Trade Merchants: Stock and Exchange
By Supercalifragilistic
A list of the merchants in the game, their locations, their stock, and their exchange rates. Because Swery thinks it's funny to hide some unique items on these nerds.

What are Trade Merchants?
These Merchants stand next to the roads trading goods for other goods. They're annoying to find and have weird exchange rates. Note that most of their trades are complete rip-offs. If anything, the Aluminum Can trade is the best bang for your buck. So unless you need something specific, trading with merchants is generally not worth it. At least now you won't have to travel between all of them, backtrack to get the right items and then backtrack again to trade the item. Now you can do it in one go. Don't suffer like I did.

Swery is a madman and I stand by all his silly game decisions, even these rip-off merchants.

Recommendations
Curious what to trade in? Here are my recommendations.

  • Aluminum Can
The Ded Bull for one Aluminum Can sounds like a rip-off, but it's actually the best trade these merchants offer. A lot of items at McAvoy's Construction and Fancy & Bunny require Aluminum Chunks. These are hard to come by. Aluminum Cans can be traded in at McAvoy's for an Aluminum Nugget, of which 10 of those can be traded in for an Aluminum Chunk. The only other place to get Aluminum Cans is trash bins when digging through it in dog form. Ded Bull can be obtained by smashing boxes while riding on a sheep, so you'll actually have a steady supply of Ded Bull. Therefore, this is the best trade the game offers you.
  • Coarse Beetle/Sandy Caterpillar/ Butterfly Wing trades
Any food items you can trade for the lowest tier insects are a pretty okay deal. The fish ingredients otherwise have to be bought in Eccles. If you're also as neurotic as me when it comes to picking off items off the ground, you should be drowning in the lowest tier of insects you can find. I however recommend visiting the Woodland Witch first, as her potions are better bang for you buck, especially the defense item that makes you immune to Badger's while under its effect and in dog form. But if you want to cook with them, this is a good place to get them cheap.
  • Bread and Bun
If you kill a lot of rodents, you probably have stacks of Small Animal Hides. You don't need them for a lot of useful things, so you might as well trade them in for some Bread and Buns. Though arguably, it's barely worth your time to get, considering most recipes involving these ingredients are not that great. But if you want them, it's not a bad deal.

Everything else is a scam. The trade-ins are sometimes really rare items that it requires and all items can either be found in much easier places or bought in shops for less than the rare ingredients are worth. Especially items that ask for things for example like Tear Fruit, Turbid Sap and Foxfur Felt are terrible trades. Stick to the recommendations, the rest isn't worth your resources.
