Introduction

This is a complete guide to getting all achievements in the game. It assumes that you have at least a base understanding of the game since most achievements can't be acquired until you have almost reached the end of the story.

Additionally, the contents of this guide are only intended to cover the Enhanced Edition and may not apply to the Legacy Edition.

If there are any errors with my information, or you have new strategies or tips of your own to add, then leave a comment and I will eventually look into it.

World Map

The following map provides names for each major location that you will visit in the game.

These names are referenced throughout this guide.

General Tips
  • Read the Manual item! It has some good tips and explains some basic game mechanics such as the three types of damage (red for physical, blue for magical, and green for hybrid).

  • Get Sharla's Nightbreaker before leaving Halonia as it is one of the best swords in the entire game (tied with Ascended Sylvanaras and second to Chaos), especially if you give Ruth all of the stat-boosting consumables (other than Vitacherries because the sword doesn't boost HP). In order to get it, go to the Kickstarter building in the center of Halonia and interact with the statue that has a cat on its head in the second row on the right side, the statue with an afro and sunglasses in the bottom row on the right side, and the piano five times (in this order). After doing so, a secret staircase will open up on the raised floor with the developer statues.

  • Don't be afraid to use your consumables, particularly Antidotes and Eyedrops! There are only two spells in the game that can cure status effects and one takes up a trinket slot (Restoration) while the other is acquired near the end-game and is single-use (Soothing Mist). Additionally, neither is usable outside of combat.

  • Pay attention to each enemy's class and abuse their class weaknesses in addition to the more obvious elemental weaknesses.

  • Switch around equipment as necessary for each dungeon. Accessories which prevent status effects and resist specific elements are extremely helpful in certain areas, particularly against the "Spirit" family of enemies.

  • Equip Steady Charms on Ruth and Gwen while their Luck stat is still low and you have nothing better to craft.

  • Try to farm two or three Strength Braces from the Gronn α in the Lien Mountains as they are far better than any other accessory at that point in the game.

  • Craft a Safety Charm as soon as possible and keep it equipped on Ruth who should have the highest Aggro rating of everyone. Being able to prevent a surprise attack while reducing damage by 10% for her can save you from a sudden game over!

  • Try to farm four Fool's Fortunes from the Cleric α in the Abyssal Cavern as it will make you level up slightly faster but, more importantly, give you much more Gold.

  • Use Lucky Potions any time you enter a new area where the enemies are a higher level than you or you are simply grinding.

  • Don't skip any optional dungeons as the equipment they provide can be very powerful. Equipment, trinkets, and charms are far more important than levels.

  • Hunt down the Alpha Beast when you enter a new area as it will give you an extra level or two and a unique item.

  • Use Glimmering Potions against bosses with elemental weaknesses.

  • To make grinding faster in the end-game, equip everyone with Devil Charms and use area-of-effect skills to quickly clear battles.

  • Try to save your Gold for the shop in the Midnight Desert so you can buy Miracle Nuts. Sell Rubies and any spare (non-unique) equipment that you don't need in order to make more Gold. Use any spare essences to make more Rubies.

Equipment Strategies
  • Equip weapons, off-hand gear, and trinkets that can take advantage of the predominant elemental weakness in the area or a boss' elemental weakness.

  • The Ring of Thunder, Ring of Ice, and Ring of Fire (which are rarely dropped by the Sprite, Soul, and Wisp enemies outside of Westvale, in the Winterfall Cavern, and in the Sealed Tower, respectively) can be extremely useful in certain areas or against certain bosses so it might be worth grinding for a few of them (after using a Lucky Potion).

  • Sharla's Nightbreaker and Magirock make it as good, if not better than, Ascended Sylvanaras. Even if you are facing enemies who resist or absorb fire, the fire damage can still be converted to holy by using Sealing Strike and Ivory Slash. The only sword that is a clear upgrade is Chaos whose extra Strength and Luck is well worth the loss in the other stats.

  • For the optional bosses (especially Strife), one of the more effective strategies is to equip Ruth, Stray, and Uno with a Devil Charm and Gwen with an Ankh Charm. Have Gwen cast Bloodlust on everyone else during the first three turns (or sooner if you have someone else use a Free Action Potion on her) and then have her focus on healing. Meanwhile, you should be using everyone else's strongest attacks while they have both the Final Pact and Bloodlust buffs on them for massive damage. The Guts status effect from Bloodlust will mitigate the instant death effect from the Final Pact status effect by reducing them to 1 HP instead.

Skill Strategies

R U T H
  • Recommended trinkets: during the early-game, Battle Shout and Restoration. During the mid-game, Restoration and Intimidate. During the late-game, Restoration and Victory Shout.

  • Battle Shout, Vanguard, or Intimidate should always be used at the beginning of combat. Battle Shout should eventually be replaced by Victory Shield while Vanguard should be used when Divine Shout has worn off (assuming that you will primarily take physical damage during the encounter).

  • Sealing Strike should be used against enemies that primarily deal physical damage.

  • Ivory Slash is her strongest offensive option but costs a lot of MP.

  • Goading Strike is almost as good as Ivory Slash because it never misses and effectively allows her to ignore the Blind status effect, still deals high damage, increases her Aggro rating, and removes the Fog status effect from the target.

  • Restoration is one of Ruth's best trinkets because it is one of only two ways to remove status effects without the use of items (the other being Gwen's Soothing Mist which is single-use and only available in the end-game). She is actually a fantastic support tank due to Restoration and Blessing.

G W E N
  • Recommended trinkets: during the early-game and mid-game, Bloodlust and either Carpet Bomb, Icicle Barrage, or Gigavolt depending on which area you're in. During the late-game, Bloodlust and Prismatic Focus.

  • Power Boost is a great buff which should always be used on everyone else if a battle is expected to take more than three to four turns. It should eventually be replaced by Bloodlust.

  • Tincture restores 33% MP which will often relegate her to being an MP battery for the rest of the party until she needs to heal everyone at once with Party Brew. Tincture also removes the Bleed status effect which is a good thing to remember.

  • Siphon is a decent option which allows Gwen to heal herself while dealing damage (assuming that she doesn't need the MP from Tincture) but the trinkets that grant the area-of-effect elemental spells are typically far better.

  • Gwen is one of only two characters who can reliably abuse elemental weaknesses so switch her staff depending on where you are and which enemies you encounter (at least until you get the Wand of Fate and Prismatic Focus).

S T R A Y
  • Recommended trinkets: Explosive Shot and Lullaby. Lullaby should be replaced by Hymn for boss battles.

  • Hide or Explosive Shot should always be used at the beginning of combat. Hyperfocus can also be used but it has such a high MP cost that it isn't a sustainable option in the long term.

  • Hymn should always be used at the beginning of a boss battle.

  • Lullaby is one of the best debuffs in the game by far and should be used during every regular encounter because it can completely trivialize the encounter if it affects at least half of the enemy party.

  • Arrow Rain with Tar Charm or Blood Charm is a surprisingly effective way to debuff the entire enemy party especially if they are weak to Fire.

  • Blinding Shot should be used against bosses that primarily use physical attacks or counter-attack.

  • Flashbang is situationally good against groups of skeletons or human cultists who have a propensity to counter-attack but Lullaby is often just better.

  • Rapid Fire is his strongest offensive option followed by Headshot.

  • Vampire Sting is surprisingly good and allows Stray to heal himself while dealing damage which frees up Ruth and Gwen to do other things.

  • Stray is one of only two characters who can reliably abuse elemental weaknesses so switch his arrows depending on where you are and which enemies you encounter.

U N O
  • Meditate, Expose Weakness, or Wave Fist should always be used at the beginning of combat.

  • Shiv and Haze are amazing for inflicting standard Poison and his trinket's specialized poison against a single target and the entire enemy party, respectively, but Shiv is eventually overshadowed by the sheer damage of Shadow Step which has multiple chances to inflict the specialized poison.

  • Shadow Step and Spirit Punch are his strongest offensive options but Shadow Step has a tendency to miss which makes the Bullseye Charm quite good on him. That being said, you have to choose if you want to prioritize having a chance to inflict his trinket's specialized poison with Shadow Step or deal more damage with Spirit Punch.

  • Prior to getting Gwen, you can equip Uno with a glove weapon and have him use Chakra on himself to slowly restore his own MP indefinitely and restore others' MP if he has enough surplus.

Optional Bosses

Conception

Description: Complete the Malady's Gambit sidequest (Enhanced Edition Only).

After completing the Sealed Tower, this sidequest will become unlocked (along with the Sindra's Treasure Hunt sidequest). Follow these steps to complete it:
  • Visit Malady in the Witch House to initiate the sidequest;
  • Visit Gwen's house in the Underbog and interact with the playing card on her table;
  • Visit Al Keyhaul's house on Eastport Isle and talk to the person there which will initiate a boss battle (see below for more information); and
  • Return to Malady for a cutscene and the reward.

Hoss

Stats:
- HP: 4,267
- Weaknesses: Fire and Ice
- Resistances (Absorb): Poison and Bleed
- Skills: Fog, Burp, Expose Weakness, Double Strike, Rip

Info:
- Hoss automatically uses Fog at the start of the battle.
- Hoss absorbs Poison and Bleed damage and will instead be healed from them.
- Burp has a chance to inflict standard, Crippling, Corrosive, Blinding, Knockout, Null, or Virulent poison.
- When he is reduced to below 35% HP, he uses a Corrupting Potion, Residual Potion, and Free Action Potion on himself during the next turn.

Recommended Level: 25+

He's back?

Description: Slay Typhus the Dead (Enhanced Edition Only).

Location:
- At the end of the Abyssal Cavern which is a continuation of the Lair of Typhus the Younger and is accessible after you get the ship.

Stats:
- HP: 2,196
- Weaknesses: Fire and Holy
- Resistances: Ice, Thunder, and Dark
- Skills: Gigavolt, Arc Thunder, Discord, Quadra Attacks

Info:
- Quadra Attacks is a physical attack that hits four times.
- Typhus the Dead will always cast one of Fog, Empower, or Blade Barrier on the fifth turn.

Recommended Level: 20+

Strife

Description: Defeat Strife.

Location:
- Inside an underground cave that is outside of the Halonia wall and to the east of the drawbridge; however, the path is blocked by a guard until you have completed the Sealed Tower and can return to Halonia.

Stats:
- HP: 4,373
- Weaknesses: Holy
- Resistances: Dark
- Skills: Despair, V-Slash, Decimate, Cleave

Info:
- Strife automatically uses Despair at the start of the battle which prevents afflicted characters from being healed unless they regenerate the HP over time or with lifesteal (Siphon or Vampire Sting). Stray can also use Hide to regain HP through the status effect.
- Cleave inflicts Despair so waiting out the status effect and attemping to heal isn't a viable strategy unless you can avoid his attacks altogether by increasing your Evasion and decreasing his Accuracy.

Recommended Level: 28+

Ogopogo

Description: Defeat Ogopogo.

Location:
- At the end of the Winterfall Cavern which is accessible after you get the ship.

Stats:
- HP: 1,378 for each elemental form (Ice, Thunder, and Fire, in this order) and 2,505 for its final form
- Weaknesses: Fire, Ice, Thunder, and None, respectively
- Resistances (Absorb): Ice, Thunder, Fire, and None, respectively
- Skills: Blizzard, Icicle Barrage, Absolute Zero, Drowsy; Arc Thunder, Gigavolt, Muddle; Carpet Bomb, Poison; Flood, Curse

Info:
- Equip Ruth with the Dragonscale Plate armor.
- Ogopogo automatically uses Blizzard at the start of the battle.
- Ogopogo removes all debuffs on itself when it changes forms.
- Each form can inflict a different status effect.
- Use Divine Shield, Hymn, and heal everyone up to full before defeating its Fire form as it will use Flood during the next turn which is its strongest skill.
- Ogopogo's final form can use any skills from its previous forms.
- Curse inflicts a debuff that lowers all stats except Luck.

Recommended Level: 30+

What in heavens is going on?

Description: Defeat the alternate final boss (Enhanced Edition Only).

This requires you to first defeat Lilith in the optional half of Purgatory (accessible via The Depths) before facing Typhus in Purgatory who will take the form of Typhus & Lilith instead of Typhus the World-Breaker.

Lilith

Stats:
- HP: 5,552
- Weaknesses: None
- Resistances: None
- Skills: Smite, Redoubt, Censure, Gravity, Gravity Well, Sealing Strike, Goading Strike, Pollen, Nauseous Pollen, Battle Shout, Dispel, Catastrophe

Info:
- Lilith automatically uses Dispel at the start of the battle.
- Lilith takes two actions per turn when she is alone.
- Smite is a Holy elemental skill that hits twice.
- Gravity is a Dark elemental single-target skill that hits once.
- Redoubt deals damage and lowers Defense.
- Lilith has three phases and starts the battle in Phase 1, will enter Phase 2 when she is reduced to below 66% HP, and will enter Phase 3 when she is reduced to below 25% HP.
- Phase 1: every second turn, she uses one of the Strazsa's unique skills (Take Flight, Stone Skin, or Prismatic Scales) and applies a buff to herself that absorbs a specific element which lasts until the end of the next turn. She will also only take one action during this turn instead of two like she normally does. For reference, Take Flight increases her Agility and Evasion but makes her weak to Thunder, Stone Skin substantially increases her Armor but makes her weak to Ice, and Prismatic Scales increases her Wisdom and may cause her to reflect magical or hybrid attacks back at you.
- Phase 2: she summons a Phoenix, Shinobi, Albino Kobold, Heretic, Returned, and Toxatrice and then uses Divine Shield during her next turn. She takes one action per turn and tends to use Battle Shout, Pollen, and Gravity Well during this phase.
- Phase 3: she uses Catastrophe in place of one of her actions during her next turn.

Recommended Level: 30+

Typhus & Lilith

Stats:
- HP: 8,350
- Weaknesses: None
- Resistances: None
- Skills: Umbral Burst, True Redoubt, Hellfire, Spellbreaker, Arc Thunder, Flame Pillar, Plague, Catastrophe

Info:
- Umbral Burst is a weaker Dark elemental skill that hits nine times.
- Hellfire is a Dark elemental area-of-effect skill.
- Typhus & Lilith will always use Catastrophe on the fifth turn and every seventh turn thereafter (turn 12, 19, etc).

Conclusion
I decided to make this guide because the current resources for the game are mostly centered around the Legacy Edition and no other guide really covers the bosses in detail or the achievements.

Hopefully this guide has helped you get the achievements and if it did then feel free to rate the guide, favorite it, or even give it an award!

Thanks for reading!
