Persona 5 Royal: Social Stats overview

This guide aims to list what the social stats are used for in P5R, and how to increase these stats throughout the game.

Introduction

In Persona 5 Royal (P5R) there are 5 social stats that the player uses in the day-to-day life segments of the game. These are Knowledge, Guts, Proficiency, Kindness and Charm. These stats are required for certain aspects of the game, such as starting and developing confidants, acing school examinations, and obtaining some achievements. This guide will break down:

Some important things to note is that a few activities will overlap over sections as they increase multiple social stats. Also, with some of the methods the amount of notes gained from them can change over time - such as the movies offering 3 notes the first time it is watched, but only one note if you watch it again. Finally, some of the activities mentioned below will not be available from the start, they may need either story progression or high enough social stats to unlock.

Knowledge

Levels of Knowledge
Oblivious, Learned, Scholary, Encyclopedic, Erudite


Required for

• Scholary knowledge for starting the Priestess confidant
  
• Encyclopedic knowledge for developing the Justice confidant
  
• Erudite knowledge for developing the Star confidant
  
• Learned knowledge+ for the different Big Bang Burger challenges
  
• Scholary knowledge+ to do well on your exams
  
• Erudite Knowledge to reach the top place in the examination score board
  
  Ways to obtain points in knowledge
  • Complete crosswords in Leblanc - 2 notes This activity does not consume time!
    
    
  • Answering questions in class correctly - 1 note
    
    
  • Studying in the library - 1 note on normal days, 2 notes if it is raining; It is important to note that during the first palace studying in the library will not be as effective for knowledge if it is busy, but will grant an extra point for Guts
    
    
  • Studying at Leblanc - 1 note on normal days, 2 notes if it is raining
    
    
  • Studying at the diner - Same as above, but can also increase other social stats as well
    
    
  • Studying with school friends during exam periods - 3 notes; can also obtain confidant points with who you are studying with
    
    
  • Reading books that boost knowledge - 3 notes; The books are The Great Thief, Medjed Menace, Wise man's Words
    
    
  • watching movies at the theatre - 3 notes; The movies are Back to the Ninja, Soraemon
    
    
  • Working at the Crossroads bar and speak with the red faced man - 2 notes
    
    
  • Successfully completing the Big Bang Burger Challenges - notes gained are 1, 2 and 3 notes respective to each challenge
    
    
  • Spend time with the Star confidant - 1 note
    
    
  • After unlocking rank 1 + 5 of the Temperance confidant, You will occasionally get the chance to choose what to do during lessons, if you continue to study/listen in class - 2 notes

Guts

Levels of Guts
Milquetoast, Bold, Staunch, Dauntless, Lionhearted

• Bold guts for starting the Death confidant

• Empathetic kindness for working at the Crossroads bar

• Feeding the plant at Leblanc every couple of weeks - 1, 2 or 3 notes depending on the plant food used, This activity does not take up time
  
  
• Cleaning up in Leblanc - 1 note; can gain a confidant point if the Heirophant confidant is present
  
  
• Watching movies at the theatre - 3 notes; the movies are The Cake Knight Rises, Mes Miserables, Clean Hard, The Duhvengers, Popo’s Nest, The Good Father
  
  
• Watching movies at home - 2 or 3 notes; the movies are Wraith, ICU
  
  
• Reading books that increase kindness - 3 notes; the books are Zorro, The Outlaw, The Illusory Popes, Buchiko’s Story, Call Me Chief
