This is a quick and dirty guide on how to use my Xpadder profile to play Arx Fatalis with an Xbox One/360 controller, and (maybe) even other controllers! 😊

What you'll need:

• Gog or Steam copy of Arx Fatalis installed with...
  
• Arx Libertatis 1.2 mod/patch: https://arx-libertatis.org/
  
• Xpadder program (I'm using the paid 2020 version): https://xpadder.com/
  
• A basic setup of Xpadder already, well setup...so that you can use the Xpadder profile from the link below. I won't be covering how to setup Xpadder here, just the basics on how to use the profile.

Basically I made this as user friendly as I could.

• Left Thumbstick is the movement and clicking it allows crawl. Top LB when held is Stealth when moving or Auto pickup to Inventory when used with Right Trigger(Left Mouseclick) depending on what you're doing.
  
• Right Thumbstick controls the Mouse and Look with a toggle on the click.
  
• Anything with a forward-slash means you can hold the button down and it'll do that action after the forward-slash, i.e. Inv/Menu means if you click it once it'll open the Inventory, and if you hold it, it'll go to the Main Menu, or escape from an in-game menu.
  
• Left Trigger switches the set from 1 to 2, when held, to use other buttons like Torch or Character sheet.

And the best part, is the Magic Mode toggle.

1. If you press the X button (on xbox controller), it'll turn on Magic Drawing mode, and all you have to do is hold down the right trigger to begin drawing a rune, and let it go to complete one.
   
2. Once you've drawn 2 or more runes, you can press the X button again to stop Magic Mode, and it will cast the spell...
   
3. Or if you want to save the spell to one of the 3 D-pad hotkeys, hold down the Top LB button, and then press the X button, and it'll save it to one of the hotkeys 1-3 in order. 😉

The rest of the buttons, should be self explanatory. And I'll add some pics so everyone can get a gist.


I did have to fiddle around with some control options in the menu so I'll post that pic too.
If you decide the speed is too slow/fast on camera or mouse movement, you can play arouind with the in-game mouse sensitivity, and last resort is changing the mouse settings on the Right Thumbstick within Xpadder itself.
