Introduction
Hello, and welcome to Ratituee's guide on how to become a Don't Starve master! This guide serves as an easy way to digest the game for new players. This game has a lot of meat on its bones, and it can be quite overwhelming to new players. If you want to digest the game's mechanics, this is the guide for you. Without further ado, let's dive right in to my delicious guide!
World setup
World setup can be quite confusing for new players. I would recommend setting the day to long day, turning hound attacks lower (or even completely off!), and turning off wildfires for new players. Of course, what you change is your choice, it is your game after all! A lot of players will try to shame you for choosing certain settings, but play the game the way it is most fun to you.
Choose your character

Choosing a character is one of the more difficult tasks for new players. If you are clueless, look at this tier list I made of every single character in don"t Starve Together! S tier means good, F tier mean bad

Walter is the best character in the game, he has an op slingshot that one shots birds and its super op because morsels are super op for food and its really op, plus you can give them to the pig king to get gold!
Upon spawning in

Upon spawning in you should look around at the world. You can see my world gen is pretty bad! I spawned next to a scary monster!

After a close call, I discovered a nearby grassland. This was my first point of interest, as it usually contains a few valuable resources for earlygame.

You should understand the basics of survival. You want to make an axe, pickaxe, and hammer, and mine any gold rocks that you see.
Earlygame
About halfway through the first day, you should have most of the stuff I asked for. If you are taking a while, don't worry! :) You can take you're time.

I found some pig heads, this will be useful if I die. Their pretty scary!

After you have found everything, explore to find some pigs.
There are 4 major places you can find pigs: the pig king, pig village, pig torches, and in houses scattered around the forests. If you find a reddish-orange type of color (like you see here), that usually means you are close to pig king.

This is the pig king. He let's you trade meat and pig skin for gold. Extremely overpowered! Around him should be a bunch of pig houses (and maybe some carrots or trees (or pumpkins in hallowed nights)! As I explored the surrounding area, I found something odd...
I found a setpiece with 5 clockwork knights (you are only guaranteed to get 2 upon world gen) This is super scary because I want to LIVE here! Uh oh. Looks like we have a problem! However the pigs killed the clockworks. It gave me some gears, not all of them are dead, but it is safe enough to base here now.

After you explore the area, you want to hammer down some houses for boards, cut stone, and pigskin. DO NOT DESTROY ALL OF THEM!!! IF YOU WANT TO LIVE HERE YOU NEED PIGS FOR HOUND PROTECTION AND MANURE.

You can see me destroying a house. It is getting dark outside!

Stop when you have destroyed about 4-5 houses (I did the full 5 because I am a pro))!

For me it is night time, so this serves as a good point to teach you how to survive the nights...
Use a torch! Some people use campfires. They both work but torches let you move so yeah! And they are cheaper
If you want you can go absolutely mad and burn down a bunch of stuff
Congrats! You survived the first night.
