"Fancy stuff:
filesystem: f2fs, zstd compressed, Home dir encrypted with fscrypt

bootloader: Systemd boot. It's simply the best bootloader if you don't plan on dual booting.

GPU: I have resizable bar enabled/ SAM enabled.

Riced shell: Oh My Zsh. Using the "bira" theme and a few plugins which come bundled with Oh My Zsh.

Fedora also has vanilla packages. Sadly it's point release, shitty corporate decisions lead to mesa shipping without h264/h265 and no AUR is a drawback if needed

For me it's as simple as it's the only one to not break itself with updates, and feels the most "vanilla" of all the distros. I only use AUR for like 3 packages. Like you say no adding a bunch of repos just yay -S whatever and update every week, the maintainer's pkgbuilds do all the work. Stays running error free for years. Arch is synonymous with Linux to me

I'm sorry. But Arch just happens to have the biggest selection of packages (even when excluding the AUR), just works once set up, is very up to date. Also no corporate garbage. Fedora and Opensuse need special repos just to get h264/h265 support. Arch just compiles Mesa with support for everything out of the box

I've given up on anything not Arch(based)
BASED

oh. Just noticed people commented here… half a year ago. If anyone for whatever reason cares what I (some stranger) run. I use CachyOS (just performance optimized Arch) with KDE. I've given up on anything not Arch(based) and anything not KDE

There was like 10 months between this post and yours. I do remember them saying they use openSUSE Tumbleweed too, presumably they switched sometime between December 2022 and September 2023. Since it's been another 9 months roughly, who knows if they've switched again to something else.
