100% Achievement guide for Persona 5 Royal

This is a guide on how to obtain all of the achievements.
NOTE THIS GUIDE CONTAINS SPOILERS

Introduction

Approximate amount of time to obtain every achievements:100+ hours. If you decides to skip the dialogue and cutscenes for whatever reason you'll save a lot of time.

Number of missable achievements: Every achievement can be earned in a single playthrough, as long as you work towards the 'true' ending - which you are given more than enough time to achieve. Check 'The Path Chosen' for the requirements

Does difficulty affect achievements?: No, there are no achievements related to the difficulty in the game.

Minimum Playthroughs:1

One thing you'll need to focus on from the start is increasing your five social stats for Pure Perfection but in case you don't get this on your first playthrough, the progress is carried over into New Game Plus.

Story Achievement

The following achievements are all story-related and so they are all unmissable, even if you enter the bad ending after the Casino palace

Castle of Lust: Seized
Completed the castle Palace.
The Castle Palace is the very first dungeon, cannot be missed.

Museum of Vanity: Repossessed
Completed the museum Palace.
The Museum Palace is the second dungeon, cannot be missed.

Bank of Gluttony: Cleaned Out
Completed the bank Palace.
The Bank Palace is the third dungeon, cannot be missed.

Pyramid of Wrath: Plundered
Completed the pyramid Palace.
The Pyramid Palace is the fourth dungeon, cannot be missed.

Spaceport of Greed: Obliterated
Completed the spaceport Palace.
The Spaceport Palace is the fifth dungeon, cannot be missed.

Casino of Jealousy: Bankrupted
Completed the casino Palace.
The Casino Palace is the sixth dungeon, cannot be missed.

Spirit of Rebellion
Obtained Arsène.
This is the first achievement you’ll earn in the game. So don't worry about it

Phantom Thieves: Assemble!
Established your own squad of thieves.
Cannot be missed.

One Step at a Time
Completed a Mementos request.
Requests are optional quests given throughout the game most being automatically added to your requests list. Some are missable if you don't read a certain text message by Mishima, while others are tied to confidant ranks. Simply complete one request and you'll get unlock the achievement.

You'd Better Hang On!
Used the grappling hook.
Cannot be missed.

Awakening the Phantom Thieves
Evolved a party member's Persona.
After increasing confidant to rank 10, each party member will transform personas once into their Ultimate Persona. In the third semester, each party member at rank 10 confidant will undergo another transformation. You should get this on 1/10 with Morgana.
The requirements for each third persona is as follows:

Morgana	Confidant Rank 10 (automatic), then watch the mandatory story scene on 1/10.
Ryuji Sakamoto	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with him in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards.
Ann TakamakI	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with her in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards.
Yusuke Kitagawa	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with him in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards.
Makoto Niijima	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with her in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards.
Futaba Sakura	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with her in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards.
Haru Okumura	Confidant Rank 10, then hang out with her in the afternoons from 1/13 onwards
Kasumi Yoshizawa	Confidant Rank MAX, then on the afternoon of 2/2, accept her invite that she will send you via SMS
Goro Akechi	During Justice Rank 7, for the sixth choice, pick 3: "You are my rival". During Justice Rank 8, you will need to win against him in the battle during this rank-up event. Then, for the eighth choice, pick 1: "I'll take it." Confidant Rank 10, then reach Akechi’s event in Cruiser Palace. When in bed, about to sleep on the night this happens, pick 2: “Fulfill Akechi’s Promise”. On the evening of 2/2, for the third choice, pick the first option.

The achievement will unlock on 1/10 with the scene with Morgana. The remaining third personas are optional.

Missable story achievements

To guarantee you get all of them, you need to make sure you're on the path to Royal's True Ending. Check 'The Path Chosen' for the requirements.

Cruiser of Pride: Capsized
Completed the cruise ship Palace.
The Cruiser Palace is the seventh dungeon, It can be missed if you pick the bad ending after the Casino Palace.

The Thorough Trickster
Completed Mementos.
Mementos Depths is the eighth dungeon, It can be missed if you pick the bad ending after the Casino Palace. If you're on the path to the true ending then you will be asked to enter Mementos on 12/24 to finish another dungeon that functions a lot like a palace. This dungeon is at the very bottom of Mementos, so if you haven't been clearing areas of Mementos during your free time then you'll have to do all 60+ floors in one go.

All floors of Mementos will be available to the player following the scenes taking place after the Cruiser Palace deadline. Each Path is unlocked after the deadline is reached for the palaces in the game, as follows:

After reaching the last area in the Path of Sheriruth on 12/24, enter a door that was previously locked and enter the Path of Iweleth. After crossing through this path, you will need to complete two dungeons in order:

• Mementos Depths, the world’s Palace.
  
• Qliphoth World.

True Confidence
Maxed out one of your Confidants.
Max any confidant. Unmissable if pursuing the true endings due to story-confidants.

Take Back the Future
Completed every Palace.
Complete the Laboratory Palace.

The Path Chosen

The Path Chosen
Watched the ending.
Story related. Personal 5 Royal has six main endings that lead to the credits, not counting the Palace bad endings that just reset to a week earlier. As the Palace bad endings do not lead to the credits and just reset to a week earlier, this achievement is not missable. The endings are as follows:

• Palace bad endings (fail to meet any Palace requirements by the deadline, reversible)
  
• Persona 5 bad ending 1
  
• Persona 5 bad ending 2
  
• Persona 5 true ending
  
• Persona 5 Royal bad ending 1
  
• Persona 5 Royal bad ending 2
  
• Persona 5 Royal true ending

Any of the endings except for the first three in this list will unlock the achievement. It is highly recommended that you attain Persona 5 Royal’s true ending as there are at least two other achievements tied to the new content added in Persona 5 Royal's third semester, and ending the game prematurely will require a second playthrough to get all achievements. The requirements for each ending are as follows:

Palace bad endings (does not earn any achievement)

During any Palace period:

• Fail to meet the requirements of a Palace before the deadline.
  
• You will be prompted to start again from one week prior, resetting any progress you made in those days.

For Persona 5 bad ending 1 (does not earn any achievement)

11/19, after finishing Casino Palace:

• Agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the third option to the second question that you are asked.

For Persona 5 bad ending 2 (does not earn any achievement)

Requirements before 11/17:

• Councillor Confidant rank 9 not achieved.
  
• 11/19: Do not agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the first or second option to the second question that you are asked.
  
• 12/24: Agree to the deal offered to you. Choose the second option when a thought bubble is presented with an offer.

For Persona 5 true ending (earns this achievement, but you will miss out on achievements associated with the true ending)

Requirements before 11/17:

• Councillor Confidant rank 9 not achieved.
  
• 11/19: Do not agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the first or second option to the second question that you are asked.
  
• 12/24: Agree to the deal offered to you. Choose the first option when a thought bubble is presented with an offer.

For Persona 5 Royal bad ending 1 (earns this achievement, but you will miss out on achievements associated with the true ending)

Requirements before 11/17:

  Say you will agree to the deal. This involves picking the second option to the third question that you are asked.
  
• On the night of 2/2: In the scene after the above scene.
  Agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the second options in all the dialogue options for this scene.

For Persona 5 Royal true ending (this achievement and the achievements associated with the true ending)

Requirements before 11/17:

• Councillor Confidant rank 9 achieved. Rank 10 will happen automatically on 11/17.
  
• 11/19: Do not agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the his involves picking the first or second option to the second question that you are asked.
  
• 12/24:Do not agree to the deal offered to you. Choose the first option when a thought bubble is presented with an offer.
  
  Third semester:
  
• 1/9:Do not agree to the deal offered to you.
  
• Reach the new Laboratory Palace’s treasure.
  
  
• On the night of 2/2: During Akechi’s third persona conversation (if you met the requirements detailed in Awakening the Phantom Thieves):
  Say you will not agree to the deal. This involves picking the first option to the third question that you are asked.
  
  
• On the night of 2/2: In the scene after the above scene.
  Do not agree to the deal offered to you. This involves picking the first option in all the dialogue options for this scene.

Maxing Akechi will grant a few additional scenes to the ending, but not change the ending. You need to get him to Confidant Rank 8 by 11/17 to make this happen, and the final 2 ranks will happen automatically.

Reach confidant rank 5 with Kasumi. Technically this isn’t required to reach the true ending itself, it unlocks an extra scene within the ending. You have an entire extra month, and only need to reach rank 5 by 12/17.

Phantom Thief

Most of these are simple things the game gives you tutorials on and you will be guided into unlocking, with a few exceptions. The Velvet room unlocks are all story-based, so you'll get all the equipment you need eventually.

A Deadly Debut
Performed a Guillotine execution.
Fuse a persona with the guillotine in the Velvet Room.

Efficient Executioner
Performed a Group Guillotine execution.
Perform a group execution in the Velvet Room.This option is unlocked with Strength Confidant Rank 1, which becomes available as early as 5/18. Speak to Caroline and Justine in the Velvet Room and they will task you with completing fusion tasks in order to build your Confidant Rank with them. Once you reach Rank 1, Group Guillotine fusions will be unlocked.

I am Thou...
Obtained a Persona through negotiation.
Negotiate with a shadow until it joins you as a persona.

Tactical Teamwork
Performed a Baton Pass.
When the protagonist hits an enemy’s weakness, you can Baton Pass to another party member.

Let's Blow It Up
Defeated enemies via Disaster Shadow explosion.
Use a Disaster Shadow's explosion to kill another shadow. These are random but will appear often enough to make this achievement fairly easy. Whittle down the non-disaster enemies a bit first if you think the explosion won't kill.

Technician
Triggered a Technical.
The earliest and easiest way to do this is with your starting party members, Ann and Morgana. Use Ann’s fire skills on an enemy to give it the Burn status condition, then follow up with Morgana’s Wind skills to generate the technical damage.

Jose's Favorite Customer
Traded in flowers while in Mementos.
Buy something from Jose's shop with flowers at least once. He can be found in Mementos. A cutscene will play when you find the floor he's set up shop on and he will be marked on the map.

The Phantom Philatelist
Traded in stamps while in Mementos.
Buy something from Jose's store with stamps.

Talent Thief
Obtained a Skill Accessory from a Palace ruler.
Find all three Will Seeds in a palace and then let Jose fuse them into a charm.

Intensive Training
Used Incense on a Persona in Lockdown.
Use incense on a persona in lockdown in the Velvet Room. These are usually acquired by purchasing them.

The Purpose of a Thief
Obtained a Treasure Demon.
Get a treasure demon. Early Mementos floors on rainy days are excellent for hunting easy-to-knock down treasure demons.

It's Showtime!
Performed a Showtime attack.
Showtime attacks are unlocked at the start of the 3rd palace. The one given as an example doesn't count towards the achievement.

The Deviated Cognition
Encountered a deviation in Mementos.
Find a Mementos deviation. These are random, but if you visit and go through a lot of floors, you'll find a few eventually. This will unlock as soon as you enter a Deviated floor.

Success Built on Sacrifice
Performed a Gallows execution.
Use the gallows for fusion in the Velvet Room.

Accident-Prone
Performed an execution during a Fusion Alarm.
Perform an Alarm fusion in the Velvet Room. This unlocks after you secure the route to the treasure in the third palace.

A Grand Experiment
Performed an Electric Chair execution.
Use the Electric Chair in the Velvet Room. This option is unlocked upon entering the Velvet Room from 8/1 onwards.

The Search for Power
Completely changed the cognition of Mementos.
Max out one of Jose's Mementos cognition changes with stamps.

Unsurpassed Rebel
Conquered the Reaper.
Beat the Reaper. Stay on a floor of Mementos until he appears.

Misc

These are the achievements that didn't quite fit in the other sections. You can get them by playing around in the daily life segments.

Leblanc Buffer
Cleaned up in Leblanc.
Clean in Leblanc using the bathroom supplies downstairs.

Tokyo Tourist
Went to a hangout spot with someone.
Visit a hangout spot with a confidant. You'll unlock them as the story or confidant links progress, by accepting invitations, or by reading location books.

Punch That Clock!
Worked a part-time job.
Work any part-time job. There are job ad stands in the train station and underground mall you can apply from. Any job works, and you only have to do it once.

Batter Up!
Scored a hit at the batting cages.
Go to the batting cages in Yongen-Jaya near Leblanc. Just hit one ball, try at night if you aren't confident, as you're given more attempts then.

Getting the Vapors
Couldn't take the heat in the bathhouse.
Go to the bathhouse on a rainy day, stay in when it gets hot, and collapse from the heat. Morgana will tell you when the steam is particularly hot. Do it on 5/19.

Easy Money
Won the lottery.
Win the lottery. You can't really save/reload, but you can buy one every 7 days from Station Square, and it's a long game, so you'll eventually get this.

Going Against the Crane
Scored a prize in the crane game.
Win the crane game in Akihabara. You can attempt it once a day.

Trash Into Treasure
Sold old clothing at Furugi no Neuchi.
Sell sooty clothes at the thrift store in Kichijoji at least once.

Dartslinger
Played a game of darts.
Play darts at Penguin Sniper in Kichijoji.

A Hustler's Journey
Played a game of billiards.
Play billiards at Penguin Sniper in Kichijoji.

A Night in Kichijoji
Attended the jazz club.
Visit the jazz club. You have to reach Justice Confidant Rank 4 to unlock it.

A Serene Experience
Visited a temple.
Meditate at the temple in Kichijoji.

Professional Modification
Customized a gun.
Customize a gun. You need guts rank 4 and Hanged confidant rank 1 to do this at the airsoft shop.

Angler's Debut
Passed time at the fishing pond.
Use the fishing pond. Unlocks on Ryuji's 7/6 invite or by reading Fishpond Spotter. Catch a fish to unlock this.

Master of Akihabara
Ordered from the special menu at the maid café.
You have to spend at least 20,000 yen to unlock it, so it'll take at least five visits to get the special. You can find the Maid Cafe in Akihabara on 9/1.

Pure Perfection
Maxed out all social stats.
Maximize all of your social parameters in the game, including Knowledge, Guts, Charm, Kindness, and Proficiency.

A Most Studious Disguise
Scored the highest on your exams.
lace first in your class in any of the four exams. You're likely to get it in December, as you need max knowledge stat. You'll also need to get the exam questions right.

My Closest Partner
Entered a special relationship.
Enter a relationship with any of the romanceable confidants. There are ten female confidants in the game, with nearly all of them being able to be dated.

You want Joker to SPAM Myriad Truths and a party member that can decrease the Reaper's magic attack. You want to have someone casting debuffs on him (lower magic, lower attack, lower defense, etc) and buffing the party up. In my case I only could buff Joker because unlike Shin Megami Tensei, Persona has single ally target buffs, which is dumb (I beat SMT3 Nocturne before playing Persona 5 and SMT3 has a much better battle system). One of your allies should also focus on healing Joker's SP and the party's health.

TLDR
The way to win the battle at a low level is to spam higher level attacks like Myriad Truths but also making sure you aren't creamed by the high level death spells Reaper spams as well as making sure you cast buffs and debuffs every turn.

I also recommend fighting him on the Second Floor of Mementos, the first path. He may or may not be stronger on lower floors. Yes he is always Level 85, that will not change via floors. But his RNG of attack may be the factor because I lost to him the second time on the lower floors but I beat him on the original path.

YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL fighting him more than once tho because some consumables are not replaceable and you'll need some non-replaceable consumables to fight him. If he's casting Mamodoon way too much, you should die on purpose and try again after. Those sacrificial dolls are worth more than the money he drops FYI.

I'm one of the few 17%ers that got this one and i got it at Level 25

You need TONS of sacrificial dolls because he casts Mamodoon a lot, SP replenish items/accessories, the DLC Persona that has Myriad Truths, and some type of all-healer spell or item that restores the party to 100% health. You MUST also have some kinda magic resistance and some way to restore party members in case they die. A guide online said that curse/bless resistance helps but he used more elemental magic on my second run. I didn't beat him my second run so maybe the guide was right. You might want to put on accessories that nullify bless and curse.

You might need to fight The Reaper more than once since some of his attacks are RNG, meaning he'll use more attacks than he should randomly everytime you fight him... He doesn't behave the same every single battle.

Don't worry about that "You're are my rival." option. But did you chose "I accept." after the battle? if you didn't, it will lock out Akechi’s progress, and the ultimate persona will not be unlocked.

All the bad endings are decided by choices immediately before they happen. Akechi does not effect the endings (but you should still try to get him to rank 8, he will give you a few additional scenes to the ending, but not change the ending)
