100% Zest, an Epic Chef Achievement Guide

Hello! Welcome to my 100% achievement guide for Epic Chef. In addition to achievement descriptions, I will also be adding recommended dishes for nearly all of the tournament cooking battles to facilitate your completion of the "G.O.A.T. Cheese" achievement. I hope you find this guide useful and enjoy the ride!

Intro

I will be listing the achievements in a loose chronological order of when you can get them. You don't have to follow it completely, but I chose to progress the side quests and tournaments fully before progressing the main story to reduce confusion when side quests start to link with each other.

Some people end up having to catch up on 3 simultaneous side quests at a time which can get confusing and will also ultimately delay your main quest progression. All side quests are essential to continue with the bulk of the end game.

Obtain Birch


After your battle with the Mysterious Knight, you'll see an egg along the dirt path heading to town. Take this egg to an elderly couple (side quest), and progress that questline to hatch Birch. Birch will serve as your mount and mobile storage for the rest of the game.

Bureaucracy
Obtain the Cooking License (story)


Rookie Cutter
Win the Amateur Tournament


Make sure you enter and complete this mini-tournament booth (located beside the elderly couple) right after getting the license. I have not yet confirmed if this is a mandatory tournament for the story or if it is a missable achievement, but the booth disappears once you progress the story a little bit more.

Pump Up the Gem
Place the Blue gem in the Statue


As soon as you have access to the magic shop, buy the items on the counter. These items will be unavailable for a good chunk of the game until you progress the Witch's storyline. Once you've bought the gem, go up the stairs beside your villa and insert the blue gem in the statue. It will create a fountain that lets you charge your multiplier stats when you are wearing a swimsuit.

Groundskeeper
Buy some land for the first time


At certain points after moving along the main story, 3 expansion slots will open up for purchase around your villa. They show up as large wooden signs that you can interact with (hard to miss).

Use the Ancient Tamer for the first time (story)

Interact with the Mage in Deep Forest for the first time


If you are following my advice of progressing the side quests as they are made available, one of the places you can now explore is the Deep Forest near your villa. The Mage is east of the entrance. See the "Deep Forest Map" category for a map to use as a reference.

A Prize, Mother Cooker!
Buy a tournament reward


Defeating tournament league opponents will give you tokens to purchase rewards usually found near the tournament steward. You can identify them by the spatula icons on their heads. Items will glow/rotate around them to signify that they are available for purchase.

NOTE: Prioritize buying sauce unlock rewards from each league before you buy any cosmetics. Some of the sauces (Fungus sauce) are key to making your tournament life a lot easier.

You will have the chance to compete in various tournaments (Old Port, Culinarum, Nyarian, and Tiral of Fire) at certain points in the main story. You can't go to the higher tier of tournaments because they are story-locked (access to the area is locked). Once you have access to each tournament, you can complete them fully all the way to the Gold tier with the exception of the Culinarum league. You'll have to beat Anzashi before you can complete the Culinarum Gold tier.

Cryptonite
Solve the Crypt puzzle


One of the other side quests around the Restaurant/Bolton part of the story is the ancestral crypt just across from the Deep Forest entrance. Before you can access this, you have to progress the Witch/Infinigon questline to the point where the [/spoiler]shop is repaired[/spoiler]. Simply cook the dish types required at the appropriate point level (+50) and slot them in to unlock the achievement and a costume.

Run 'n' Gun
Hunt the Pangun


I suggest you progress the side quests to gain access to Panguns before you face Bolton since Pangun meat will help immensely.

Cull the Narim
Defeat Chef Bolton in Culinary Battle (story)


Recipe - This recipe wasn't ideal since I was still learning, but it got the job done.

Mid Game (2/2)

Sing A Song of Silkspence
Defeat the Tenor Spider (story)


You will need 30 restaurant prestige stars before the questline for this achievement becomes available. This is typically achieved by having strong reviews through your dishes AND through winning tournament battles (going up in tier). You don't have to go too crazy with modifying your restaurant menu. Just focus your efforts on clearing the tournaments to earn your stars because it's wasteful to constantly change your menu just to get a small bump in prestige. I prefer modifying menu items after major changes to available ingredients. Aim for 30 stars for now.

Unlocking Spiders is another major turning point in the story. Spiders provide one of the strongest ingredient resources with good stats both refined and unrefined. Just like with Bolton and the Panguns, I strongly suggest unlocking Spiders before you fight the next boss -- Anzashi.

Feline Hungry
Defeat Chef Anzhashi in Culinary Battle

Specific Ingredients

According to the wiki, the slot in which you place the specific ingredient will determine the name of the dish (Braised Uni Steak/Venom Glaze/Fiery Omelette). To be on the safe side, I suggest always using the Dragon Egg(s) on the first slot until you get the achievement. It should be fine for the other ingredients since they're easier to restock. I personally got the Venom Glaze and Fiery Omelette achievement during story battles with the recipes I used and listed for the guide.

New outfits are unlocked for completing quests/tournaments. Cycle and wear them all at changing rooms (your bathroom, blue tent near your fountain, and the blue tent on the beach).

Have Some Decorum
Increase the Restaurant Decor Score to 500 or more


Additional restaurant decor crafting recipes can be unlocked by:

• Buying them from Jesus
  
• Beating the Gold tier of each tournament

Craft and place these in your restaurant and the achievement unlocks somewhat early.

I Squid You Not
Catch a King Squid


King Squid can be caught only once you've unlocked Divine Bait.

Stat's The Way to Do It
Have the MAX modifier active for all Zest's Skills at the same time


On the top left of your screen are 3 bars related to Vigor, Spirit, and Sophistication. Simply let them charge all the way to x5 to get the achievement. Here are some of the various activities that charge your bars:

• Chat w/ elderly couple: Spirit
  
• Sit near magic shop: Spirit
  
• Chat w/ Witch: all 3
  
• Plant seeds/Fish: Spirit
  
• Chop Trees: Vigor (Apple is +6/ea and Erwin is +9/ea)

• Chill in the fountain (requires blue gem inserted): all 3
  
• Assist church: all 3

Winergy
Unlock every synergy


Synergies are unlocked by increasing your Chef level. The max level is 60. Below is a video of how I use powerleveling recipes at max modifiers to jump from 45 to 60 in 2 meals.

Fully Booked
Unlock all customers in the Restaurant


If you have been faithfully completing all side quests/tournaments as they are made available to you, the absolute earliest you can get this achievement is right after beating the Festumancers. The next closest side quest before that is to deliver 5 balanced (+50 all stats) dishes to Vulperis in a box beside your restaurant. He is also considered a customer so don't forget to complete this! Beating the Festumancers unlocks the Trial of Fire as a customer/entry in your Reviewlution page. You don't need max prestige for this achievement.

Completing the side quests unlocks most of the customers except for:

• Jesus - buy all Villa interior upgrades from him (see "House Salad")
  
• Infinigon Mages - you need to unlock all Animals by bringing them all the fossils + the dragon from the main story
  
• Old Port/Culinarim/Nyarian League/Trials of Fire unless you count them as side quests

I don't list all of the sources. Just the ones I know of and regularly used.
Feel free to comment if you have any other additional income suggestions.

There're also shipments[epic-chef.fandom.com] for $ but half were for ingredients I badly needed.

Your restaurant also earns money for you daily depending on how many Prestige stars you have. I don't suggest updating your menu frequently since it'll be costly. I personally only updated my menu twice: once around the 30-star mark to reach spiders (from 0 to 28 or so) and after I got Spiders and Divine Bait (to jump all the way to 80++ stars). Not sure why but when I fight vs Choopie (Bronze League) the judge have no modifier so your recipe didn't work, not sure if they patch this fight or my game is bugged. Not a difficult fight anyways! Thanks for making this guide!

This achievement was not achievable with the Anzashi Battle recipe.
I investigated the cause.
It was achieved by cooking a meal with spider meat as the last ingredient.

Yes for sure. The recipes I put down aren't always optimal and some will be easier to procure based on how the villa has been set up. I tried to go cheap on some of them, but since I was going for speed it was easier to work with what I stockpiled/could get easily. I think over the course of the entire game, I utilized 14 eggs worth for all the recipes used in story/tourney battles. This can be fielded in 2 days just with a minor loop of the map considering the eggs beside the fishing docks respawn if you are 1 screen away (past the gate).

Talk: Also for Feline Hungry, while Spider Flesh/Apple/Rat/Pastor Sauce is great (if not required) for the first round, you can use any 3x Ingredients (with Aroma >0) for the 2nd and 3rd rounds as long as you use Pastor Sauce and DO NOT STIR. The intention is to create a dish with 0/0/0 and Pastor Sauce. I'm at this point right now and for me Egg is harder to get than Erwin Fruit so I used that instead
