Introduction
Welcome viewers to the first of our "How To:" guides on this game! I had a series like this for a different game going for a while before it died out thanks to said game's lack of updates (it was literally silent for a year). Because of that, I decided to carry the series over here to act as a guide of advice for newer players to the game. With that said, who better to start with than our favorite blue huggable monster, Huggy Wuggy!

He should need no introduction by now, as I'm sure most of us are familiar with him, but just in case, I'll give him one anyway. Huggy Wuggy (or Experiment 1170) is the face of Poppy Playtime, making his first appearance in Chapter 1, "A Tight Squeeze." His iconic vent chase in said chapter has made him a very popular individual in the community, spouting off countless amounts of merch themed after him, as well as letting Poppy Playtime take off as the next big horror title at the time. He returns here in Project: Playtime as a playable character on the monster side, and that's what we'll be focusing on, not his history in the base game. With that said, let's dive in!
Character Stats

Like his description on the character select states, Huggy Wuggy follows a "brute" stereotype monster, charging head first into the fray and causing chaos whenever possible with no regard for stealth. His tall frame and loud footsteps would make it hard for him to be stealthy anyway, so he is not built for the playstyle. Huggy is more streamlined than Mommy and Boxy, as his overall kit is basic and easy to understand (more on it later). In terms of stats, Huggy is the most lethal of the three monsters in terms of raw power, being able to down survivors in only three hits, whereas Mommy requires four hits and Boxy takes five. Unlike the others, he does NOT suffer a movement speed penalty when launching attacks out, letting him consistently stay on top of survivors and keep his momentum going. Speaking of movement speed, he, like all other monsters, are able to keep up with survivors in straight sprints, requiring them to utilize doors or juking via rolls to outpace them. This, combined with his Charge, makes him extremely dangerous in open spaces or when unobstructed by the environment, making quick work of anyone in his way. He can also apply good map pressure later in the game as puzzle pillars get completed (but not all of them, as he's pretty much screwed if all the toy parts are delivered. However, this is nothing new, as all monsters pretty much lose if they fail to stop toy pillars from getting done), as it allows him to focus his mini huggy sentries on ones that aren't done or block off routes to reach them, allowing him to have constant map knowledge if survivors aren't careful. Finally, Huggy is capable of jumping like survivors do, meaning anywhere survivors can parkour to, Huggy can do as well, making nowhere truly safe from him.

As powerful as Huggy is, he has several weaknesses that gives him the reputation among more professional players as the weakest of the three monsters currently available. Despite his short burst of speed he gets from Charging, he has the worst mobility choices available, making him easily juked, looped, and everything in between if Charge is on cooldown. This is made even worse with low ceiling spots that force Huggy to crouch, as that lets his prey gain distance on him and even cancels Charge since it will not function when he's crouched. Charge is difficult to control during its use, making it harder to pull off when there's not a lot of room on the map to work with. He also has the worst player tracking of the three monsters, as the mini huggies can be unreliable if not placed properly or he doesn't reach their location in time. He has no way to bypass the hooks that survivors can use to swing across gaps, meaning he has to take the long way around. Finally, Huggy is somewhat reliant on sabotages to help him catch more skilled survivors due to his many weaknesses, meaning he can completely fall flat against them if they aren't available, which is often due to sabotages having very high cooldown.

Overall, Huggy Wuggy is a monster that excels at ending chases before they even begin, utilizing his Charge and his high power to go on killing sprees. However, he can struggle in tight spaces and in extended chases, as his lack of map maneuverability is a huge flaw of his, and his primary weakness as a result.
Abilities
Huggy Wuggy currently has two abilities available to him; "Charge" and "Wuggy Sentry."

Wuggy Sentry

All three monsters have ways to track players and know where they are at. For Huggy Wuggy, the Wuggy Sentry is his tracker. Upon using it, Huggy places down a Wuggy/Mini Huggy wherever the player controlling him desires. The Wuggy will constantly spin in circles surveying the area and will start flailing and screaming when a survivor enters their radius, alerting Huggy in the process. Huggy can place down five of them at once before previously placed Wuggies will despawn in favor of the new ones. These adorable little dudes are used to litter across the map to give Huggy map knowledge of where to find people, but must be placed strategically in order to make the most out of them. For example: Huggy will want to place them around corners or hidden in low ceiling spots early game in order to block off routes and take survivors by surprise. In mid-late game scenarios where some pillars are complete, Huggy may want to consider placing them closer to remaining pillars (such as in the direction of incomplete puzzles instead of right on top of the puzzle to discourage doing them without alerting Huggy) in order to be alerted to when survivors are attempting to solve them. Alternatively, if Huggy has the Shutdown sabotage on hand, he can place Wuggies at the generators to alert him of when they are being activated, letting him go to town on the survivors there if he makes it quick enough. Placement of the Wuggies is key, as they can be unreliable in tracking survivors if they're out in the open or too close to an objective, effectively making them useless. They also become completely obsolete once puzzle pillars are completed, as the pipe objective is alerted to everyone and it forces everyone together anyway.

Charge

This ability is way more straightforward than Wuggy Sentry, as well as BY FAR Huggy Wuggy's best tool. Upon use, Huggy gains a massive burst in speed and will automatically kill whoever he runs into regardless of their health. Due to changing directions being a bit tricky while this is in use, it is best to use this when you have a clear shot at your target or are in a very open area. In this scenario, Huggy is one of the most dangerous things in the game, especially if there's more than one survivor present in the room, as he can naturally kill one, then immediately Charge and kill another, then dump both into the Wulag. Alternatively, the Charge can also help close distance between a 1v1 chase with a survivor if he's too far, and can even let him pass through a door before it shuts on him if he's close enough prior to the door shutting, although most of the time survivors will shut it on him anyway, so don't rely on that to let you bypass doors. It has a high cooldown due to its potency and will not work when he's crouched or in a low ceiling, but with proper timing and some strategy, Huggy can rack up kills quickly with this and his high killing potential normally.
Useful Sabotages
There are five sabotages that Huggy Wuggy directly benefits from. They will be listed and described in the list below in no particular order.

Feeding Frenzy: This sabotage makes all downed survivors get sent straight to the Wulag without being dropped down a hole. Feeding Frenzy is a very lethal combination with Huggy, easily being the best abuser of it since it allows him to waste less time with downed survivors and instead focus on chasing others and utilizing his raw power strengths more frequently. With proper timing of this sabotage, Huggy is capable of ending games on the spot thanks to his kit being very kill heavy.

No Pack: This sabotage disables the grabpacks of all the survivors, forcing them to either wait out a timer or interact with each other to fix them early. This is essentially three sabotages in one since no grabpacks means no puzzles are being done, no doors can be closed, no one is being dragged out of the Wulag, and no hooks can be swung, making rolling the only option to avoid monsters. This tends to be the overall best sabotage in the game for the monsters, but Feeding Frenzy competes with it on Huggy specifically. It is without a doubt a major help in shoring up Huggy’s weaknesses temporarily, as it leads to more successful Charges and nothing to stop him from outpacing you outside of looping on specific areas of the map. This is made even better by survivors risking being together to repair grabpacks early, letting him get a double kill if he happens to run into them. Using this when most survivors are playing Wack-A-Wuggy in the Wulag also ruins revive attempts, buying Huggy more time to search for the last remaining survivors. Overall a very solid general option to help patch up Huggy, but it does compete with Feeding Frenzy for “best Huggy sabotage” since Feeding Frenzy makes Huggy incredibly scary to face.

Total Lockdown: This sabotage shuts all doors for a limited time, making the area a lot more claustrophobic. This sabotage allows Huggy to trap survivors in rooms with him and limits places to run, allowing him to secure kills easier. This is especially noticeable on Toy Factory. Overall, a nice sabotage for him, although it’s not as easy to use since it requires specific circumstances to warrant using it.

Shutdown: This sabotage disables the puzzle pillars and requires survivors to locate one of two generators on the map in order to restore power to them. This is helpful for Huggy since he can use the Wuggy Sentry to alert him of generator tampering while guaranteeing no progress is being made on the puzzles while doing so. This also allows him to control where survivors are going, allowing him to commit a massacre if he finds a group of them together at a generator. Overall, a solid sabotage for him, as it allows him to force survivors to specific parts of the map that can be exploitable.

No Escape: This sabotage disables hooks, doors, and opens up lockers, severely limiting survivor escape option from the monster. This is pretty much No Pack, but worse. It obviously benefits Huggy for most of the same reasons as No Pack, but No Pack guarantees puzzles aren’t progressing and survivors aren't being revived during the sabotage duration. Overall, good perk, but just use No Pack, as it completely outclasses this one.
Performance
Toy Factory

On Toy Factory, Huggy Wuggy is a difficult monster to operate with compared to Mommy Long Legs and Boxy Boo. This is primarily due to the map being very claustrophobic and tight, which can make Charging rather difficult. The best chances Huggy has at landing Charges are on catwalks and inside the buildings on the map. There are also a LOT of low ceilings, hooks, and doors that can be shut, which can restrict Huggy's movement options severely. The Wuggy Sentries perform arguably better on this map than on Theater since the lack of space is more likely to force survivors to get into their range and alert Huggy, but is worse overall than in Theater since Huggy himself is limited in movement, which can make traversing to where the Wuggy is screaming at more difficult.

The primary reason Huggy has trouble on this map is due to the combination of multiple hazards to impede him and his abilities during chases and his own mobility problems, as previously stated. The map's layout works against Huggy's kit and exasperates his mobility problems enough to where he will most likely have trouble performing his role. Similar to survivors, his jump cannot get him over these obstacles, whereas Mommy's grapple and Boxy's jumps can allow them to shortcut effectively. In terms of perks that are good for Huggy on this map, Feeding Frenzy and No Pack are universally good on him, while Total Lockdown is really nice on this map due to the amount of doors present, allowing him to easily pin survivors and finish them off with little to no effort. The other perks mentioned in the perks section, while good, are not AS beneficial for Huggy here.

Theater

In contrast to Toy Factory, Theater is a much more hospitable map for Huggy to play in, as the map is a lot more open and there's less doors to impede him. He shines in the main lobby, upper floors, and in the middle areas of the map since they have the most space and often contain entrances he can camp with the Wuggy Sentries to the lower parts of the map. While on the topic of that, Huggy doesn't do too well in the basement of the map where two puzzle pillars and the pipe are at due to multiple doors that force him into low ceiling spots to bypass or completely shut him down if closed on him, as well as a hook he has completely no way to get around without using his Charge to get around the pit quicker than normal.

The perks that are recommended for Huggy are all solid picks on this map, but Total Lockdown is not as effective as it is in Toy Factory since there's less doors that straight up trap players. Shutdown is a lot stronger here than in Toy Factory since the generator locations are super easy for him to reach and can let him go to town on survivors attempting to fix gens. The Feeding Frenzy strategy is a bit more effective on this map since Huggy's movement is not as hampered here than it is on Toy Factory, making it easier for him to get multiple Wulag victims in succession.
Closing
Huggy Wuggy is a relatively simple character to play when you first see him. He is a brute styled character who throws stealth out the window in favor of murdering survivors as fast as he can, fitting for his character depiction in the base game. In exchange for the raw power he has, he has the worst mobility and tracking ability of the monsters currently available. As a result of these traits, Huggy is deceptively challenging to play with on the same level as Mommy Long Legs, Survivors, and Boxy Boo since the mobility difference between them is a big reason as to why the two monsters are considered superior to him overall despite his power. However, don't let that fool you into thinking Huggy is a pushover, as a well played Huggy can still wreck havoc on survivors, especially on Theater, where he is at his strongest. Underestimate him, and he's squeeze you until you pop!

If you have made it this far in the guide, then I thank you for giving this guide a read, and hopefully this helps out your Huggy Wuggy gameplay! Have a good day, and I'll be back with another monster guide later!
