How to get the new Portal UI

This guide tells you how to change your Portal Menu to the new Steam Deck UI.

Introduction

Welcome to this guide!
This guide changes your menus to the menu that was originally made for the Steam Deck, but you can get this menu on your PC as well!

Instructions

Go to Portal in your Steam Library.
Click on the Manage button as shown here:



Click on the Properties option.



A window should launch. Go to Launch Options and paste in the following:

-gamepadui

Tip:

If you already have some Launch Options, add this to the very start of them.

Close the window, launch Portal and enjoy the new UI!

Note:

Changing options in the options menu will not work with mouse interactions in this mode, you have to use the arrow keys.

that's odd. i'm on nvidia and it still doesn't work, messes up the textures

it seems like some graphics cards have issues with this, mainly intel graphics. for now it seems to work on amd and nvidia

there is "deck_test" beta version in properties, maybe that should work

this messed up all the textures and hid the buttons. i dont know if its a me problem, though

@Noise maybe it wont work for you then. it switches to vulkan for the gamepad ui, to make sure it runs smooth on steam deck. this might only work on some pcs, but i dont know
