Downloading CC/Mods
When I first got introduced to sims mods, I instantly got overwhelmed with the process. There are numerous videos on how to download mods, but for me, I found this video most helpful, especially since I had no basic knowledge of modding.
itsmeTroi is super detailed and really holds your hand through the process, and even suggests some mods for you. (I personally did not do this, they just didn't spark my interest,I just followed her method with mods of my choosing)

Important Notes/Tips regarding mods:
**Some of these tips and such might be mentioned in the video already, but I figure I would list them
  • Very obvious, but make sure you PIN your sims mod folder, I personally pin it to the start screen so I have easy access to it. I recommend you do this as well, especially when you're exploring/downloading numerous mods at a time.
  • Organize your mods, It will be such a life saver. A lot of my mods and cc are made by the same person, so It makes it way easier to just put them in a folder with the creator's name on it
  • Make a test folder. ESPECIALLY if you are downloading numerous clothing/furniture mods. I didn't think I would make one at first, but once I came into issues with certain mods and had NO IDEA where it was in my list of mods, I decided to make the test folder. I have it listed as 00_Test because then it will show up at the very top above the rest of my folders.
  • You don't have to do this, but I did. But make a Google Drive folder titled Sims4MODS to store all your cc. I have files on files of sims cc. Sometimes if I want to remove cc temporarily, or just store them for later use, I just transfer them over to my google drive.
  • **If you download a bunch of cc like I do,make sure to do it one folder at a time, or else you'll be waiting FOREVER**
  • Make sure your cc/mods are no more than a file deep, especially if its a tscript gameplay mod, I usually take my tscripts and leave them open at the bottom of all my CC/Mod Folders.
Where to get Mods?
Seems like a stupid question, but I consider it an important one:
  • Where do I get Sims 4 Mods?
  • Where are the best places to get mods?
  • Are there any mod sites more reliable than others?

These sites are personally my favorite places to look for mods: Tumblr and Patreon
Patreon originally had me nervous, but there are lots of people who upload free cc on their Patreon, you don't have to sub to their tiers, and most creators give you the ability to follow them. All you have to do is filter the tier to public.

Tumblr is really nice for many reasons, most users that I follow on Tumblr have loads of inspiration that you can use for your own sims, they have look books to show off their flashy sims, cc finds, and hopefully a link to their Patreon, they even have links of their CC finds as well.

The Sims Resource is another site you can use, but I personally do not. A lot of the cc on there doesn't 100% work, I even have cc from TSR that is no longer in my folders? That's an entirely different issue though.(Basically, I'm saying I don't trust TSR 100% of the time)

My Personal Faves
if you have a specific aesthetic that you are looking for, it is fairly simple to just search for it in the search bar, (although a lot of cc creators I follow are more into the pastels and the Y2k looks. I had to search FOREVER to find more gothic looking cc)

My Patreon Memberships

**As I mentioned, you 100% do not have to pay for a membership for any of the creators I'm listing, they do have CC that is 100% free, however if you DO like their cc enough, I do recommend getting a membership to not only support their work, but to get cute cc exclusive to members**

Hydrangea Chainsaw[www.patreon.com]

Lots of little cute interior that will really make your sims home more lively. They have lots of different aesthetics from Fairycore, to modern kawaii, to otherworldy witchy wonderlands.
(I personally really like their Halloween cc and all the themed sets, especially the Cozy Set )

I really love CAS, but I HATE base game hairstyles, Sunivaa thankfully has blessed everyone with a solution, Unlike other CC creators I use, this one is strictly hair, they also have the option to download a specific hairstyle without bangs or with accessories, so you can really mix and match, they also have hair for kids and toddlers which I personally love

Belaloallure[www.patreon.com]

Because of the mods I use, I feel like I have to have a really diverse wardrobe, I really like this creator when remodeling a lot of my townies, I really like a lot of the high fashion sets that they have and a lot of the clothes you can mix and match without any issues

SIXAM CC[www.patreon.com]

No matter what mods or what aesthetic you are going for in a build, I will always say to get something of SIXAM when building. My personal favorite is Gothic Windows and Doors and Princess and Vampire Kids Bedroom. It blends so perfectly with base game so it doesnt take away much visually, in fact I think their cc adds more character that should already be in base game.

OTHER NOTABLE CREATORS
Mechtasims[www.patreon.com]
Pralinesims[www.patreon.com]
Dogsill[www.patreon.com]
Serenity[www.patreon.com]
LeoSims[www.patreon.com]

There are obviously so much more, but I just wanted to list the ones that I primarily use. I hope this helps. If you have any questions at all feel free to leave comments/additional info that you feel I left out.Happy Modding <3

Images inserted are a but dated, but they still are valid. Mostly just to give you all a visual example
