Tips
  • Disable the limited save feature to not bother with grabbing ink along the way.
  • No achievements are locked behind difficulty.
  • There are a total of 4 endings: A, B, C, and S. Take note of any call outs regarding endings, as you must do certain actions or you risk being locked out of an ending.
  • You need to find all 6 Teeth and all 10 Strange Coins to unlock the S ending.
  • Enemies play dead sometimes. Make sure you keep hitting them until you see blood under them or they disappear.
Walkthrough Pt. 1
COURTYARD
You start off in the courtyard.
Pick up the Coin above the fountain.
Throw the Coin into the fountain (Note: You need to do this to get a strange coin later on, and you need all of the strange coins to get the S ending).
Talk to the man reading a book by the top-right of the fountain.
Move to left side of the courtyard and interact with the rose bushes to get a Rose.
Alissa will appear, interact with her below the fountain and give the Rose to her.

VICTOR'S HOUSE

Read the note on the desk below the red couch:
Dear Mr. Hartwell,
I'm afraid I have ill tidings.
As you requested, I have contacted some of the greatest medical minds with the intention of finding a potential cure for your wife's afflication.
Unfortunately, I must inform you that despite my best efforts, no effective treatment has been found. Your wife is not long for this world, treasure the time you have.
However, you should continue administering the medicine I prescribed for her daily and increase the dosage if her pain persists or increases.
Much to my regret, it is my duty to prepare you for the inevitable outcome.
Dr. R. Abrahamson.

Read the note on the dresser on the right side of the room:
Dear Victor,
I cried when I received your letter.
Alissa is like a sister to me. My heart is broken.
I still remember those happy days we spent together when we were girls. She was always the most daring and we got into such trouble because of her.
I never imagined that Alissa could fall to such an illness. She was always so strong.
Do not lose hope, Victor. Alissa is a fighter, and I pray every night that she overcomes the disease.
You must never give up. She needs you now more than ever.
With all my love,
Leonore Ferrer.

Exit the room and head right down the hallway.
Take the first door to the north to enter Alissa's room.
Talk to Alissa.
Take Alissa's Medicine from the vanity.
Exit Alissa's room and head to the right door to enter the kitchen.
Take the Firewood.
Use the Firewood on the stove to the right.
Take the Cup of Hot Water.
Combine Alissa's Medicine and Cup of Hot Water to get Cup of Hot Water with a Few Drops of Alissa's Medicine.
Return to Alissa's room and give Alissa the Cup of Hot Water with a Few Drops of Alissa's Medicine.

After the cutscene, you will find yourself in front of Grau Hill, unlocking:
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Grau Hill

Exit Lord Steinrot's office.
Alissa will be waiitng in the hallway; talk to her.
Exit Grau Hill through the front door.
Interact with the carriage and take the Wedding Ring.
Enter Grau Hill once more.
Walk to the far north of the room, past the statue, and go up the stairs through the right door.
Walk north up the hallway and enter the first door you see (unchained, furthest door on the right).
Follow the hallway down to the right.
Talk to Alissa.
Once Alissa walks off, follow her.
Follow the candles and blood trail until you find your body on a bed. Interact with it.

From this point onward, you will be able to collect Coins and Teeth. There are a total of 10 Coins and 6 Teeth to collect.

Interact with the nightstand next to the bed and pick up the Laudenum.
Use the Laudenum to heal.
Read the note on the table in front of the window:
We've believed his lies all this time. How foolish we were.
Is there any hope for us? Maybe...
Maybe there's something in the Count's office that can get us out of here.
I have bandaged your wounds as best as I can, and I left something on the table to ease the pain.
I'll close the doors to keep you safe. Please don't leave this room.
Take the Ink from the desk to the right of the piano.
Exit the room and take the first door on your left to enter the bathroom.
Interact with the bathtub and take the Lock Pick.
Exit the bathroom and enter the next door on the left.
Use the Lock Pick on the locked drawer to get Half a Bottle of Laudenum.
Move to the left side of the room and pick up the Key from the wooden chair.
Interact with the crack in the wall--you will hear a girl crying.
Exit the room and head right and up to the chained door.
Unlock the door using the Key.

Upon entering the room, you will encounter your first monster, unlocking:
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎The creature
The nightmare begins. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Interact with the bench to pick up the Porcelain Doll. Quickly exit the room as the monster takes notice.
Return back to the room with the crying girl and crack in the wall.
Interact with the crack in the wall with the Porcelain Doll equipped. The girl will stop crying.
Exit the room. The bottom-left door will now be unlocked.
Walk to the left and pick up the Map on the table next to the hole in the floor.
Head right and down the hallway, pushing the box out of the way.
Pick up the Jewellery Box from the bench.
Go up the stairs on the left.
Interact with the table next to the crate with a candle to pick up a Lock Pick.
Head to the far-left door to enter an art room.
Pick up the Broken Blazon on the table.
Exit the room and head back downstairs the way you originally came.
Walk down and head down the next flight of stairs.
In the mansion main lobby, head to the top-right hallway and enter the double doors.
Walk right and enter the door to the right of the blonde woman's portrait. This is the hunting room.
Pick up the Tongs on the crate in the bottom-left corner.
Read the note on the bottom-left desk:
I'm afraid I'll forget everything.
Time passes differently in this place, and slowly my memory is blurring and fading.
It's strange. There is something inside me that gives me the strength to continue.
I will continue writing; perhaps it will help keep my sanity.
Exit the room. Head left and back through the door that leads to the main lobby.
Head left, directly across the hall, following the blood trail underneath the hanging monster and into the left set of double doors.
Talk to the injured man.
Pick up the Lamp next to him.
Head into the room to the left of the injured man to enter the dining room.
Use the Lock Pick on the left locked drawer to get Ammunition.
Equip the Tongs and use them on the fireplace to obtain the Heavy Key.
Exit the dining room.
Go left and take the southern door to enter the game room.
You can save here and store any excess items you may have; I put away the Ammunition, Jewellery Box, Tongs, and Broken Blazon for now.
Walkthrough Pt. 2
Exit the game room and head all the way right and through the bottom door to return to the mansion main lobby.
Head right, down past The White Lady statue, and to the left near Lord Steinrot's office.
Look behind the statue to the left of Lord Steinrot's office door to find Strange Coin (1/10).
Head back to the center statue. There is Half a Bottle of Laudenum to pick up at the base of the statue. This can be combined with another half bottle to make Laudenum.
Walk up from the center statue and use the Heavy Key on the chained metal grated door on the right.
Move to the left side of the main lobby and use the Heavy Key on the chained metal grated door on the left. Go through this door.
Head through the door to the right of the corpse to enter the kitchen.
Pick up the Knife on the right-most counter.

The Knife is the first weapon you'll find in the game. You can use it to kill monsters as needed.

Equip the Lamp and head through the next door.
Avoid the enemies as you navigate this area, they will prick up with needles and hurt you if you get too close.
Walk right and pick up the Salt from the counter.
Continue downwards and pick up the Ornament from the wooden table. The enemies will start moving at this point.
Quickly make your way back and exit the room.
Equip the Knife and exit the kitchen.
Use the knife to kill the monster eating a body to the right. It takes 4 hits to die.
Once the enemy is dead, head right into the door to enter the chemical laboratory.
Read the note on the bottom-right desk:
First volume of the German alchemist Andreas Libau
Aqua regia:
Highly corrosive and fuming solution, yellow in color, obtained as follows:
Mix common salt with oil of vitriol, heat and shake. Add strong water to the mixture and filter.
Read the note on the bookshelf:
Aqua regia is a highly corrosive solution, formed by the mixture of salts and acids in correct proportions.
It must be handled with extreme care. If it comes into contact with the skin, it will cause burns.
Such is its strength that can even dissolve noble metals like gold.
All compounds are in the basement warehouse.
Equip your Lamp once more and head through the next door.
Head right until you encounter a new type of enemy: this one will get up off the ground and chase you, so take your Knife out and kill it. Watch out as it will flick out its tongues to damage you once it gets close enough.
Once it's dead, continue right and head north. Pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum on the window sill.
Continue right as far as you can go, then head south and turn right once you see a dead body.
Pick up the Ornament from the corpse.
Head left and kill the monster in the way.
Continue going left. There is a small alcove to the north; interact with the window sill next to the crate to pick up a Lock Pick.
Continue all the way left until you're back at the door; exit the room.
Back in the chemical laboratory, take some time to save and put away some items: I stored the Salt, Ornament, Strange Coin, and Heavy Key.
Exit the room through the southern door.
Head all the way left as far as you can go, then head south, pushing the crate out of the way.
Interact with the first door on the left. The stranger will ask that you bring them Rope. If you've already found the rope at this point, do not give it to them!
Continue down the hall to the right. Pick up the Broken Blazon on the window sill.
Continue right and enter the southern door by the crate with a candle on it.
Pick up the Heart Key from the bed.
Read the note on the desk, it will contain a cipher:

You can enter the southern door if you please to pick up Half a Bottle of Laudenum, however there is a monster in there that will need to be killed.
Exit the room and head right as far as you can go, then turn north and enter the door to the bathroom.
Pick up the Tooth (1/6) from the sink.
Exit the bathroom and head left. There is Half a Bottle of Laudenum to pick up on top of a crate.
Take the door below this crate to go back to the mansion main lobby.
From the mansion main lobby, head up the center stairway and through the left door.
Use the Knife to cut the rope.
Head back to the main lobby and kill the monster you just freed.
Pick up the Rope from where the monster fell.
Continue all the way left and enter the double doors.
Head into the room to the left of the injured man to enter the dining room.
Use the Lock Pick on the right locked drawer to get Laudenum.
Exit the dining room.
A monster will spawn as you exit the dining room; kill it.
Go left and take the southern door to enter the game room.
Use this opportunity to save and store any items you don't currently need. I stored the Rope, Tooth, and extra Laudenum.
If you don't have the Jewellery Box on hand, grab it from the stash.
Use the Heart Key to unlock the Jewellery Box. You will receive an Ornament.
Take both Broken Blazon pieces and combine them to make a Coat of Arms.
Exit the game room and head through the door directly across.
Pick up the Ammunition from the bench.
Interact with the gun case to place the Coat of Arms and unlock it. Pick up the Pistol.

The Pistol is the second weapon you'll find. You will find plenty of ammunition throughout the game, so feel free to use it. If you don't feel like carrying it around the whole time, I recommend just using it to defeat bosses.

Exit the room and enter the door directly below to go back to the game room.
Grab all the Ornaments from your stash.
Pick up the Ornament on the table in front of the fireplace. You should have 4 Ornaments in total.
Interact with the painting to the left of the fireplace. You will unlock:
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎A forgotten language
Can you decipher a language lost in time?‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Now you must solve a simple puzzle.
Hint: Refer back to the cipher found earlier
Answer:

Once you solve the puzzle, the fire in the fireplace will go out. Make sure you have the Tongs in your inventory before you descend down the fireplace.
Walk right until you reach a jail cell door. Enter it.
Head left and pick up the Ammunition on the crate with the candle.
Use the Knife to cut the spiderwebs.
Head up the hall, then turn right.
To the far right, read the note on the desk:
Luke. 3 years. Blonde hair, brown eyes.
He's giving me a lot of trouble. Needs ongoing care, he's useless.
Aaron. 4 years. Brown hair, green eyes.
He's afraid of the dark and doesn't stop screaming.
Rachel. 4 years. Blond hair, blue eyes.
Very weakened by lack of adequate nutrition, she still refuses to eat.
Mary. 3 years. Brown hair, green eyes.
Interact with the mechanism on the wall and move it.
Head back to the left. An old man will come out of the hole and talk to you.
(Note: You need to select "I have not seen her" in order to get the A ending. Selecting "I have seen her" will void your opportunity to get that ending).
Walkthrough Pt. 3
For talking to the old man, you'll unlock:
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎Lord Wesley
‎ ‎‎ The strange old man.
Head back down the hall, turn right, and exit the room.
Head south all the way and turn right. You'll encounter a new type of monster that looks like a crying baby. Kill it and head into the door right above to enter a children's cell.
Use the Tongs in the top-left corner of the room to obtain the Spiral Key.
Pick up the Broken Doll in the top-right corner on the bed.
Exit the room.
Walk right until the intersection, then north, and kill the two baby monsters.
Continue right and enter the door to find another children's cell.
Inside, there will be another monster baby; kill it.
On the right side of the room, between the bed and the rocking horse, interact with the wall to find Strange Coin (2/10).
Exit the room and head right.
Continue following the path along, north, left, south, then left again.
Keep going left until you find the ladder that leads back to the game room. Climb up.
Feel free to save and dump the Tongs and Strange Coin in the stash, then exit the game room.
Head right and you'll encounter Mary.
After the dialogue, continue right and head through the door back to the mansion main lobby.
A monster will charge at you; kill it. There are two other monsters wandering the main lobby now if you wish to kill them as well.
From the main lobby, head up the center stairway and through the left door.
Use the Spiral Key to unlock the spiral door directly in front of you.
Read the note on the desk on the right:
Today I have reached Grau Hill. Edmond has told me that I am the last to arrive and has briefly introduced me to the other members.
Victor has particularly caught my attention.
I notice the sadness in his eyes. I have not wanted to ask him why he is here with us.
After all, I doubt that anyone wants to talk about it.
Edmond says that the pact that we are going to seal goes beyond the written rules that govern the universe. When he talks like that, he reminds me of a miracle medicine salesman. I would not believe him if I had not seen with my own eyes what he is capable of.
Anyway, I would follow the devil himself if he gave me the slightest hope that I could get out of this damn wheelchair. I hope the next time we meet we can take a walk together.
Hope is the last thing you lose, or s is often said in these cases.
Yours.
Wesley. S.
Pick up the Ammunition from the chair.
Exit the room.
Head down the stairs back into the mansion main lobby.
Go left and through the first door (open grate).
Head left and kill the monster in the way.
Head south down the hall, and turn right.
Use the Spiral Key on the spiral door.
Head down the stairs.
Walk left and pick up the Fire Poker.

The Fire Poker is the third weapon you'll find. It's attack speed is slower than the knife but it does more damage.

Continue left and head up the ladder.
Pick up the Crank on top of the crate.
Head back down the ladder and walk right. You will notice that the room has changed.
Continue heading right and pick up the Ammunition on top of the crate.
Continue right until you're forced to turn north. As you head north, interact with the barrel against the wall to obtain a Tooth (2/6).
Continue right, killing or dodging the monsters along the way.
As you approach the room with the piano, pick up Laudenum on top of the bottom wooden planks.
Approaching the man near the piano will unlock:
‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ One step down
Descend through the spirals of madness
Read the note:
Edmond is looking for new members for the pact who are willing to do anything, just like us.
Some reach Grau Hill and leave shortly after, others stay.
Edmond has shown great strength of will. He has done things that the old me would have loathed, but now I consider necessary.
Will the reward come after the pain? Isn't that what Father Graham repeats over and over again?
Sometimes I find it difficult to go through with all of this ... I wonder if it is the right thing to do. Alissa... I'm sure you wouldn't approve of what I'm doing, but it's my last hope of seeing you.
Head all the way back left through the hallways until you run into an apparition.
Turn right and head up the right ladder.
Exit the room.
Head all the way right, follow the hall up north, then turn left and take the southern door to return to the main lobby.
Time to return to the game room: keep going all the way left, through the double doors, all the way left and back to the game room. Save your progress and organize your inventory. Make sure to take the Crank with you. A boss is up next, so I recommend grabbing your pistol if you don't have it on hand.
When you're ready, head down the fireplace.
Talk to Mary.
Continue right and you'll notice the doors become locked with chains.
Keep going right until you reach the cages, then head south and right again.
Talk to the old man on the floor.

Boss Fight #1

The old man will transform into a spider monster -- the first boss. He'll charge at you and swipe you. If you take too much damage, he'll grab and eat you. Additionally, there will be several spiderwebs spawned across the floor that do damage if you touch them, so avoid them whenever possible.
Once he is dead, return to where the old man was on the floor and use the Crank on the wall to lower the ladder.
Head up the ladder.
Pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum.
Exit the room to reach Lord Steinrot's office.
Read the note on Lord Steinrot's desk:
Edmond
Graham
Clayton
Wesley
Victor
Head right and go through the door.
Read the note on the bookshelf:
Desden, 3-11-1710.
Today I arrived in Dresden, which will be my residence by now.
All day I have been tidying up my belongings. There are so many trunks and boxes that I cannot find my old journal, so I thought it best to start a new one.
Perhaps it's the most suitable, after all I'm starting from scratch.
I was surprised to find a small chest with ancient writings, I don't remember having them.
The strangest thing is that they belong to an ancestor that I have never heard of.
I'll read them tomorrow. They seem interesting.
Hartmut Steinrot.
Head down the stairs by the bookshelf.
Follow the path along.
Pick up the Ammunition from the glass storage unit.
Pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum from the bookshelf.
Head up the ladder to reach the archives room.

LIBRARY
Save and put away any unnecessary items (e.g. Crank).
Read the note on the far right bookshelf:
Dresden, 3-13-1710
I've been reading the writings for days, I haven't been able to stop doing it since I started them. They are fascinating.
Most of the writings deal with the existence of two realities superimposed on ours. Two worlds and an entity or deity trapped between them.
Are they the deceptions of a sick person or is there some truth to them?
Some of the writings are in Latin, I can hardly translate them, but there is a word that is repeated several times: Lamentum. The Lament.
Hartmut Steinrot.
Exit the archive room.
Walkthrough Pt. 4
Head left towards the statues for a brief cutscene.
Pick up the Map off the table to the left.
Head through the door on the left.
Follow the path left, then south, and turn left at the split.

Head left, up north past The White Lady statue, turn right and enter the wooden double doors.
Head right and turn north at the intersection.
Unlock the door with the Eye Key to enter the courtyard.
Head north to meet Clayton. After a brief cutscene, you'll unlock:

A pathetic violinist.
Head straight up through the metal doors.
Follow the path along and avoid being hit by the statues.
Pick up the Gear from the mechanism--this will also disable the statues.
Head back through the previous metal door.
Head south through the metal door to return to the mansion.
Continue south, turn left and go through the southern door.
From the main lobby, return to the library by entering the bottom-right door.
Enter the upper-left door.
Follow the path left, then south, and turn left at the split.
Enter the left door (where you originally found the Eye Key).
Place the Gear in the mechanism.
Exit the room.
Head right, avoid being hit by the statues, and through the door.
Read the note on the table:
Dear Edmond.
Although we have taken different paths in our search, our objective has always been the same.
The knowledge that you accumulated over the years has given you hope, yet my learning has only served to add weight and sorrow to my soul.
I have sought through music to get closer to the divinity of the human spirit, and as you well know my efforts have not borne fruit.
Why can't I have the gift that I want so much?
I will be forever grateful that you thought of me to join in the search for it.
As you well know, my desire is strong and my will is firm.
I am ready for anything.
Eternally grateful, Lord Clayton.
Pick up the Ammunition from the bottom-left desk.
Exit the room.
Head left and turn north. Keep going north until you reach a door. Enter it.
Pick up the Root Key from the upper-right table.
Pick up the Map from the lower-right desk.
Exit the room.
Head right and return to the library area with the three statues.
Head south through the door to return to the mansion main lobby.
Head through the upper-left open metal grate door.
Unlock the upper-left root door with the Root Key for a cutscene.
Read the note by the tree:
I can't stop thinking about what I did.
I hope you rest in peace among my dear muses.
Pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum in the upper-left corner.
Exit the room.
Head down the southern-left path past the bookshelves and crates, then follow the path right until you reach the last door. Unlock it with the Root Key.
Pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum from the desk.
Pick up the Vitriol Oil from the upper-right bookshelf.
Read the note on the left bookshelf:
Warehouse inventory:
The last sack of salt has been taken to the kitchen, we must replenish.
We need to buy more sulfur.
The arsenic shipment was in bad shape.
The gardener needs strong water for the weeds in the garden.
Exit the room.
Head north and take the lower-left door to return to the mansion main lobby.
Enter the upper-left double wooden doors.
Head left and turn north at the intersection.
Unlock the root door with the Root Key.

COURTYARD
Head right. You'll encounter a new type of enemy. The root monster will only take damage from every second hit.
Kill the monster and pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum to the right of the shed.
Enter the gardener's shed.
Pick up the Shovel.
Read the note on the crate:
This year the lilacs are growing beautiful. I'm sure the Count will be delighted.
However, I cannot get rid of the weeds that grow next to the hedges.
Maybe I could use strong water to burn them? I know Lord Steinrot makes chemicals in the basement lab.
I have used strong water. I shouldn't have, the smell is irritating. I'll put it in a jar and bury it under the boxes of fertilizer.
Feel free to save and store any unnecessary items (you don't need the Vitriol Oil right now and no longer need the Root Key).
Exit the gardener's shed.
Head left until you find the boxes of fertilizer.
Equip the Shovel and dig around them to find Strong Water.
Head right and turn north through the path surrounded by trees. Continue heading north until you reach a metal door. Enter it.
Continue north until you encounter a woman. Talk to her.
(Note: You need to select "No, Sorry. I am looking for my wife." in order to get the A ending. Selecting "There is no one else here" will void your opportunity to get that ending).
Continue north and turn left on the dirt path. Avoid the plants as they release poison if you get too close.
Enter the bottom metal door.
There are a lot of enemies wandering this area, so be careful.
You'll notice an item to pick up to your left. Walk down and around the hedges to reach it.
Pick up the Ammunition.
Follow the wall all the way left and pick up the Half Bottle of Laudenum by the skull statue.
Make your way back to the right and go south. You should find a bust statue in the middle of the area.
From the bust statue, go as far left as you can until you find a dragon statue.
Press the interact key behind the dragon statue to find a Tooth (3/6).
Note the numbers on the wall: - 2 1 -
Head back left and make your way north once the wall ends.
There is a Half Bottle of Laudenum under a lamp post if needed.
Go north-west until you find a metal door.
Note the number on the wall: - - - 3
Enter the door.
Follow the dirt path north, then right, and enter the first metal door you see to enter the grave of the fireflies.
Read the note on the stone bench:
I can't sleep tonight either.
The light from the lamp in my room has attracted some moths, they flutter nervously around it.
Some of them get too close to the flame and burn.
Why do they hover near a light that can end their life?
Every night I see Edmond through the library windows. That young man, Victor... He seems very sad.
I would like to come closer and ask him what his pain is ,but I can't find the strength to do it.
Every night I watch, from a distance, wondering how I could help him.
The full moon continues to shine and the moths continue to flutter around the flame.
Maybe I'm a moth too.
M.
You'll notice a locked cabin that requires a 4-digit pass code to unlock.
Hint: The numbers are written across the walls of the labyrinth (though I ended up brute forcing it from the 3 numbers I found)
Answer: 4213

Read the note on the table:
Dear Leonore.
I've barely spent time with Victor since we got to Grau Hill.
Every night he meets Edmond in the library and the next day he is too tired to spend time with me. I know something is tormenting him, but he doesn't want to talk about it.
He asks me to trust him. He says that with Edmond's help, he will find a way to heal me. However, I think that it is a wasted effort.
Time passes slowly in this place.
A few days ago I met a girl when I was walking in the gardens. Her name is Mary, she is Edmond's daughter. Strange that I haven't seen her before. Mary is a shy girl, but little by little we have become friends.
I hope to see you soon, Leonore.
With all my love.
Alissa.
You will hear a woman crying. Start backtracking to the start of the area and you will run into the apparition once more.

Head through the metal door above Clayton.
Follow the path along until a cutscene with Clayon triggers.

Boss Fight #2
For this boss fight, you'll want to melee attack the root monsters along the wall. Once you melee one, Clayton will fall to the ground, giving you an opportunity to shoot him with your pistol.
There are several root monsters around the area, and they'll eventually recover after you melee them, allowing you to repeat the process. Make sure you're running and kiting Clayton around the whole time. After several bullets, Clayton will fall.
There are several items to loot in this area:
  • Half Bottle of Laudenum by the lamp post in the middle.
  • Ammunition by the lamp post in the top-left of the area.

Walkthrough Pt. 6
For this puzzle, you'll need to figure out the correct path to follow. If you make a mistake, traps will trigger (but they won't instantly kill you). Additionally, if you don't follow the correct path, the gate at the end will not open. (Note: If you accidentally trigger a trap, you need to go back to the start and step on the button in front of Mary to reset the puzzle).
Hint: Combine the two patterns on the statues to find the correct symbol path

Dresden, 4-15-1710
There was something hidden in the writings of my ancestor.
After several days studying them I have been able to understand something that was in front of my eyes, but nevertheless I could not see.
The lament, the pact. It can't be true, it's crazy.
I've to make sure that what I have read is nothing more than the reflection of a sick mind. But what if it were all true?
I could restore the glory to my lineage. Or found my own legacy.
Anything would be possible as long as you were willing to pay the price.
Tomorrow I'll pack my bags and retrace the steps of my ancestor. I have to see with my own eyes what he saw.
Only then I'll know if it's true or if I've succumbed to madness like him.
Hartmut Steinrot.
Head back through both cracks in the wall.

Father Graham has been essential in finding potential candidates. Nobody questions his goodwill land even less so if some palms are greased by coin.
Most of the candidates have been dismissed, but I am hopeful for the girl.
If necessary I will make her pass as my daughter. I have to be cautious and make sure that no one has an affectionate relationship with her.
The container should be empty when the time comes.
Edmond Steinrot.
Interact with the portrait in the middle of the room and use the Amber Medallion on it.
Read the note behind the portrait:
With the help of Father Graham I have moved the heavy marble slab and transported the coffin to my room.
I have not had the courage to open it...
My dear Magda. I can't bear to see you like this.
Father Graham has cleaned up her remains in the bathtub and made the necessary preparations.
That night I could not sleep and went for a walk in the gardens.
As I walked, I seemed to see in the distance a dark figure carrying something in her arms. Who was that?
I have to rest, I can't afford to fail now. Not when I'm so close.
Soon we'll be together.

Pick up the Ammunition on the bookshelf in the top-right corner.
Save your progress and head through the northern metal door.
Time for another puzzle! Examine each 3x3 grid. There are 4 in total.
Similar to the last puzzle, you need to find the correct path to make it to the end. If you take the wrong path, you'll fall through the trap and die.
Hint: Each 3x3 grid displays the path you should take for each symbol. Note that the symbol orientation matters as well, so if the symbol is rotated the path will be rotated too.
Answer:

Once you make it through, pick up the Mirror from the statue.
Read the note on the upper-left table:
My grandfather believed that there was no single God. He said that behind the stars, in the dark, old forgotten gods dwell.

I've been looking for several days and have found some very strange scores in the library.
I need time to order them.
Have I finally found what I was looking for?
After years of searching I can't contain my excitement.

All this time I've been thinking that maybe I was as crazy as my ancestor.
Mad? What is madness?
I've traveled and seen what he saw. I've seen a glimpse of the two worlds superimposed on ours, and their inhabitants. My God! Those creatures, they are here, among us, but we do not see them.

I've been asking questioning and I finally think I've got it.
I've paid 10 coins, and they have promised me that no one will ask questions when the boy disappears.

Since she died, I've been writing all day. I hear a voice in my head telling me to write, I'm sure it's my wife's voice.
I know Lord Steinrot can help me. I'm sure that if he gives me the opportunity, I can show him that I'm trustworthy.

I'm not alone. Someone is calling me from the other side.

MIRROR WORLD

Pick up the Laudenum by the corpse.
Read the note on the bottom-left desk:
Today Edmond has shown me a glimpse of what he calls "the other place."
My goodness! What did I see? What was that place?
He explained to me that it is a reflection of our world, but different ...
It is something like a dream, or rather, a nightmare.
That "other place" is like a ladder that you must descend. With each step you go down, you will get closer to the place where that being that Edmond calls 'The Lament" lives.
That being has many names, Edmond says that there was a time when he was worshiped as a god. For hours he has explained to me what the pact that we are going to make consists of... I hope I have the strength to do what he asks of me.
Alissa, forgive me for what I'm going to do.

Dresden, 10-4-1711
I did it. I mustered up the courage and did it.
I seal the pact and now there is no turning back.
I look around me and I think I'm in my room. But I'm not in it.
Another tooth has fallen out, I hardly have any left. Maybe it's a hallucination or maybe something in me is changing.
I'm scared. I know I'm not in the depths yet.
I can still go down one more step and if I do, I'll be where she is. I couldn't bear it, I know I would go crazy just seeing her.
I hear voices, I mustn't be afraid, I paid the price that was demanded of me. After the pain comes the reward.
The promise will be fulfilled.
Hartmut Steinrot.
Read the note on the upper-right table:
I've been studying for months how to access the family crypt. It seems to be related to the four sons of the founder.
I have searched the family records and found only one entry regarding the location of their graves.
"Their remains rest under the watchful eye of angels."
Read the book up north in front of the ouroboros symbol to get a better look at it:

He hides behind dusty books and rituals. He wants to find a way to make an exchange, a kind of barter.
Foolish! We are dealing with a true god!
A divine being! We should kneel before her and worship her!
Edmond has surrounded himself with others that he can manipulate. He plays on their hopes and dreams so that he can do whatever he wants with them, but I see further than him.
I know that sooner or later you will realize that faith is the only thing that can save us.

OK. I may have missed out on something, but that's all I know.

I gave the rope to the stranger and was locked out of the optional boss, but still got the redemption achieve

"Redemption ending" also needs to kill all bosses to unlock and since there's one boss in the well to which I don't have a rope, this achievement stays locked up for me.

"The moth and the flame" didn't work for me because I couldn't find the lady under the lamp. Can you send me a picture of exactly where she is? I swear I went through everything and couldn't find the lady. Thanks.

Just wanted to give a HUGE shoutout to the creator of this wonderful guide/walkthrough. It's flawless and made the game so much more enjoyable for me! The attention to detail and accuracy is super appreciated so many thanks from a fellow gamer to another. Wish more games had top-notch text-based guides like this one!

You didn't mention that tooth #2 is missable. You have to enter the tunnels with enough space in the inventory for the tooth to be picked up. I followed your guide to a T and the only reason I managed to be able to pick it up was because I emptied out my ammunition.

Great guide! One thing that can be good to that: you can go to the bottom-left door before 'MIRROR WORLD" in order to save the game
