Microsoft Wingdings Font (Wingdings 1-3)
By That Wun Wabbit
It's a little known MS Word font you can use..at least on your desktop. The version I reference is Miscrosoft Word 2010.
You can type Wingdings in programs such as Paint.net using them for captions on digital photos, etc. You can also take screenshots of what you're working on in MS Word and upload what you typed as a picture as it is mostly for visual appeal.

And I'd like to hug the person who made the first guide on it cause they rock! We must fill the world with...Wingdings!
Credit to Microsoft Word for Wingdings Font I do not claim it as my own, I simply teach people how to use it here!!!

Intro
I strongly recommend taking the sets of characters and typing them into a blank MS Word document on your computer. That way, you can drag, pick and choose what to put into similar sets and simply copy and paste what you need!! [CTRL+C=copy] [CTRL+V=paste]

Okay, first of all scroll down to the Ws in your MS Word font bank...if they are alphabetized.

  • You can choose Wingdings, Wingdings 2, or Wingdings 3

  • I recommend a large font from 20 to 36, 48, or 72.
It makes the characters so much more visible! The examples I give are in 24-pt and up.

  • You can also change the font color, for additional visibility and flair!

This guide will show you left to right which characters you get from each with and without pressing Shift.
  • If the pictures do not load, click on the little box with an X in it and hope it loads again, OR just right-click to reload this page again.

Here is how to read the character sets (again, Excel not working properly, will figure something out)
I break up each set (shift or no shift) into 4 rows of keys on your keyboard.
Ex. Row #1:
`1234567890-= Can also be read as ~!@#$%^&*()_+
Each symbol below the set is the same set of keys in Wingding 1-3 from left to right.
For example the number 4 (in Wingdings 1 font) gives the stack of 3 pages symbol normally, and by pressing the shift key and the number 4 you get a bell symbol.
All Wingdings
This is everything from every set. This is what you should store, duplicate and rearrange on your desktop. As you can see, there are many similar symbols, but without actually being able to type them on Steam, the best way to keep track of them is through a raw MS Word Document

This is everything from every Wingding set, with 2 lines for each bulleted item.
Left to right, top to bottom:
  • Wingding 1
  • Wingding 1 (pressing Shift)
  • Wingding 2
  • Wingding 2 (pressing Shift)
  • Wingding 3
  • Wingding 3 (pressing Shift)
Wingdings Character and Symbol sets
Conclusion
Again, I strongly recommend just typing them into a document on your desktop and keeping them there to copy and paste into other situations. That way, you don't have to remember which key types what....especially since there are so many to keep track of it would be messy for me to try and organize them better without making a gigantic list you would have to read then copy anyway!

For example, there are some cool flowers in Wingdings 1 Shift font.
That will be in the 2nd, or qwertyuiop[]\ row of your keyboard.

This way you can just punch all the keys and pick out what you like.
Have fun!!!

If you're using search, search for character map. Otherwise, the do start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> character map, or if you want to go there directly, C:\Windows\System32\charmap.exe

now that's interesting. Well after you mentioned it i went to Start -> search accessories....
But it opened up the browser tab and I can't remember if that actually went anywhere or tapped out after that

Windows also has a character map in accessories -> system tools where you can browse all the characters in a font and copy them.
