my guide for wolfquest <3

hello besties uh welcome to this funky little guide i have

starting the game <3

honestly before you start the game in general just have a good pc with enough storage to play this game because what the hell my game is laggy even with lower graphics

ok so actually first you just gotta start up the game, like so, and if there is a crash pop-up, that really just means your game is way too laggy than it should be, so you have to kinda roll with it, sadly.

Now that you have the game booted up, make a new game, or continue your game. whichever one. I recommend you do easy or challenging, but i dont dictate your actions. Now its gonna load, then ur gonna get a pop up that tells u to hunt for elk.

Easy is my jam, if you prefer the story telling aspects without wanting angst I'd def goes for easy, but if your edgy then go for challenging-Hopper

Challenging is what I like if I'm being honest. It just feels like that extra tinge of challenge, (which is why its challenging) and its one of the only you get with ironwolf, even though I myself don't like it. (thats a lie, i now use ironwolf on every savegame i have)

I recommend going for a calf, but you can do adult, whichever is easiest. I personally go for adult but if you want to kill a calf, you can.

You have to kill two elk, and if you used to play the original wolfquest, hold instead of tap, but thats common knowledge for the original players as well.

Now that you killed two elk, you can finally get a mate.

if you couldn't tell already, this is for mates.

Alright so like after you get the elk, I recommend that you go to sleep, there will most likely be some dispersals waiting for you to wake up. (dont do this irl please dont) so yk if you dont see any, open scent view and try your best to find some. you can howl if you need.

Okay, so you got a mate? Great. Now there's going to be a thing called courtship, which means you have to get to know your mate better, if you dont like them, you can reject their marriage proposal. If you accept (which is 99% of players) then cool.

In an attempt to make this longer, I added this paragraph. You will soon see a little pop-up telling u to name your mate. If your indecisive, like me, name them rat. (/j) ok, you got a name? good for you. unfortunately, i had to delete the previous sentence because there is no more popups to head to Slough Creek and full sprint to a star. sigh.. i'll miss the nostalgia :,)

dens and territory

so, you went to raise pups, huh? well, awesome! now you need to establish territory, and find dens.

so, when you establish territory, theres a thing called hexes. When you click "p" on the keyboard, you will gain a hex, or if you hunted down an elk / any significant animal you gain a hex / more percentage on that hex. the game requires you to get 15 hexes, and if you dont you wont get your pups. (oh wow, so sad..)

BROS BROS BROSS, HOPPERS GOT A REAL NICE TIP FOR YOU ALL IF YOUR NEWER AND GETTING YOUR TERRITORY FOR THE FIRST FEW TIMES <3333 Don't sleep, it will make your tile percentage lowered. Also, ignore the dispersal type packs, which are any wolves in you territory that aren't any of the three big packs. They don't actually leave your territory, their just little brats and will run off but return, and fighting them is just annoying. -Hopper

you got your territory? now you need to find at least four dens. if you can't find any, here's an image :)

pups

now that you got territory and dens, you can raise pups now.

ok, so first you need to pick your den. when you picked your den, you go to it, and then you can have the pups. you can also do age perks if you want.

now that you have pups, you need to name them. if your indecisive, like me, you can keep the "Crab 2M" names or like name them something like "Milk" and "grass" or something idk.

Now that you did that, you have to protect them from dangers. If you're on challenging and accurate, your pups can die from sickness, so be careful about that. There are cougars, bears, coyotes, wolves, and eagles as predators. Bears I feel are the easiest to spot, since they're big, and if you're paying attention, they have this special theme that lets you know that there is a bear nearby. Cougars and coyotes are harder to spot, since cougars can blend in with that suspicious stump you've grown to love, and coyotes are the same but smaller. Wolves aren't the hardest to see, since you might see them moving, but they are pretty hard to see sometimes. And it is near impossible to see an eagle before the warning comes up, unless you have an actually keen eye.


Bears are genuine ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, not because their sneaky, but their so incredibly tanky. It's so hard to get in a hit without taking damage, and when your pups refuse to go in the den that just adds some tasty stress.-Hopper

I agree, my first wolf died ON EASY from a bear. same as his son, like right after, because he was like "noo :(("

if you couldn't guess, this is the part with the Rendezvous Site. I recommend going to the one closest to you, and this part is the easiest imo. You can relax, and hunt. There will be predators, but at this time you're probably used to them. Now all you have to do is wait for them to reach 20 pounds.

Bro. You can be gay. Set your wolfs gender as the one you want, after you kill the two elk switch your wolfs gender to the opposite one, get a mate of your OG gender and switch your gender back to your OG gender. Bam. Your now a gay wolf. -Hopper

You can also just make ur wolf's name feminine / masculine / gender nuetral, I like to think that's why theres a naming system (even though thats probably not really) -crab

ALSO im pretty sure you can't do this for offspring, since the gender is set in stone and you can't change it. -crab, again

what to do until tower fall

1. Create a legacy! What I've done is done one litter/year per wolf, then once I reached 10 wolves (any number can work) I've had that wolf have a whole lifespan, and played them until they died. Or you could play each wolf until they die!

2. Along with a legacy, create lore for your wolves, give them fears and develop their personalities. I think this makes the game-play more immersive and easier to complete once your growing sick of the same cycle.

3. Grind Grind Grind!!! Get those achievements. Get them all, brag about them to your friends. Prove you are the superior player. All jokes aside, grinding achievements can make the cycle of raising pups seem more fun if your feeling disengaged or bored.

Did your pup die? Did you get attached? Too bad, it was a canon event and you can't change that unless you want to destroy the universe. Or maybe it happened because you prevented a canon event. Take the L.
