How fast do melee weapons swing, and what do the attacks chain into

Basic Idea
Weapon swings have two parts: a wind up and a swing animation. The minimum time to go from one swing and start the windup of the next, would just be the minimum windup time + "Next Swing Window" for the attack. These will be the best case attack times, the "minimum" hold time to finish that attack

Certain swings will be X.2 to denote they're part of X attack, but with a different windup. If a value is omitted from the table, it doesnt exist. A good example is Catachan Mk IV "Devil's Claw" Sword which omits Weapon Special timing on Third Set, which means you cant use weapon special after L3 until after the animation fully finishes but you can use weapon special on L1/2 part way through the attack animations. Other swings might have unlisted heavies, those would be attacks that have not only a separate windup profile but a new attack chain profile as well.

General structure for windup sets:
First Set Windup (To indicate the windup animation used that would lead into one a heavy or light) -> L1 (0s, minimum hold time) or H1 (0.6s)
L1 = Light 1
H1 = Heavy 1
PA = Push Attack

as far as use cases, they usually go to second or third set, so they can be used to skip first set at the end of a combo, or skip to second or third set at the beginning

@DLCI yeah, so id say if you care to use them then best way would be to just look for when the special attack in the table is faster than the light attack in a set. tac axe mark 4 for example has a faster special attack after third light than going back to first light. as far as using them to skip part of combos:

tac axe mark 2:
special attack 1 (SA1) goes into first set (0.5s) or SA2 (0.65s).
SA2 goes into second set (0.4s) or SA1 (0.5s)
Both have instant block cancel.

tac axe mark 4:
SA1 goes into second set (0.35s) or SA2 (0.45s) with a block cancel of 0.83s
SA2 goes into second set too (0.35s), or SA3 (0.35s) with a block cancel of 0.83s
SA3 goes into first set (0.5s) or SA1 (0.9s) but has a block cancel of 0s

tac axe mark 7:
SA 1 goes into third set (0.5s) or SA2 (0.5s)
SA 2 goes into second set (0.5s) or SA1 (0.75s)
Both have instant block cancel

This is a lot of useful information! :steamthumbsup:

I saw that you didn't include anything about tactical-axe special attack chains yet.

Both the MK II and MK VII get a 2 hit special attack chain, and the MK IV gets a 3 hit special attack chain. I have observed that several attacks in all of these special-chains are capable of hit-cancelling into or from another swing, so I was hoping you knew the best way to weave these into an attack chain. Oh well. :steamsad:
