Easy Way to Play MW2 MP in 2024 (Includes Community Servers)

If you've found yourself playing newer FPS games and missing the old days when you could play on dedicated servers with noobtoobs disabled and camping punished, this is the guide for you.

Since Activision cracked down on I W 4 X, alterware has taken over, I've updated the guide accordingly

Yep, your eyes don't deceive you. I'll be teaching you a very easy way to set up this miraculous portal to the past.

So what if the game was unbalanced and the graphics sucked? It's fast, it's fun, and you get to own noobs like it's 2008 all over again.


No need to edit folders and download .dll files. Just a single launcher that'll update the game on its own whenever needed.

What You Actually Need

You'll ideally want to own the game on Steam.

If you used to own the game but can't find your damned disk, or you don't remember your old Steam account, then the launcher website also provides a full download. It's not illegal to download a copy of the game if you technically own it.

Other things you'll need:

• A torrent client to download the launcher COMPLETELY LEGALLY (Try to avoid bittorrent or utorrent if you value your privacy) don't even need this anymore
  
• A browser to access the launcher's website
  
• Internet connection
  
• Good manners that keep you from using the Barrett, ACR or One Man Army

The Actual Guide

First of all, if you have the game installed, make sure to change your language to English. Otherwise, just head on over to https://forum.alterware.dev and click the "Download Now" button.

Just get the executable, put it in your mw2 folder.

At first launch, the executable will give you the option to download DLC maps, too.
