidentally spoil the game while reading this guide.

Mission Specific Achievements

Secret Service Recruit
Prevented the Air Force One from taking any damage.

This can be achieved in Act 1 Mission 8 (AGAINST ALL ENEMIES). This can be a frustrating achievement. You need to finish the whole mission without the Air Force One taking a single enemy hit for this achievement to pop up.

I highly recommend playing this on Casual difficulty. You need to always be very close to the Air Force One and as soon as you detect new enemies, eliminate them quickly since most of them appear in front of the plane and target it immediately. The Air Force One can change its direction very rapidly which makes following it a bit difficult. However, keep in mind that enemies always spawn in front of the direction the plane is facing, which should help you pick them off quickly.

The problem isn't the plane getting destroyed, it's the fact that the plane getting hit by a single shot can cause you to lose this achievement for that single run. And you need to play the mission to its end (which would take around 9 minutes) for this achievement to trigger if you have met the conditions. The tricky part is, the plane's health is shown at the top right and it has a very high health amount so if it does get hit once, you won't be able to see it on the health bar since a single shot damage is very minuscule that it does not clearly get registered on the health bar. So you'd end up playing a 9 minute mission without knowing you have already failed to not let the Air Force One get damaged.

I recommend using the railgun since it can 1-shot initial enemies on the Casual difficulty. Try to destroy all the enemies using a single railgun clip and reload when the whole wave is destroyed. In later waves, enemies will take 2 shots to get destroyed. Missiles and psycho drone can be helpful if your railgun is reloading and if you are able to micromanage your equipment quickly, but railgun is definitely the best choice here.

Below is a video from my personal playthrough of this mission where I got this achievement. You can refer it to get an idea on how to play this mission.

Cavalry Not Needed
Defeated all enemies before reinforcements arrived during "Red Comet."

This can be done in Act 2 Mission 4 (RED COMET). You need to destroy all the enemies before the timer runs out and the reinforcements arrive. Even on the hardest difficulty this is not difficult if you correctly prioritise your targets.

For this Mission, you have access to the particle cannon, a very high damage weapon with a long reload time. Make sure to target only Frigates and Destroyers (large ships with high amount of health) and not small ships or Battle Frames with the cannon. You can 1 or 2-shot these large ships with it. Use the cannon on a large ship and while it's reloading, target small ships and Battle Frames with the railgun and missiles. Keep repeating the process until all the enemies are destroyed.

Steel Pigeons
Defeated all parachuters before they reached the ground during "Bridge to Space."

This can be done in Act 2 Mission 7 (BRIDGE TO SPACE). This can be easily achieved on Casual difficulty by using Andei. Use his particle cannon and only target Transporter Planes. The cannon will 1-shot the planes on Casual difficulty. The planes will come in 2 on first few waves and last wave will consist of 3 planes. Use the cannon on a plane and then switch to railgun and missiles until the cannon reloads, after that hit the remaining one. Do not bother with the other enemies and only attack the Transporter Planes. By using this method I managed to destroy all the planes before they even got close to the base and had a chance to drop parachuters.

If you let the planes get too close to the base, they will start dropping Parachuters. If that happens, use missiles and railgun to destroy them before they hit the ground. The achievement should unlock right after the last Parachuter or Transporter Plane (if you managed to destroy all before they got close to the base) is destroyed.

Archivist
Listened to all Audio Logs.

You need to listen to all the audio logs available for missions in Act 1 & 2. Despite there being Audio Logs in Act 3 & 4, you only need to listen to the ones in Act 1 & 2. Some missions have multiple audio logs attached to it, and some don't have any Audio Logs. You can see all of them at the mission start (if there are any for that mission).

You need to listen to every audio log before starting a mission. If you missed one, you can use the mission select to listen it it and it will count.

Guilt Trip
Find Andei's Mech in Comatose.

You need to find Andei's fallen Battle Frame in Act 3 Mission 3 (COMATOSE). After your character transition to the flooded street with buildings, go to the 2nd alley from your starting point. The one with the "No Entry" sign posted on a metal barricade.

The video below is taken from my playthrough and it contains the exact location.

Between the Dragon and his Wrath
Defeat Dragon's Eye before he finishes talking.

You can earn this during Act 3 Mission 7 (PAX AMERICANA Part 1). After the first stage, you will have to destroy 2 Destroyers. Use masamune and homing lasers and quickly dispose of them. After that, another wave will spawn with 2 Battle Frame Carriers in the back. You need to target the "USS Enterprise - Battle Frame Carrier" which is denoted with the white objective marker. At the start of this wave, Dragon's Eye and few other characters will start having a conversation through the radio. You need to destroy the USS Enterprise before this conversation ends. This shouldn't be a problem even on the hardest difficulty if you use your heavy hitting weapons. I managed to get this on my first try on the hardest difficulty.

Revelation
Defeat the wave before Testament in 1:16.

This can earned in Act 4 Mission 2. You need to destroy all the enemies before the boss in under 1 minute and 16 seconds. I suggest doing this using Yuliana on Casual difficulty. Just be very aggressive and use your particle cannon on enemies with higher health.

Combat Related Achievements

I Closed My Eyes
Used the Blade to deflect a missile.

You can easily do this at the very start of Mission 3 even on the hardest difficulty. When you start the Act 1 Mission 3, you only have the Blade active and there are 5 enemies with different weapons. Defeat all except the 1 with missiles (enemy weapon type will be shown inside square brackets next to its name) and wait until it fires a missile. Make sure that you aren't locked on to the enemy otherwise you'll dash towards the enemy. Simply hit the missile with your Blade swing and this should unlock. You might have to try a few times until you get the hang of it.

Remote Operator
Used Funnels for the first time.

You need to use the Psycho Drone once and this will unlock. You should get this naturally while playing the game.

Safety's Still On
Completed a mission without firing any missiles (when flying a missile-equipped Battle Frame).

You can do this in any mission that gives you a Battle Frame with missiles. The earliest you can do this is on Act 1 Mission 3. Just don't use missiles while playing that mission.

Lay It On Me
Completed a mission using only the Blade.

Simply complete a mission only using your Blade without using any other weapons. You need to be playing a mission with a Battle Frame that has a Blade. I got this on Act 1 Mission 3. You can switch to Casual difficulty and get this much easily.

Combat Rated
Defeated 100 enemy units.

Self-explanatory. You will get this naturally while playing the game.

Ace Pilot
Defeated 1000 enemy units.

Self-explanatory. You will almost certainly get this naturally while playing the game. If not, you can grind the survival mode to rack up more defeated enemy count.

Welcome to the Circus
Fired 1000 missiles.

Self-explanatory. Much like the above achievements, you will almost certainly get this naturally while playing through the game.

Difficulty Related Achievements

Prepared For Nothing
Completed all Act 1 Missions on Prepare to Die.

Self-explanatory. You need to complete all the 8 missions in Act 1 on the hardest difficulty. Some missions will be a bit difficult and you may have to retry them a few times, but I didn't find any overtly difficult missions in Act 1.

I Am Invincible
Completed all Act 2 Missions on Prepare to Die.

Self-explanatory. Much like the above achievement, you will need to complete all 9 missions on the hardest difficulty. Unlike Act 1 however, some missions can be long and difficult on the hardest difficulty.

Act 2 Mission 2 (THERMOPYLAE)
This mission can be a bit difficult since you need to not let the elevators' health fall to 30%, and you pilot a Battle Frame with only a basic gun and missiles. You will have to face off 4 waves of enemies. The first wave consists of some Battle Frames and Fighter Jets. You can 1-shot the Fighter Jets with you melee weapon. 2nd and 3rd waves will consist of Battle Frames with various weapons. I recommend focusing on the enemies that are attacking the elevators first (especially missile ones). The 4th wave consists of a large ship and Battle Frames. I focused on the large ship first while keeping the attention of the Battle Frames on me.

Act 2 Mission 8 (TENSHI NO SAIGO Part1)
In this mission, at the end, you need to fight off Andei. Keep using railgun, psycho drones and missiles on him (although he will drop flares for the missiles). When he drops to around 70% health, he will start using the particle cannon. This has a long charge time, but it will 1-shot you. The screen will warn you moments before it fires. You need to boost sideways to avoid it.

Act 2 Mission 9 (TENSHI NO SAIGO Part2)
In this mission, you will need to fight Mirai. This boss has 2 phases and can be incredibly difficult on the hardest difficulty. While the first phase goes normally, in the 2nd phase Mirai and you both start regenerating health during battle (even on the hardest difficulty). So you need to be aggressive and keep damaging her and not let her heal. On top of that she get extremely aggressive with constant attacks. Luckily, I found a good strategy to beat her. Below is my strategy for fighting her.

Phase 1
As soon as she appears on the map, stop moving and put up 1 shield. You have 3 shield charges and the shield has a long reload time so you need to utilise it properly. You need to position yourself inside the shield. While the 1st shield is up, use executor, psycho drone (while locking on to Mirai), and missiles. Always give priority to the executor since it is going to be your main damage dealer. Near the end of the 1st shield, put up the 2nd shield and repeat the same process until you run out of shields. Now, you need to keep firing the executor while dashing through the map until the shield reloads. After it reloads repeat the process until you get Mirai's health down to around 40%. After that, she will regenerate her health back to full and you will start Phase 2.

Phase 2: Part 1
During the 2nd phase, both you and Mirai will regenerate health over time (regardless of difficulty). She will be extra aggressive and start doing melee attacks so you won't be able to do the shield trick in phase 1. You need to stay away from her and always be moving and using executor, psycho drones, and missiles to slowly bring her health down. You need to be aggressive so that she won't be able to heal. She will use multiple weapons like blade, missiles, railgun, decoys, and psycho drone as well. The one that you need to look out for most is the psycho drone. If you're near her when she deploys this, it will eat through you health like butter. So as soon as you see a target marked with a red square that is firing at you, get away as fast as you can. Always keep using flares and evade to get away from the barrage of missiles she puts out as well. Keep damaging her until you bring her health down to around 45% where she stops melee attacks and fires massive barrages of missiles.

Phase 2: Part 2
Around 45% health Mirai will slow down with the melee attacks and start barraging you with even more missiles. This is where you can start using the strategy I've given in phase 1 with the shield again. Put 1 shield down, use all your heavy hitting weapons, near the end of the 1st shield, put down another one. Keep doing this until you it reloads. After the shield reloads, repeat the process. You can defeat Mirai relatively easily this way.

Below is a video from my personal playthrough where I defeated Mirai using the tactics written above.

Difficulty Related Achievements (Continued)

To Infinity...
Completed all Act 3 and Act 4 missions on Prepare to Die.

Act 3 Mission 5 (SEKAI NO ZANGE Part 2)
The later stage will require you to shoot down missiles coming towards the city. Prioritise the ones near the city first and use you homing laser on them. While it's reloading, switch to masamune (only if you're near the missiles). You might have to try a few times, but luckily there is a checkpoint right before this stage of the mission.

Act 3 Mission 6 (KIBOU NO HIKARI)
There's a boss fight with Anapanasti at the end of this stage. Always stay away from the boss cause its drone swarm will completely slow you down and you will get barraged with missiles from the boss. Staying away will give you a chance to detect and destroy the swarm easily. Always prioritise the drone swarm when it gets deployed and use your homing laser to destroy it. There are about 3-4 drones per swarm, if you're lucky your homing laser will take care of it all. Every time the drone swarm is destroyed, go aggressive on the boss with homing laser, masamune, missiles, and psycho drone. Rinse and repeat the process whenever it deploys the drone swarm.

Act 3 Mission 8 (PAX AMERICANA Part 2)
At the start of this mission, you will fight Yuliana again. She can be a difficult fight cause she can potentially 1-shot you or drain a lot of you health with her melee attack. You have a small window when she flashes green where you can dodge sideways using boost. You might have to try a few times to get the hang of it. During the 1st phase, keep dodging her melee and missiles attacks and use your heavy hitting weapons to bring her health down. When she goes down to around 40% of her health she enters phase 2 which is even more difficult. She now charges her particle cannon which has a much lower evade time and can 1-shot you, and she uses melee attacks much more frequently. Stay out of her range and evade properly. You might have to try a few times, cause there are no special tricks to this fight like in the one with Mirai in Act 2.

Act 4 Mission 1 (TOGETHER)
Refer the "Mind Over Metal" achievement below.

Act 4 Mission 2 (UNITED BY HOPE)
This is the final mission in the game. I recommend you use Yuliana for this since she has the particle cannon and shield. You need to fight a mini boss and few enemies before the final boss appears. The mini boss has that annoying charged melee attack so stay away from him and use particle cannon and let him target Mirai instead of you.

As for the final boss, be careful of its laser arc attack which can 1-shot you. Try to use your shield whenever you can. Use particle cannon and other heavy hitters, and when it opens its cooling units in the back, use the cannon and avenger to destroy one. Go back to the front and repeat the process until its destroyed. This isn't as difficult as the other bosses, but you only have around 5 minutes to destroy it. So you have to manage your time exceptionally well. It will come down to the wire.

Mind Over Metal
Defeat Norther on Prepare to Die.

You get a chance to fight Norther Csan in Act 4 Mission 1. And need to defeat him in the hardest difficulty to get this achievement. After you open the gate to the underground base he will be inside.

He can be difficult on the hardest difficulty since he has a large health pool and can dish out heavy damage. Also you initially fight him inside a very enclosed space so you don't have a lot of room to move. He has a wide arching laser attack that can pass through obstacles so hiding behind structures will not work. He also does the charged melee attacks that Yuliana does in Act 3 Mission 8 where you have to dodge timely.

I highly recommend luring him out into the open. It will be very difficult to do this inside the underground base. Simply fire at him and go outside and wait until he comes out. He might get stuck inside walls, but keep luring him out until he is fully outside. Luring him outside gives you some advantages since your allies (including Mirai/Yuliana) will start to attack him too. I recommend using Yuliana for this fight since she has a shield and the particle cannon. Out in the open, you can easily dodge his laser arc, but you need to beware of the melee attacks since they will almost always 1-shot you. Keep using shield and your heavy hitting weapons until he's destroyed. If you die during this fight, you will have to start from the beginning of the mission so be careful.

There is a way to cheese this fight if you lure him outside. Go near a floating city platform and hide under it. Activate your shield and go to top and fire the particle cannon. Then immediately go back under the city away from his line of sight. Keep repeating the process until he is defeated. If he follows you under the city, go to the top of the city. And if he follows you to the top, you need to go below. Play it like a game of peekaboo.

Miscellaneous Achievements

Not A Clunker
Used the M1 Guardian and survived 5 waves in Survival Mode.

Simply use M1 Guardian Battle Frame and survive until the 6th wave in survival mode. This is very easy even with this Battle Frame. You can quit the mission after that if you want.

Fully Rated
Piloted every Battle Frame available.

You need to pilot all the available Battle Frames. This can be only achieved using Survival Mode. Simply start a Survival Mode map using a Frame and immediately quit back to the main menu. Keep doing this with all the listed Frames from the top until you get this achievement.

Stayin' Alive
Stayed alive in Survival Mode for 7 Waves.

Refer the "I Held A Party" achievement below.

I Held A Party
Stayed alive in Survival Mode for 15 Waves.

You need to survive until the 16th wave in Survival Mode. Survival mode faces you off with various enemies and bosses that you've met throughout the campaign. However, this is pretty easy since you do not face any difficult enemies during these waves. I suggest taking ZX-08 Budusheye (Yuliana's Frame) or GCTXX Akarui Mirai (Mirai's Frame) since they have the best weapon variety with high damage weapons (especially Yuliana with the particle cannon).

Above and Beyond
Completed all other achievements.

Self-explanatory. You will earn this after getting all the other achievements. If you've made it this far, congratulations! You have done fine work.

Well, the Achievement for Norther didn't pop for me but I did get To Infinity... so there's that.

Hey, pilots, I'm gonna leave you all this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb64mAOwLC8 so here's to those who endeavor and success in beating this game on Prepare to Die and for those who attempt and keep on attempting.
Kabob004 Apr 24, 2024 @ 10:21am
I think a good part of the difficulty with getting the achievement comes not just from the very vague and not really helpful Health Bar but also from sheer RNG for everything from the direction AFO is going, when it changes course, the enemy AI's targeting priorities, and where the wave with the Battle Frames spawns (One run I swear they spawned basically RIGHT ON TOP of Air Force One), this one achievement takes a LOT of Luck to get in addition to skill.
FelixDracul  [author] Apr 24, 2024 @ 10:06am
Congratulations! That's great to hear.
Kabob004 Apr 24, 2024 @ 7:51am
Funnily enough the very run after I posted that I DID manage to do it without Air Force One taking any damage.

Also may have managed to do it again on Prepare to Die...
FelixDracul  [author] Apr 23, 2024 @ 10:08pm
Yeah, it's difficult to see if the Air Force One got actually damaged or not because it has a large health pool. You'd just have to keep trying till you get the achievement.
Kabob004 Apr 23, 2024 @ 4:14pm
Gonna be honest... Air Force One needs actual NUMBERS instead of a vague health bar...
FelixDracul  [author] Jan 1, 2024 @ 8:04am
Hey, I only added guides for the hardest difficulty only for missions that can get very difficult or have special events like boss fights. I didn't add them for all of them since the rest of the missions are pretty straightforward and easy, so adding guides for them would have made this guide unnecessarily longer.

How about full achivement difficulty?
:steamhappy:
