Section 1: Prelude and Setup
This Guide is using the GOTY/Both Expansions version of the game and the actual game not OpenMW

Morrowind released in 2002 and because of that certain quality of life features that future titles got are not there, and, in today's standards, texture and model quality is pretty low (as well as render distance.) However there are multiple mods that can make Morrowind look and play better.

For this guide you will need a Nexus account. Usage of a Mod Manager is highly recommended, especially if you are going to be downloading a lot of mods. For Morrowind, the best Mod Managers are either Wyre Mash or Mod Organizer 2 (MO2.)

Wyre Mash Download Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45439
Pros: Best for mods that have multiple options in the files, compared to MO2 it's less likely to run into issues with mods
♥♥♥♥: Harder to use
MO2 Download Link : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194
Pros: Is best for texture mods, easy to use, can customize mod load order easily (useful for Texture Mods) doesn't change the "actual game files" (so launching the game outside of the mod manager will give you the vanilla version)
♥♥♥♥: May run into issues with mods not working with it

Section 2: MGE EX Plus MCP
The reason this mod gets its own section is because I 100% recommend it no matter how many changes you want to make, as it let's you play in higher resolution + widescreen, improve the render distance, and more. " Also when downloading MGE you will need to download Morrowind Code Patch first, which fixes multiple bugs and glitches as well as other improvements (the default settings in MCP are vanilla friendly.) Follow the install directions from their Nexus pages. MGE also includes Morrowind Script Extender.

Section 3: Quality of Life and other Misc Mods
This section is focused on Mods I highly recommend you download as they are nice QOL improvements that don't completely change the original balance, with a few other additions.

Section 4: Choose your Level of Remaster
In this Section all mods will be in 2 different lists separated by how much of a graphical overhaul you want, Vanilla Plus and Major Overhaul. There will be overlap between the different groups so you will need to only look at one of them. If there is a mod you think should be in one of the groups but isn't, post it in the comments and I may add it where it belongs. Also I don't 100% know how Steam will react to Body mods (as almost all of them have NSFW versions) so I won't be linking them.

Vanilla Plus
This Group's focus is being close to Vanilla but adding in minor graphical improvements.

MGE EX Settings: Resolution doesn't matter so choose what ever setting you like unless you want to keep the original 4:3 then choose 1024 x 768, Shaders Disabled, Distant Land set off to get the Vanilla Render Distance, but 4 is a good balance between keeping the original vibe and intent of the low Render Distance and quality of life improvement of being able to see farther (using Distance Land changes the Water but there is a mod that makes it look like the original which is in the list)

Major Overhaul
This Group's focus is making the game look way better, but still look like Morrowind.

MGE EX Settings: Resolution whatever you want to use, Enable Shaders, feel free to enable or disable them based off personal preference or performance reasons, Distant Land enabled and set to 5 to 10 (Morrowind isn't optimized for high render distances so super high render distances make the game lag even on modern high spec machines.) Also enable the Water Reflections and Dynamic solar shadows and Per-pixel lighting shader.

Section 5: Epilogue and Other Guides
Hopefully you are happy with the mods I chose, if not you can leave a comment. If you are happy with the mods you can now (re)play Morrowind with multiple quality of life and graphical improvements. Make sure to watch your Fatigue, Outlander.
