How to fix Frame Drop / Stuttering error

I had a lot of trouble with frequent frame drops despite my computer being well overqualified to run the game, and saw that many else are having trouble too. It seems the problem has something to do with the computer playing the game at a framerate way higher than necessary (over 500 fps for me). I fixed the stuttering by capping the framerate at 120. This guide is how to set a framerate cap.

Go to Game Files

On the game page of steam press the gear icon and then manage>browse local files. This will bring up the serious sam folder.

Add new startup command

Go into the 'scripts' folder, and then open 'Game_startup.ini' in a text editor. Now add the code "sam_iMaxFPSActive=120;" to the file and save it. Obviously, you can replace '120' with whatever framerate you want to play the game at.

Try it out

Now you can try out the game and see if its working, for me, it made the game buttery smooth. Hopefuly it will for you too.

I never tested it with v-sync

Will it work with V-Sync enabled or shall I have to disable it?
