Not sure what your dog will eat? I subject mine to tests so you don't have to. (Currently an incomplete guide)

Intro
Some things to keep in mind going into this guide:

  • This guide currently does not include all complex dishes that require a kitchen. I'll release complex dish-results as and when I come across them. If you know any, and you're positive you know that's the result they are - feel free to comment to fill in this guide.

  • Aside from that, this guide should include all buyable and forageable basic items in the game.

  • There is a bug with Snow Berries. Sometimes it acts like the dog loves them, and sometimes it provides no results. For the interest of this guide, I am going by the dog icon in the inventory menu, and the dog's after-attitude.
Loves (++)
The following give you a large bonus to the dog's friendship meter, and will receive a heart when they eat them:

Basic Dishes:

  • Grilled Tenderloin - Sold at the Lazy Bowl Tavern.
  • Tender Meat - Sold at the Farmhouse Shop.
  • Juicy Meat - found in the Barren Wasteland dropped when killing mobs.

Complex Dishes:

  • Meatballs - Created at the cooking station.
  • Meat Stew - Created at the cooking station. (Befriend Mercy for the recipe)
  • Fish and Chips - Created at the cooking station.

Note: There is a hidden stat within "Loved" foods themselves. These dishes will make your dog stand on two legs, along with the standard heart.

"Standing" dishes:

  • Meatballs - Created at the cooking station.
  • Meat Stew - Created at the cooking station. (Befriend Mercy for the recipe)
  • Pancakes - Created at the cooking station.
  • Fish and Chips - Created at the cooking station.

With new updates 1.3 has been released, The Dog loves Omelette, likes Sausage Rolls (from new event called First Date by Osman), and hates Gingseng Soup

Hi @Loki, Master of Cats - you need to whistle to him to interact with him first! The whistle button should have a key prompt on your overworld hud, which will make your dog bark and walk over to you. Then when he comes close enough, you'll have another prompt choice to either pet him, or feed him! As long as you have food in your inventory, you can feed him any of it.

:Hearty:

SO silly question how do I feed the dog?

Oooh, I'll find out right now! I've just unlocked the wasteland, so I'll get into that now.

I think there's a "special" +++ item as the dog will go on their hind legs and do a trick for "Meatballs" but I've yet to see if that's a further hidden stat.

But yeah, completely agree! Tender Meat is cheap and easy as pie to get. If I'm not subjecting them to food testing, I always give them Tender Meat.

I usually just feed mine Tender Meat that you can buy from the farm as well, pretty sure the Tender Meat and Juicy Meat from the mob drop in the wasteland both count as ++
