Locked Height for New Perspective
By Lawh
In this guide I will show you how to get a locked close 3rd person perspective for Kenshi. Since I cannot create a mod directly, I think this is the next best thing.

!PROBLEM!
- The only issue I have come to face, is when you get new people to join your squad, the camera resets.

This guide allows you to move your camera around, and attach it to your characters, look in all directions, but it will not allow you to get an overview perspective from anywhere else except moving the camera or your character to a high place. Personally, it feels amazing traversing the city streets like you're actually there.

- First load or start a game.
- Set the camera height to what you want it to be using the mouse scroll wheel or the keyboard buttons.
- Make sure all the settings of the game are to your liking.
- Save and close the whole game.

- Open up a file called "settings.cfg" in your main Kenshi directory.
- Set "camera zoom" to 0.
- Save the file and close it.

- Right click the file, and go to properties.
- Set the file as read only by ticking the box. Apply this change.

- Once you reload the game, you will no longer be able to move the camera up and down.

This should give you a different perspective on the game.

You can try to set camera movement to 0 as well to only be able to move the camera using characters, but this is a little risky, since it's possible to get stuck in some instances.

I use a mod I made called "No Map" that goes well with this. You can get lost and need to look at the details in the game. Here is that link:

With these two things, you will find yourself relying on the appearance of your surroundings, or in which direction the sun is. You can get lost in the desert or lose sight of a town you swear you were just next to if you're not careful. It forces you to actually feel your surroundings rather than have them scroll by as a very low priority. Biomes become incredible. The map truly get's it's worth through these two tricks.

This is very good, Lawh. Using it with 0 camera movement, as well as the no map. Cleared out all the movement hotkeys so the camera auto fallows who ever I have selected. Just have a hot key toggle to activate Rotate Camera. Edge Scrolling helps here and there.

Nothing is perfect in life. But this really brings out the game.

I haven't found it myself. What you can do is place the messages portion of the UI outside of the screen so that you won't get notified about anything. I have been meaning to do this since forever as a UI mod. Maybe you can make one.

I'm curently looking to tweak some "MAX_HEIGHT Camera value " to reduce it instead of locking but nothing found yet.
For the -No Map- i've take the choice of keeping it but remove the orientation and location member.
I really need to find the value to limit distance of discovery
