Disable "Background Application Max Frame Rate" in NVIDIA Control Panel!
Από mgabor
Background Application Max Frame Rate, a very useful option found in the NVIDIA Control Panel, doesn't work with this game. Because of the overlay the application thinks it's constantly in the background, and so will apply the framerate limit that you set in your global settings.

Make sure to set this to "Off" when playing!

Turn it off in the Portal RTX program settings within Nvidia Control Panel. Don't turn it off within Global Settings.

Ah I see, understandable.

I like to have it globally on and turn it off for stuff that doesn't work properly with it.

Being able to just alt tab out of something to give the GPU a break while I do something else temporarily is very useful. Especially since some games will happily render the pause screen at 1500 FPS otherwise.

You know you can set it for just an individual program, right? That's what the "program settings" are for.
