Tips to fix HP Reverb G2 hang, freeze, lag, stutters
By SecretSW
Playing with the Reverb G2 and got performance issues or glitches? Let me present you some steps that may help. Each one of them brought a significant improvement for me.

1. Hangs? Crashes? Sound switches from headset to speakers and back? Check your cable. Rev.1 cables (with a smaller box without the power button) have problems which are highly likely to appear with AMD processors. If you have a rev.1 cable, replace with rev.2 (with button).
2. Lags? Stutters? Bad picture quality? Switch from SteamVR to OpenXR. WMR/SteamVR compatibility issues may kill performance. OpenXR improves overall performance greatly and also improves picture clarity. Here's a guide on how to do this: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/295123-openxr-guide-for-wmr-headsets/
3. Stutters? Performance still significantly lower than without VR? VR is seemingly more memory consuming than non-VR. For high graphics fidelity 32 Gb RAM is recommended. If upgrading RAM is not an option for you, lower draw distance related settings, including preload radius and forest density. You may leave other settings as they are.
4. Freezes + massive impact on load times I strongly recommend using a fast SSD for storing the game's directory. This may remove some small freezes and massively improve all load times - from minutes to tens of seconds at most.
