Far Cry 64 bits with working steamoverlay + in-game fixes
By Django
Recently I decided to try rage on its 64bit version and I was surprised to se that even on 64 bits the steamoverlay was still present, so I started to test how to make it work with Far Cry 1 on its 64 bits version, and I made it.

Part 1 - Introduction
Recently I decided to try rage on its 64bit version and I was surprised to se that even on 64 bits the steamoverlay was still present, so I started to test how to make it work with Far Cry 1 on its 64 bits version, and I made it.

Also since some people says steam updates their games all the time ans silent did and awesome work as allways. I have added SilentPatch for Far Cry to this guide to have the definitive edition.
Part 3 - Install game patches
First of all, install farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe first, when it asks you for game install folder choose the steam game folder:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\common\FarCry

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Now install farcry_amd64_ecu.exe and when it ask you select the same game folder as the previous step:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\common\FarCry

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

You don´t have to install farcry_amd64_ecu.exe if you want, but its recomended since the Exclusive Content patch provides higher res textures, better foliage, farther draw distance, new locations and explosive areas in the game, and new multi player levels that are only available in the 64 bit version.

The multi player levels aren't that important because the versions numbers for the latest 32 bit patch don't match the latest 64 bit patch and, more importantly, nobody plays this game online anymore.
Part 4 - Install SilentPatch for Far Cry and setting game to boot 64bit exe
Go to your game folder located at:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\common\FarCry

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Unzip both Bin32 and Bin64 folders and you are done

Unzip steam_api.dll and steam_api64.dll from steam_api.zip inside far cry folder

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\common\FarCry <- extract the contents here

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

If you want to boot the game on 64bit mode just right clic the game on steam and select launch comandlines and add "-64bit" to it (without the "")

Top 3 files need permission? Can't download them. Hoping this fix the graphics looking like I have a computer from 2005, even on Very High settings. Anybody recommend a different fix if not?

It runs out of the box on Linux (steam/proton) without the 64-bit patch.

This is mod change language ? I have steam game, but I replaced the language and sound packages manually with the original (Russian) localization.

@Django Thanks for all those tips. After I install the amd64 upgrade, all the doors in game became auto-opened when you getting close, and I don't like this tweak. I remember the original game you have to press action key to open doors. how may I rollback this functionality to the original.

BRO BIKE - Look at the mountain side just above the P90 top, and see the trees are much more visaible at the 64-bit picture. Thats one of the effects of 64-bit.. You see more details at longer distance.
