ALL UNLOCKS & How to get them + DLC!

This guide is a quick list of all the unlock-able items/weapons/characters in Brotato so far, and how to unlock them.

Introduction

Hi All, I have compiled a list of all the unlockable weapons, characters and items to hopefully help you along your way in Brotato and for those curious about what they will unlock down the line.

Please bear in mind this list was created from Version 1.0.0.3*. if this is different to your version then some items may be inaccurate.

*Last updated 03/01/2025 for update version 1.1.8.1 including DLC*
Also, MAJOR SPOILER WARNING. There, you had a warning.

Characters

Below is a list of all the unlock-able characters in Brotato, not including ones unlocked by default.

Survivor Unlocks

These are characters unlocked by killing a certain amount of enemies total.
TIP: These characters come naturally over time, so there is no need to play a particular strategy for them. Just play the game any way you like and you'll get these quite quickly.

Old - Survivor 1 - Kill 300 enemies total


Mutant - Survivor 2 - Kill 2,000 enemies total


Loud -Survivor 3 - Kill 5,000 enemies total


Wilding -Survivor 4 - Kill 10,000 enemies total


Gladiator -Survivor 5 - Kill 20,000 enemies total

Gatherer Unlocks

These are characters unlocked by collecting a certain amount of total materials.
TIP: These characters come naturally over time, so there is no need to play a particular strategy for them. Just play the game any way you like and you'll get these quite quickly.

Lucky - Gatherer 1 - Collect 300 materials


Generalist - Gatherer 2 - Collect 2,000 materials


Multitasker - Gatherer 3 - Collect 5,000 materials


Pacifist - Gatherer 4 - Collect 10,000 materials


Saver - Gatherer 5 - Collect 20,000 materials

Danger Level Unlocks

These characters are unlocked after you beat a certain difficulty level.

TIP: Before taking on some of the higher Dangers I would look through the items/weapon unlocks and make sure you go through and unlock ones that will help you on your Danger runs, as these will help significantly.

One Armed - Win a run in Danger 0


Bull - Win a run in Danger 1


Soldier - Win a run in Danger 2


Masochist - Win a run in Danger 3


Knight - Win a run in Danger 4


Demon - Win a run in Danger 5

Unique Challenges

These are characters unlocked by various challenges, such as reaching certain stats in a run, or a certain amount of items.

TIP: Many of these include stat challenges, for these I reccomend playing as Well-Rounded, and taking every single stat increase/decrease that goes towards the unlock condition; whether it helps your viability or not.

Chunky - Die for the first time


Sick - Reach -5% HP Regeneration


Farmer - Reach +200 Harvesting


Ghost - Reach 60% Dodge


Speedy - Reach 50% Speed


Entreprenuer - Hold 3,000 materials


Engineer - Get 5 turrets on the map simultaneously


Explorer - Kill 50 trees total


Doctor - Heal 200 HP in one wave


Hunter - Reach 300 Range


Artificer - Kill 15 Enemies with one explosion

Tip: If you unlock bull, you can get this done in the first couple of rounds. Simply bunch up the enemies and walk into them when the timer is about to run out.

Arms Dealer - Recycle 12 weapons in one run


Streamer - Reach -20% Speed

Tip: If you are going for this, do a run with Old who starts with -10% speed

Glutton - Pick up 20 Consumables in a run

Tip: Pick up the garden item for more consumables, but this one is pretty easy

Cyborg - Reach 10 Ranged Damage and get 3 Structures at the same time

Tip: Use Ranger for easy +10 Ranged and pick up some Landmines or common turrets

Jack - Kill a Boss or Elite in less than 15 seconds

Tip: Turn on manual aiming and pick up the Silver Bullet and focus the boss, character doesn't matter too much

Lich - Reach 100 Max HP

Tip: Just keep rerolling on Level-Ups to get MAX HP Upgrades

Fisherman - Get 2 Bait during a run

Tip: Just keep rerolling after wave 2 to try and get multiple bait, mostly rng for this unlock.

Cryptid - Finish a wave with 10 or more living trees

Tip: Playing as Explorer helped me with this one

King - Get 3 tier IV weapons at once

Tip: This one will come naturally, but if you're desperate for it Lucky or Farmer can get you there

Apprentice - Reach level 20

Tip: Again this one should come naturally, but the easiest way is to use Mutant with his 200% xp gain

Golem - Finish a wave with 1HP Remaining

Tip: Best way to do this is to purposefully drop down to 1hp on wave 1 or 2, if you die you can just try again

Renegade - Get 10 different tier 1 items during a run

Tip: Farm money and only spend it on unique common/tier 1 items, should get this pretty quickly

Padding - Win a run with Saver


Snail - Win a run with Old


Whetstone - Win a run with Sick


Ritual - Win a run with Ghost


Compass - Win a run with Explorer


Spicy Sauce- Win a run with Glutton


Tentacle - Win a run with Lich

Tip: I recommend using Medical Scissors to continue using Lich's passive ability, alongside self damaging items

Lure - Win a run with Fisherman

Tip: I recommend using a build that uses 6 sticks, since it has some of the highest base damage it scales nicely with the bait

Hunting Trophy - Win a run with Crazy


Fin - Win a run with Speedy


Bowler Hat - Win a run with Entrepreneur


Lucky Charm - Win a run with Lucky


Wheat - Win a run with Farmer


Rip and Tear - Win a run with Loud


Community Support - Win a run with Streamer


Improved Tools - Win a run with Cyborg

Tip: You can ignore the ranged debuff in the early rounds, so you can pivot into engineering items at round 10-ish and get away with it

Stone Skin - Win a run with Golem


Fairy - Win a run with Renegade

Tip: Pick up every single unique common item you see, the damage scaling is worth it. SMG's are a good choice here.

Octopus - Win a run with Mutant


Big Arms - Win a run with Generalist


Panda - Win a run with Pacifist


Night Goggles - Win a run with Ranger


Spider - Win a run with Gladiator


Potato - Win a run with Well-Rounded


Robot Arm - Win a run with Engineer


Medkit - Win a run with Doctor


Focus - Win a run with One-Armed


Gnome - Win a run with Bull


Explosive Shells- Win a run with Artificer


Anvil- Win a run with Arms Dealer


Giant Belt - Win a run with Jack

Melee Weapons

Here is a list of all the unlock able melee weapons in Brotato, this does not include weapons unlocked by default.

Chopper - Win a run with Multitasker


Hatchet - Win a run with Wilding


Spiky Shield - Win a run with Masochist


Fighting Stick - Win a run with Apprentice

Tip: Use Cacti Clubs to utilise both his Ranged and Melee damage scaling

Claw - Win a run with Cryptid


Power Fist - Win a run with Brawler


Thunder Sword - Win a run with Mage


Plasma Sledgehammer III - Win a run with Knight


Excalibur - Win a run with King

Tip: Avoid having a level 1 weapon at all costs, level 2 or higher is the way to go to avoid his debuffs

Ranged Weapons

Here is a list of all ranged weapons you can unlock in Brotato, and how to get them. These do not include weapons that are unlocked by default.

Potato Thrower II - Win a run with Chunky


Nuclear Launcher III - Win a run with Soldier


Obliterator III - Win a run with Demon

🏆 DLC Characters

Below are a list of characters and how to unlock them after purchasing the Brotato - Abyssal Terrors DLC.

This is accurate of 03/01/2025, there may be some balance changes in future that may change these unlocks slightly.

Unlocked for free

These are characters unlocked by purchasing the Brotato - Abyssal Terrors DLC.. Once bought you'll unlock the characters listed below:

Sailor
Curious
Creature
Builder
Captain

Unique Challenges

These are characters unlocked by various challenges, such as reaching certain stats in a run, or a certain amount of items, these are only unlockable after purchasing the Brotato - Abyssal Terrors DLC.

Buccaneer - Reach +100% Pickup Range

TIP: Simply hover over the "Soldier" character in the character select menu to unlock this achievement, no need to make a special build for it.

Diver - Kill 1000 enemies that are more than 700 range away from you

TIP: Go ranger for this one, should get it easily.

Romantic - Finish a run with 0 curse

TIP: AVOID THE PURPLE GUYS ON THE SIDE, when you kill them it gives one curse.

Ogre - Deal 1000 Damage in a single hit


Gangster - Reroll 10 times in a single shop

TIP: Just do this one wave 20 of a run, ezpz.

Chef - Have at least 25 enemies burning at the same time

TIP: I used Tazer wizard for this but if you pick a character with lots of weapons and get a ton of blue wrenches this also helps

Dwarf - Hit at least 25 enemies with a single melee attack

TIP: One-Armed is best for this with big range

Druid - Collect 250 consumables by the end of wave 20

TIP: Shears help here.

Hiker- Walk a total of 20,000 steps

TIP: Play the Speedy character to get this easily

I can confirm this has all been updated for version 1.0.0.3 as of today, all the new characters should be in. If you notice anything is off please let me know and I'll update it as soon as possible

Cyborg is incorrect. You get improved tools, which raises attack speed by 10% and reduce the cooldown on your structures and turrets
