SS Ceramic

Here is the SS Ceramic, a cargo liner built for the White Star Line.

She was built for the Liverpool to Australia routes and was the largest ship on the route until RMS Mooltan was completed in 1923. During World War 1 she was requisitioned by Australia as a troopship, out running and dodging many U-boat attacks. She survived the war and was handed back to the White Star Line in 1920, and was given a refit that same year. In the 1930s, White Star Line merged with their rivals Cunard Line, and liquidated their Liverpool to Australia routes and sold their assets to Shaw, Savill & Albion Line, including the liners Ceramic and Ionic. Ceramic kept her name and continued sailing to Australia, being refitted again in 1936. She continued civilian service until World War 2 broke out, and was converted into a troopship once more. She mostly served in convoys and was involved in a collision with the cargo ship Testbank, which didn't sink the 2 ships but heavily damaged both of them. On December 7th, 1942, Ceramic was sunk, being torpedoed many times by submarine U-515. Of the 656 onboard, only one person survived. The one who survived was a sapper onboard, Eric Munday, who was taken prisoner on the U-515 and remained in a PoW camp until the war ended.

NOTE: There is one major inaccuracy with this model. The Ceramic had 3 propellers, while this model only has 2.
