Harmony of Dissonance - Bonus Game Modes

This guide will show you the various game modes for Harmony of Dissonance and how to play them.

Introduction

There are several different game modes you can play in Harmony of Dissonance. Some are obtained after completing the game. This guide will show you how to play them and include some bonus content for them.

Boss Rush Mode

Boss rush mode is unlocked after completion of the main game. This mode allows you to run through the game's bosses one after another.

How to Play
You can pick your choice of subweapon at the start to use for every boss fight. You cannot pause or use items, and will have to travel from one boss room to another after each fight. There is also no access or choice to equipment.

Git Gud

There are 3 difficulties, easy, medium, and hard. You unlock the difficulties as you beat them. Here is the list of bosses you will fight on each difficulty.

Bonus
You can play as Simon Belmont in Boss Rush. To play as Simon. Start the game from the beginning and enter the Konami code ( UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, START) when you see the Konami screen. Select Boss Rush and pick any difficulty and you can play as Simon Belmont.

Extra Bonus
You can play as Maxim in Boss Mode too. Just hold the buttons you bind for 'L' and 'R' buttons (these were L1 and R1 for me) while choosing a difficulty and you'll be playing as Maxim.

Hard Mode

If you want to play the game but harder you can play it in Hard mode.

How to play
When starting a new game, on the name-entry screen enter HARDGAME as your name. Juste will shout something and the game will start in hard mode.

Maxim Mode

This mode allows you to play as maxim, with his own unique abilities and moves.

How to play
When starting a new game, on the name-entry screen enter MAXIM as your name.

Gameplay
Maxim has his own unique way of playing. He moves faster than Juste and instead of collecting abilities he starts with a triple jump. Instead of a whip he uses a quick swinging sword and has only one subweapon, a shuriken. You can't access the menu when you play as Maxim so there are no recovery items or equipment to collect. The Life Up and Heart Up items are the only ones from base game that remain, and all other items are replaced with a heart (1) on the ground.

Special Moves
Maxim has 3 special moves (2 magic and 1 hearts) he can preform using magic.

Air Roll
Maxim can curl up and attack while rolling. This is mostly used as a replacement for the highjump and reaching places the triple jump cannot get to. You can preform it by pressing UP + A while in the air. This move drains MP as long you do it.

Clone Attack
Maxim will do a lesser clone attack that hits everything on screen like the one he does in his boss form. It takes up half the magic bar.

Healing
The only way to heal outside of finding Life Up items. Press UP - DOWN - DOWN/FORWARD - FORWARD + ATTACK. Maxim surrounds himself with holy light and restores his health. This costs 50 Hearts.

Tip
Save hearts for the healing move and don't use shurikens if game is too hard.

No Magic Mode

This move removes magic (spellbooks) from the game.

How to play
Start a new game and select NO MAGIC as the name. Juste Makes a sound if done correctly and the game starts in no magic mode.

One thing that should be clarified is that, for the "NO MAGIC" code in Harmony of Dissonance, you don't actually select a blank space for the space between words. You need to press the right shoulder button to skip that space and enter the rest of the letters.
