A guide on every achievement, all the information and tips you will need to complete all the Substories, Diligence Records and Completion List. SPOILER FREE

Introduction

On this guide you will find explanation for the majority of the achievements except for the ones that are self explanatory or unmissable. This is my first time doing a guide, any advice or correction in the comment section will be highly apreciated. Since you can decide for yourself when to do any side content on the game, the guide is divided on different sections.

Next, I would like to give you some advices before you start aiming for the full completion of the achievements in this game. Before you decide to obtain them all, you need to know that there is only one achievement you can miss, so to avoid that, make a backup save file on the final chapter. If you are familiar to this game series you may know that there is always a achievement for completing the game on Legend difficulty, in this game you can choose whichever dificulty from the start and change it just before the end, thats why a save backup may come handy.

Once this clear, choose the level of dificulty you prefer and welcome to my Ishin guide, hope you find it usefull.

Story-Related

The following achievements will unlock while you play the main story and you complete the respectibe chapters, so you can completely avoid this section if you don't want to see spoilers from the achievement icons or names.

NOTE: You only need to beat the final part on Legend Dificulty to get the achievement, that's the reason I mentioned you should have made a save backup on the final chapter. You'll need to stock up healing items, and make some upgrading on equipment, abilities and troopers. Backup done you can leave this achievement for any moment.

Legend of an Era
Completed the game on Legend Dificulty.

Virtue

You will have no problem obtaining the following achievements, completing all the game content will grant you more than enought Virtue, if you whant to ensure them earlier you can purchase the Virtue boosting upgrades at the shrines.


Nominally Virtuous
Earned at least 10,000 Virtue in total.




Fairly Virtuous
Earned at least 50,000 Virtue in total.




Extraordinarily Virtuous
Earned at least 100,000 Virtue in total.




Divinely Virtuous
Earned at least 300,000 Virtue in total.

Substories

There is a Substory Finder equipment piece that will help you find them, the Inviting Hat, you will get it by completing the substory number 63, this substory can be completed chapter 5 onwards. There are allso some other substories that need some specific requirements and the Inviting Hat won't help you on this matter, so I recomend you to have this in mind and follow the requirements for those tricky substories that I will put here. Lastly, some substories aren't active from the start of the chapter, so take that into account.

You will find the Memoirs by picking the glowing object of the floor, same as the prize tickets, check every corner of the map even inside buidings like the Gambling Den. Memoirs are attached to story progress, you will need to finish the main story. Discuss them with Satow.
72	A Lasting Thist for Peace	Once you have completed substory 71, you have to find the last Memoir. In my case I found it near the gate of the temple, in the forest path.

Anyway you will need to invest a lot of virtue points at the shrine rising your reputation in order to max them all.

While you deliver orders for Haruka, around every 10 Ryo you make a letter will be delivered to you when you pass by the door of your house. You have to pay the debt collector 20 Ryo 5 times, you can't pay the hole debt in one go.

Exchange Virtue on the Second Home section at the shrine on any interior.

There are a total of 8 Books of Revelations, here a small description on where to find them, what you need to unlock them and some tips:

• Throw: Complete all the Brawler trainings with Komaki. This one is pretty easy, do some parrys with Brawler style.
  
  
• Strike: Complete Advanced Room 10 at Scarecrow Chateau, complete four Basic Rooms to unlock this difficulty. Same as the previous one (Throw) you have to make some parrys to enter the War Cry Counter mode, to make it properly, make some parrys and strike some punches while a red glow surrounds you, eventually the icon will pop up.
  
  
• Flash: Complete all the Swordsman trainings at the Ginryu Dojo. Unlock the Splendid Skill: Fair Weather by placing a soul orb, you will need a few, then perform the skill with armed enemies.
  
  
• Smash: Defeat the eighth Wanted Man at Tachibanagumi HQ on the second floor at Mukurogai. This one allso is pretty straight forward, break some enemies guard.
  
  
• Spree: Complete all Gunman trainings with William at Uyu-an. Place an orb in the skill Jumping Shots, then do some, pretty easy.
  
  
• Gust: After completing all Gunman trainings exchange 5 Carved Wooden Bears with one of the trading mans at the Gunman dojo, you can find the Wooden Beards at the Arena shop for 5,000 points each. Place and orb on the skill Texas Two-Step, while making the skill the icon will pop up a second after doing the skill, similar to how you unlocked the Strike Revelation.
  
  
• Frenzy: Complete all Wild Dancer trainings at Ginryu Dojo. You need to perform some Phoenix Frenzy, you don't need to place any orb here, pressing the button (B,◯) three times, that's the skill.
  
  
• Evasion: Complete Hell Room 10 at Scarecrow Chateau, clear 4 Basic Rooms to unlock Advanced Rooms and 6 Advanced Rooms to unlock the Hell Rooms. This one is pretty easy too, make some evasions.

There are three main ways to recruit Troopers, completing Battle Dungeon missions, investing Ryo on the Enlistment section in the Battle Dungeon menu at the Shinsengumi barracks and defeating certain enemies on the street.


The best and cheapest way to recruit troopers is by defeting this type of enemies on the street. You can find three diferent enemies whith this hood, bronze, silver and gold, the color will determine the rarity of the Trooper, defeating Gold or Silver hood enemies will grant you good Trooper Cards, like legendaries or epic, this will grant you support for beating the game or the harder difficulties since early on.

Completion List - Equipment

Here comes the moment of truth, were you have to endure farming Battle Dungeons and Money. I would like to share some advice to avoid becoming frustrated. Use Iron Hammers to craft, this will get us some seals, we will focus on that later on. While you are clearing Battle Dungeons you can switch difficulty to easy so you clear stages quicker, also focus on equipment that don't require dragon parts or low drop items such as Golden Medicine Case.

Money and Virtue Farming

Since we are gonna need a lot of money to craft every piece of equipment, let's discuss about how to make it efficiently, and not only money also a lot of Virtue. The method has a glitch you can exploit. We are gonna gamble on chicken races, the way to bet correctly will be by checking the condition and prediction columns, the higher the condition arrow better and the more double circles on prediction higher wining ods. Knowing that, we are gonna bet on Divident List - Quintuple Exacta for the two or three chickens with better probabilities, on all the bets were our chickens end in first place. In addition, after you end placing your bets you can use a glith to make even more points and guarantee wining, after placing your bets, select Exit Chicken Race and quickly after on Start Race, by doing this the game will return us the points we bet and start the race anyway, guaranteeing our profit.

Tips

Before crafting anything I would suggest leveling up the blacksmith to lvl 16 to unlock all the discounts and peaces of equipment by donating 100 Ryo worth 1000 mon weapons from the nearby weapon dealer, that the fast way if the money ain't an issue.

If you are trying to craft a weapon and a message telling you can't craft Enchanted Weapons pops up, equip the weapon you wanna upgrade and the materials, and bring it to the guy seated by the river near the shrine at Mukurogai.

After you have crafted almost every equipment piece and you have "those" weapons left we wiil focus on beating Sanada Nobuyasu for the low drop materials left. The best strategy is to use the Wild Dancer style, with the Heat filled up, use Kasuga and Yukimitsu to boost attack then hold RT / R2.

Completion List - Equipment - Seals

To obtain most of the seals I will suggest farming them by defeating random enemies around the street and get the remaining by crafting equipment, you have to enhance successfully the seal to add it to the Completion List.

Golden Sneaks (golden mask enemy) have higher probability to drop rare seals. Golden Sneaks spawn more often around the bridges of Rakugai and Rakunai, so the riverside and bridges of Kamo River is our ideal spot. Don't forget to check if the seal is round or square some seals have the same name and icon, round seals for weapons square for armor, you might not realize that you can have allready more seals than you think.

Each piece of equipment has certain seals that may pop up while we craft, follow the list below to see witch seals can appear in every weapon or armor piece. The way to look for an specific seal is the following, make sure the equipment you are crafting has an empty seal slot. First, save the game, then craft the desired equipment (I would suggest crafting a bunch), if the seal does not appear, load the game, after loading craft any cheap equipment piece and save again, this will reset the seal appearance, now try again, follow this steps till you get it.

Just wanted to add my experience trying to get Squared Seal: Special moves. Farmed over a 100 Golden Sneaks and got everything else except the Special Moves seal. Tried 3-15 "Defeat the Gun Squad" dungeon and got it on the first try, in the final room. So try this dungeon if you want this specific seal.

For the legend achievement, do you need to complete the entire final chapter on Legend or just complete it? Like can I just do the entire chapter up to the end, then change the difficulty before the final encounter? Just curious to know where the backup save needs to be. Thanks!

You need to recruit 100 Troopers in the 3 ways that I point out in the guide, the game gives you some Troopers to start with (DLCs included), those don't count. Hope this solves your question, have a nice day.

Hi I have a question. For "Drop and Give Me 100" I assume I need 100 or more troops in my posse, which I do have no. But still no achievement. Do I need to RECRUIT 100 troops?
