How to play Repentance on MacOS

Describing my journey of getting it done

First of all, my setup

Downloading CrossOver

If you are familiar with Wine, CrossOver is basically it, but more simple. You can even download Steam right in it. It provides free 14-day trial and costs 64$ after, in case you didn't manage to complete the game.

Launch problem

When I tried running CrossOver for the first time, it showed me an error "Failed to run Python script .../libcxsetupbase.py". So, if you are having this as well, here is what you need to do:

1. Right click Crossover.app
   
2. Show package contents -> Contents -> Resources
   
3. Open the file libcxsetupbase.py
   
4. Change the line 6 from
   

   from Foundation import *

   to
   

   from Foundation import NSObject

This shall do the trick!

Installing Steam

Glad you made it this far, we are almost through! Less words, more video guides. Although, if you are willing to play Isaac only, you may want to close it after 4 minutes:

Another problem

This time, when I've finished the Steam install and tried to launch it, there was nothing. Like, literally, the Steam window was null, black and showing no signs of life. So, a little bit more of video guides! This one is short, promise:

Although, this solution didn't help me, the window was still black. But the guy in the comments did!

Here is another fix for CrossVver V2201 (MacBook Air M1, bottle win10 64bit). At the main screen under control panels go to:

1. Wine configuration
   
2. Select steam.exe
   
3. Set Windows version from global to Windows 7
   
4. Run Steam, login
   
5. Go to Steam settings -> Interface
   
6. Uncheck all boxes
   
7. Exit Steam and change the Wine config back to global

After all that was done, the Steam login window finally appeared as I was blessed with YouTube comment knowledge.

Install Isaac and enjoy!
