To my own surprise, even online works :)
ProtonGE9-20 (latest version) works. Issue is that adding the python script did not allow me to get past the easy anti cheat screen. Omitting that step worked. I also want to mention that i HAD to follow the step where i put the game in forced compatibility mode with my ProtonGE version in desktop mode, go to handheld mode to start the game (so it can crash), and go BACK to desktop mode to run the game again. Thats when it booted for me properly. From there on I could boot the game on handheld mode without any issues. I also want to mention that with protonGE9-20, the controls already work flawlessly.
I tried proton experimental and GE 9-13, but with these a black screen appears and then closes
When I ran the game it worked immediately, whether I ran it directly via desktop mode or game mode. The controls also worked straight away. So for me the first 2 points were enough.
